This was the absolute worst experience I ever had. I came in to get a polish change and the employee said I have gel on. I said no I don't I got a manicure here a few days ago with the owner Jen and I paid for regular polish. The employee insisted I had gel nails done. I said the owner did my nails Jen and if I had gel put on she did so without my permission. I talked to Jen she pretended not remember me and said, honey, I don't make that kind of mistakes, then walked off. I told the employee if there is gel on I will not pay for the gel remover but I will pay for the polish change. She walked off and said she was going to do something else. Then I went to the owner and she kept ignoring me and said she does not have time for this. I said your employee has messed up my nails you can not leave a good customer like this. Then she said we'll make an appointment for tomorrow. I said I'm here now and I can not tomorrow. She told me she was busy, then I replied you just took in more walk-ins. She just ignored me, so I stated I will file a complaint. When I walked out the owner Jen yelled at me saying I could do whatever I want. I went to where the previous owners now work and it turned out it was regular nail polish. They were just trying to charge me extra and the employee doesn't even know the difference between gel and regular polish. The owners at the other salon say people are leaving because they are complaining the place is filthy. I agree, not only is it filthy they leave the door open and do not bother putting on the air conditioner. Run for the hills and go where they care about their customers. I never would normally rate any business with one star but I had the absolute worst experience here recently. I used to love this place! But with new management and different staff this place has gone down hill. I went in for a new set with old nails still on. They soaked my nails in acetone for 30 minuets first, which I felt was far too long, then began to literally scrape the old ones off so hard and fast, I had multiple nails rip in half and bleed! Horrible. The girl didn’t ask what I wanted just started going and when I tried to tell her what I wanted she didn’t speak any English. By the time I got someone to understand what I wanted she had gone too far and they just said they couldn’t do it. She kept messing up the acrylics and have to shave it back but she shaved it so far I started bleeding and she kept going! I was crying through the end of it from the pain. So, mostly con's - Way more expensive than other salons like it ($35 got a plain pedi where most other places in the area are $25 for a better, longer one). - Awfully done. I got home and my feet were dry, and my nails weren't painted properly. - Crappy products. Because I don't go for a salon quality pedicure and expect them to use Bath & Body Works brand, I could do that myself if I used or wanted low quality products. Pro's - Kind, sweet lady, super chatty and friendly. - Very attentive. We were offered drinks and they made sure we were comfortable. - Clean facility and they don't recycle products. - Nice salon decor. My friend and I walked in at 8:25 to see if there was any way that they could squeeze us in for two gel manicures ( they close at 9:00), you could tell the owner was almost done cleaning up and ready to head out for the day, but she said yes. She did a very speedy and very thorough manicure, with a nice little mini massage at the end. My nails came out perfectly, and she stayed until 9:10 to finish up with us. I had an appointment for a pedicure... After waiting for 45 minutes I pulled my feet out of the water that had gotten cold and left.  My experiences at Star Nails have never been awesome... my nails usually come out "so so" and I've had some bad experiences too, but since my usual place was closed, I gave it a try.  Last time for me.  It's one thing to leave a walk in waiting that long but someone with an appointment?  I was bummed and won't ever be going back. I went to this place in the past and it was terrible, I tried it again because I had a gift certificate, and it was still terrible! You schedule an appointment and it still takes an hour to start your nails. Once they start they rush you through. You want it to be a relaxing experience, but it ends up being the complete opposite! They are just trying to rush you in and rush you out. They need to hire more people so they can take their time and make it a more enjoyable experience. Came here for a gel manicure and regular pedicure, manicurist used wrong color of gel on my fingers.  I wanted a gold glitter and she used a pink sparkle, first she said I was wrong and she had used the color I asked for.  She later offered to change the color but I told her I was already running short on time.  The pedicure was okay and the paint stayed on for a long time but they looked like I had painted them myself.  Nails looked grown out after 2 days.Came back just because owner had offered me a discount because the lady had used the wrong color.  There was one guy sitting and reading a magazine, didn't acknowledge me at all.  Finally said "is anyone working?"  Still ignored.Finally after another minute or so I said "I'm just going to find another salon then.  Thank you."  Of course he then looked up but didn't say anything.They lost a great customer.  I get my nails done once a week and am a fairly good tipper.  