This is the only nail salon that I have gone to that has been consistently good. Almost every nail technician here is fantastic. The price is pretty similar to all places in the area and they give you a punch card. After 10 services you get a free pedicure. Came here once with family, we are new to the area so I wanted to check it out since it's close to our house. We did a spa pedi and gel manicure which didn't even last 30 minutes, it felt hurried and sloppy. I've been to other places where you get a spa pedicure and mani because you want that extra time of relaxation and to enjoy the experience. They leave the wax on a good amount of time, they massage your feet and leg with a hot stone and then use the hot towel. You feel like you're getting a good service. That did not happen here.The kicker was when I went to pay. I was paying for half my niece's pedi so he gave me a total of $110. I would not have grumbled at the price if I felt like I received that worth of service. 25 minutes of being hurried in a chair with unfriendly techs and sub par job, was not worth $110. The gel mani came off my fingers after less than a week when it usually stays on for at least 2 weeks. I've been to another spot in town who charged half of what they charged for the same service and I had a better experience there. Not going back to this place. Read Less

After reading the most recent reviews, I decided to give another review. What I have learned so far from Sweetwater, is that you must find your people and stick with them. I ONLY let Amy and Kim work on my hands and feet. I know their schedules and I only go on days they are both there. When I can, I will change my schedule to match theirs. Sweetwater is filled with ladies at different points of the spectrum: some do a fantastic job and others are horrible. So you have to find you a good pair and stick with them. I also NEVER go on Weekends. I'm not about to be moved around a nail salon like a herd of cattle.As far as cost, I get the exact same thing everyone I go: shellac manicure and pedicure. So I pay the same each time: if the price has increased then Amy and Kim are good about telling me beforehand so I'm aware. Read Less

Have been a customer for over seven years. Lately service has gone down the drain as the owners seem to have a factory mentality of rushing everyone in and out. The last two times they haven't listened and just done what they want. When I asked to file my own nails to fix the shape the female owner was rude and disparaging basically telling me to go elsewhere which only made me angrier. If a customer of seven yrs is unhappy you stop and pause and reflect and Not act all high and mighty and rude. Will not be returning, I will vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere. I've been going to Sweetwater Nails & Spa off and on for about 4 years. It's close to my office (AND right next to a Starbucks), so it's super convenient. Overall, the employees are nice but the nail services are hit or miss. Sometimes my nails are good, others MEH. The past 4-6 times though have been consistently subpar, so I'm definitely finding myself a new nail spot for my lunch break manis. Also, lately it seems like the establishment is lacking more so in the hygiene area...which is PRETTY important in a nail salon. For example, today I noticed the nail tech using an old medicine cap to hold the acetone while she cleaned up the edges of my nails. It had crusty pink residue around it, so I'm assuming it was an old pepto cap...yummo (photo uploaded)! The salon itself could use a good scrub down...the stations have dust and grit, the nail dryer was really dirty and it grossed me out. I also noticed today that I couldn't find the prices clearly printed anywhere (could be me, though). I was charged $5 to take off my shellac polish which isn't a huge deal, but other salons I go to normally don't charge for that if you get another service. When I asked the owner explained they charge $5, unless you get a shellac manicure then it's free (I just got a regular mani this time). So the mani was $18 + $5 for shellac take off. Again, not a huge deal but something I wanted to note. In my opinion, Sweetwater Nail & Spa is a super basic/decent-ish job nail place. I stopped in on Friday afternoon after being a co-worker told me about this place. I was in the Sugar Land area for the day and couldn't wait until I got back into the city for a pedicure. I was leery but she insisted all the nail techs were "so good" so I figured I'd give them a try. When I arrived, the guy at the register asked what kind of service I would like. I said "a basic pedicure, the cheapest one you have". During my pedicure, the nail tech says to me, "I give you $35 dollar pedicure". I paused. A minute later I asked "It's $35 for a basic pedicure? I'd like whatever the basic is". She says "$30". I think she still ended up up-selling me because she brought out some HOT HOT paraffin wax. I let her do her thing because I was over it at that point. Had the polish been done right, I would have been okay paying the extra fee. But one toe is already starting to bubble (just 3 days later) because the polish was applied so terribly. It could have just been my nail tech but I would not recommend this place. The decor is very outdated and they don't offer any beverages besides a miniature bottle of luke warm water. Maybe I'm spoiled but I just wasn't impressed.Oh, and parking is a nightmare! Read Less

Not so impressed with their work eventhough my friend talked highly about their svc. There were a lot of techs available and thats a good thing but the quality of the work is not so. I felt like I could've done better doing it myself. Although sweetwater does nails well, I felt it was necessary to make sure everyone tells their nail technician to not cut their cuticles, only push back. They often cut too much and make me bleed. Yesterday, the lady made a really deep cut to the point where my finger was throbbing the entire time. She did not know what to do and kept wiping a dry rag over it, making it worse. I've been icing it ever since, and it is still in pain after a full day of healing. She did not wait for the bleeding to stop and continued to do the shellac French manicure--I now have blood baked under the clear part of my manicure. :( Read Less

The manager Kelly is moody; sometimes nice, and other times snappy and rude. She did not honor her price, when I was overcharged. I was charged for shellac when I did not get that particular service. Tsk, tsk. However, I've always received good quality service from the employees. Its also in a convenient location. I came in less than a week ago to get my toes done. They didn't look good when I left originally, but it took so long to get done that I just wanted to leave. I had a shellac manicure done and the next my nail polish chipped. The tech got upset with me because I did not want her to remove my polish by file instead soak it off; then accidently spilled warm water on me. I only gave 3 stars for the fantastic foot massage and pleasant manager. Read Less

This is really a 3.5 star rating- sometimes they do great and I am extremely satisfied; other times I'm not too satisfied. The Pedi is always good, but be sure to note which pedi service you want- they'll upgrade your pedi, which is an extra charge, but won't ask for permission. For nails, I would suggest that as soon as you find someone that satisfies your needs, stick with them! I always forget the ladies' names and end up with a different person each time. I'm pretty sure that's why I've experienced inconsistency in quality of service. But overall, they do a pretty good job. Definitely pricey, but I only get my nails done 4-5 times a year (full set typically) so I just want to go somewhere I am comfortable- I'm too afraid to try somewhere else (and somewhere cheaper at that). The service is ok, however the quality is not consistent, I have been cut and bleed before. I go there because it's convenient and walk in availability. The problem I have is they changing the price or cutting services and there's never a  notice, and the technicians may or may not ask you when they perform the "extra" services. Read Less

I came in an hour before closing and the nail technician did not use sterilized equipment. She quickly proceeded to slap on some exfoliant and cut my nails in an awkward fashion. To say the least, this was equal in price as a reputable nail place but without the quality service. My pedicure was so fast that it defeated the purpose of coming in for self-care and relaxation. Even though I made an appt, they still ran 20 min late. I have limited free time and cannot afford for this delay. I have heard other negative things about this place but didn't want to believe them. Linh did my mani. She was very soft spoken and sweet. The employees were professional and didn't talk about their clients. The place would be nice if it wasn't so cluttered. