The owner of this salon is unprofessional. If you say or do one thing she doesn't like, she immediately aquires an adolescent attitude and becomes very immature. She's very manipulative to try and save herself. Most of the girls have similar high school-like drama filled mindsets and can be heard speaking very negatively and laughing about their clients and the clients of others. I had the misfortune of going there a little over a year ago with a group of friends and the "stylist" completely messed up my haircut and eyebrow wax. When I said something, she proceeded to look at me like I was crazy and that it was only because I was moving too much. What??! She refused to refund my money or offer anything to make up for it. A friend tried it again very recently and she said the service was HORRENDOUS! She waited for someone to acknowledge her for close to 20 minutes. Being the nice person that she is, she did'nt say anything about the haircut they messed up AGAIN. She had to go to another salon to get it fixed. No more chances for this place and will be letting all friends and family know to never set foot here! I'm not interested in contacting anyone from this establishment over this review. I get my lashes and hair done here by Amber. She is amazing at what she does. She took time to get the correct lashes for me as it is not a one size fits all service (who knew there were so many styles of lashes). Amber also helped me transition to see if blondes really do have more. She suggests what would look good and executes the job to perfection. Lauren was my stylist. I have never been here before as I'm from NJ, but she knew the style I wanted. She was super sweet and super nice, in fact everyone there was. The hair cut turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Oh and her helper (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name) gave me a very relaxing and enjoy shampoo and massage which just made the experience, I had to go back to tip her separately. Then at the end when paying, I guess I'm just used to higher prices for everything but i was very pleased with the cost. I have to say that I was very disappointed today. I live 45 minutes away and had made an appointment 4 days in advance for my daughter. She lives out of town. It was for her birthday. I had been here twice before and had great haircuts and was so excited only to learn after 20 minutes of waiting that our stylist was not coming in. The receptionist stated there were notes in the system that two attempts had been made to call me. I did not have any messages other than the call made to confirm my appointment. When I came in for a fill, my lashes were a little messy and clumped together from the last person who did my lashes (at a salon in a different city). Katie J. cut my hair to a beautiful long bob (for $38, which is pretty decent considering I have very thick hair & it was long) and she made sure to ask what my preference was every step of the way to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I went here about a year ago to get my hair washed and curled for an event. I read the reviews and asked for an appointment with the owner. They scheduled me for that time and with the owner, but when I arrived they said "that's weird she doesn't even work on Saturdays." My appointment had been scheduled when the stylist wasn't even there. So I had to wait an HOUR for the next available stylist. When I finally sat down and the girl refused to wash my hair and when she began to style it, she told me my hair was too long to hold curls and that she couldn't do it after an hour of trying. When I finally left, my hair was half up, half down, barely curly, and I was an hour behind on my event and missed the photographer I paid for. Terrible experience and I don't think I should have had to pay as much as I did for an hour late appointment for a style I didn't want. (Side note: my roommate curled my hair, which is even longer now, a month ago with no problem. My hair can be curled, it just takes time). Read Less

I came in to see Candice for a haircut and she did a wonderful job! I paid $50, which is alittle more than I usually would pay for a haircut but I do have thick hair and the cut probably took an hour or so.I'll be going back later on for another haircut and most likely a color touch up. Candice was very precise in her cuts, she checked her work and made sure it was spot on. She took her time which I definitely appreciated! There was a small wait, maybe 20 minutes but I didn't mind as I was 15 min late anyway. The staff is friendly, I brought my 8 week old son and Mom to watch him while I got the haircut and it went smoothly, luckily! There's a cute waiting area upstairs where my family sat. Wow! I am usually super hesitant to get my hair cut by anyone in fear of a trim becoming a 5-inch loss. I stumbled across Cutting Edge on Yelp and decided to give it a try. My stylist was Ashley Callaway, and she was specular! She asked me