There are several components to a manicure; foremost, when you're a woman and you have a big event that same day, is for your nails to NOT look like a seagull upchucked on them by the time it's concluded. My big event was a funeral. You might imagine, the mood wasn't great to begin with. Pearl was a passable listener, and took good care of my cuticles and the tips of my nails. I pointed out a thumbnail which had been peeling and needed to be smoothed across its face, not just the end. She didn't smooth it, a minor thing I might have overlooked, especially since the hand massage was, to echo earlier reviews, excellent (and the only reason for a generous 2 stars).The good marks ended there. The polish color I had picked was the consistency of roofing tar, and she refused to thin it even a little bit, despite several requests. She just globbed it on, and smeared it back and forth. She didn't even get polish all the way to the tips ... I had what looked like perforations at the tips where my bare nail showed through. Also, the polish was piled all over the nails, super thick in spots and thin in others. The borders were jagged. I could have done a better job myself, and I regularly do. Of course that's not an option when you live 900 miles away and had flown in with a hastily packed go bag, sans nail kit, for a family emergency. I had paid (and tipped, generously) before the polishing so I wouldn't ruin the polish. I should have waited. Smearing could only have improved it. Read Less