How long until this place goes out of business ? This place is the worst! Ive been there once before, and swore I'd never go back, but my girl friends were getting together and we wanted somewhere with restaurants nearby. Location is the only thing this place has going for it. The massage was so short, the prices are $5-10 higher than other places, and my pedicure chipped after 2 days (I think they forgot to use top coat). When I went in to see if they would repainted my chipped pedicure, they told me it was my fault for not getting gel and said I needed an appointment to come back to fix their mistake. I usually go to Nails n'More in Kaysville, and my regular polish pedicures look good for 3-4 weeks and decent for a few weeks beyond that. This one looked like garbage after one week. I've been here before and my last visit was great. I had a pedicure by the owner/manager. This time was horrible. I had a gel manicure done by Yen which was disappointing. She cut my cuticle, and on the ones she didn't cut she left hanging skin, there was a 5 second massage per hand, and on most of my nails I can see through the blotchy paint. Not impressed. Terrible job on my nails for a wedding! I would say zero stars if I could. The owner was impatient and told me to "hurry up and just pick a color".  I was trying to match a dark purpleish mother-in-law dress for a wedding, so I chose a nice lavender on my toes and a very light pink for my fingers. They talked me into doing shellac, which I thought would be nice so it would last a while, but they did such a crappy job and I don't have time to go back and have it fixed before the wedding! Now that I'm home I can see that she only painted 3/4 of my big toenail and that there is dirt and red polish left over in the cuticle cracks from the red pedicure I had done a couple weeks ago. She got lavender nail polish all over the tips of my toes and cuticles and not clean it off. My nails were even worse. She did not cover the sides of my nails with polished and never even put any lotion after trimming the cuticles. I noticed that The nail polish was bubbly and streaky when I went up to pay and I asked her to fix it. I'll she did was paint it with nail polish remover and then add another layer of nail polish. Then she added a topcoat and a clear coat on top of that. So basically I had like six coats of something on each now which of course scraped off chipped off rubbed off even after a couple hours.  I ended up taking the nail polish off myself and moisturizing my hands to make them look better. The bad polish job she did actually made my hands and nails look worse than when I went in to the shop! Yelled at us the second we walked in the door. Sat down and was told not to move. Polish all over my skin and cuticles. The employees were talking about us while we were sitting there. They acted like they were doing us a favor when we were bringing them business. Hoping for a relaxing time and were rushed and mistreated. On top of that the quality of work sucked. Too bad. There were multiple things wrong with this place. First of all, they were playing completely inappropriate music. The man working there was the one who suggested listening to it. It was composed of mostly swear words and other innapropriate things. When asked to change the music, due to the fact that there were multiple children in there, they gave us an amused look and ignored the request. Second of all, the place was a complete mess. They were completely unorganized and everything was dirty. I'm really hoping the tools were clean....the massage chair that I was sitting in had a towel draped over the back to hide the fact that the massage arm had ripped through the chair. I felt a tugging at my hair and realized that the towel had fallen off and my hair was being caught in the arm that had ripped through the chair. It was horrible! If I hadn't caught it earlier my hair would have been ripped out. The lady working on me had no respect for her customers whatsoever and treated me like she was disgusted. It was an awful experience. They do a great job on my gel nails. I wouldn't recommend the pedicures...they're only about 20 minutes long and feel very rushed. My fingernails on the other hand always last 2 weeks or more before chipping, I typically have to get a fill before they even begin to chip. Would recommend for nails all day every day. Read Less

This was my first time going here. I HATE THIS PLACE! I was hurried to pick a color and the salon was so dirty and dusty. There was only 3 people working that day so it was so rushed. I had a to reach my hands over to the guy who did my nails while a girl did my toes and talked on the phone. My three coat nails and toes cracked and chipped after 2 days! I am a returning customer to star nails and the first time I went was about a year ago. I got a manicure and full set the first time and they were amazing and took their time. But a couple of days ago I went in to get a manicure and full set and when I walked in the owner just glared at me, granted they did have a bit of a rush they pushed me to one of the tables and the person who did my nails (Ryan) stopped mid pedicure for another lady and came to do my nails. He was very rude. He yanked my hands around and got mad at me for being "too tense", he then yelled/ raises his voice at me because I accidentally smudged one of my nails. He did very