lots of questions and made sure that she understood what I wanted to walk out of the salon with. When it came to style my hair, she didn't load up my hair with a million products like most salons will do in effort to sell you full sized products. Not only does she take her time and make sure you like your cut, but she also listens to what you want, gives advice, and doesn't give you just an average carbon copy male haircut. I went to Mary for eyelash extensions last week. She did an amazing job!! My lashes look so good and with just a "C" curl they a are incredibly curly. They are super thick and stiff though with the silk lashes may be of concern, but maybe they are just a thick silk? I'm not sure. They are really beautiful and none have fallen out yet! Having recently established myself in Waco, I'm still looking for my standard places - Dry cleaning, salon, etc. I planned on trying a few different hair places and this was at the top of my list, but I'll definitely be staying!For things like this I prefer to go local rather than chain. Cutting edge had a great atmosphere and when I needed a quick trim the online scheduling system made it easy to find a time that worked without the hassle of over the phone "Well, does this work?" etc. The stylists were very professional and so sweet! I loved the professional salon with a Texas hometown feel. My stylist, Cherie, listened and gave me exactly what I was looking for! I've found this is actually a rare trait in a stylist, and one that I very much appreciate. My hair can easily be curly or straight, and this cut looks perfect for both! More often than not after getting it cut it only looks good one way or the other, and as a result it would stay pinned up in a ponytail. I also found the prices incredibly reasonable. Coming from Dallas I'm used to $60-80 minimum for a cut, wash, and style, but my total here was only $40. Looking forward to next time, ladies! :) Read Less

She is quick and efficient and has never failed to be anything but perfect when taking care of my hair needs. Rebekah is always cheerful & friendly & neatly dressed, as are the others who work there. Came in for a haircut and was completely pleased with the results.  She cut it exactly how my stylist in Hawaii did so I was really happy. My stylist was Tonya and she was great! I came to Cutting Edge yesterday for a simple wash and trim. First, conditioner was not used on my hair when it was washed. It was simply shampooed and wrapped up in a grungy looking, old towel. Mary, my stylist, used enough products in my hair that they could have adequately styled Rapunzel's hair (mine is cut to my shoulders). I left with hair that was cut well but was as greasy and flat as an oil slick. I normally use 2-3 pumps of leave in conditioner (the It's a 10 brand) and she used the same one on my hair; however, she used approximately 30 pumps before she blowdried my hair. Additionally, I found my service unprofessional. Mary was very kind and listened to what I wanted but the whole time she and I were being accosted by her two young daughters who were running amock though the salon. At one point, while I was getting my hair washed and my head was down in the bowl, one was looking down into my face and asking me about my eyebrows! I have never worked a job where having your two little children running around is acceptable. What is meant to be a relaxing and pampering service was annoying, stressful, and unprofessional. I enjoy the results I got as far as the cut, however, it was nothing complicated. I will not be returning and I regret spending $35 on the service that I received. It was like having my hair cut in a run-down daycare. I understand that circumstances do arise that cause you to need to take care of your kids, but you should get someone to watch your kids at the salon or at home! It was not cute or sweet. A "cutting edge" salon does not allow the 5 year old children of a stylist to run around and bug clientele. I appreciate that the business seems "family owned" and small as I enjoy supporting small local businesses but I also expect a certain level of decorum from anyone providing service to me.I am a Baylor student and have been trying salons since I arrived 1.5 years ago; I would highly recommend "The Mane Event" on Valley Mills instead of this salon. The stylists were all very kind and professional, and they offer much more "cutting edge" services compared to this salon. A cute building, but services are sub-par.  I would compare them to mall salon.  stylist was super kind but skills were less than expected for a salon.  I could do the same at home.  I also asked for specific services.   She either never checked in with me to see if I liked what she was doing or didnt do what I asked...Also, if you aren't Christian, you might feel out-of-place.  They play Christian music which I found a bit off-putting and exclusive.  If a client doesn't share in this faith, she/he'd feel out-of-place in this salon.