rushed job and my gel set is bumpy in spots. I was very unhappy with the customer service I had and I was appalled by how rude they were. They definitely need a class in customer service. I love Star Nail. I see why people complain they do rush you. For me I love the in and out. If I want a regular nice clean mani and pedi I like that I don't have to dedicate my entire day to it. This was my first visit here and I will never go back. They rushed my pedicure and the guy was throwing my leg around like he was pissed I was there. Then he had another girl do the polish and I could have done it better myself. It's so sloppy and I have polish on my skin. When I expressed my disappointment the girl who took my payment laughed at me. I should have refused to pay it was that bad. The owner took and made phone calls all while doing my pedicure and manicure. She forgot to clean under my nails she was so distracted. Then they kicked my daughter out of the spa/massage chair right after they painted her nails, and made her sit under a light so they could use the chair for someone else. This place is horrible. I got gel done on my regular nails and my manicure lasted less than 10 min. It was way over priced for such a crappy job. Normally gel will last me about 2 weeks before my nails start to grow out and these started cracking at 1. I'm so annoyed but now I know to never go back. Don't waste you time on this crap hole. I don't usually write reviews, but this was so horrible I don't want anyone to have to go though it. We had an appointment and we sat soaking our feet for 20 min, the water turned cold and when we asked for warm water they weren't very nice about it. Then when the man started doing my feet he was SO rough and quick. When he started doing the blade I almost started crying. He didn't seem to care at all that it hurt, he was in such a hurry. I was in town visiting family that lives in Farmington for the holiday and needed to have my no chip redone. At first glance this salon looks classy, but I was appalled by the way they treated my nails. I'm not usually very picky because i figure, as long as the salon has clean utensils I can tolerate a mediocre nail job. They had hundreds of almost empty nail polish bottle laying around, most with nail polish oozing over the sides. As far as the actual manicure went - They removed my current no chip with an electric sander!Next, they wanted me to soak my hands in pure acetone. In all my years of getting my nails done, no other salon would do that. It's horrible for your skin. Ultimately, when i walked out I had polish under my nails and on my skin. Don't waste your time here. My boyfriend and I went for pedicures and were both disappointed. Nothing went horribly wrong per se but it was overpriced, the massage lasted for a minute or two, my boyfriends toenails were carelessly cut straight across and I don't think I even got a top coat on my polish. Went for a manicure with a friend. We called ahead and still had to wait. I showed the gal a picture of what I wanted, glitter with a chevron pattern. The chevron pattern was awful. The lines did not match and were unequal so I had her take it off and do dots instead. She was so rushed half of the dots have tails and are unequal. She couldn't do design at all and she should have said so when I showed her the picture. After she was done painting she put lotion on my hands for about 30 seconds and called it done. Worst manicure. Went here with a friend on a Friday morning. The guy barely trimmed my cuticles and filed my nails. Horrible job on the polish, the tips of my nails are still showing through! I literally can't wait to take it off after a couple of days. I'd do it right away but I spent $15 so I feel Like I should at least keep it on for a day or two. Ugh. And he only remembered the hand massage when I reminded him as he was applying the polish. The "massage" was nothing more than how you would apply lotion to your own hands and forearms. They weren't even busy. The whole thing took 15 minutes, no exaggeration. Thought I'd try them out since they're close to home but I'll stick with the nail salons in SLC where they know how to do a real manicure. I really liked my nail tech (who is no longer there) and tipped her well (at least $5). One day we chatted about the tips and she said yes, she got the $3 dollars I left. So....a couple of times we did a test to see if she was getting all her tips and determined that when I wrote in $5 on the credit card receipt, they gave her $3. After that, I tipped her in cash. Do not go here. I went in for a pedicure and a couple days later had an ingrown toenail that hurt so bad I can barely walk or put on shoes due to them not cleaning their tools or cutting my toenail right. It's been about 4 weeks and it's just getting worse. I visited Star Nails for the first time for a pedicure and eyebrow wax. It was clean and the location is convenient. The service is nice and I appreciated the special touches of being able to choose my scrub and lotion. My pedicure looks very nice from a polish perspective, but my feet are nowhere near soft. That is one of the reasons I get a pedicure is to have all the tough skin scrubbed off my feet. I am also having an allergic reaction to the wax used, and have had my eyebrows waxed for years and this is a first. 3 stars for clean environment, extra touches, and friendly service.
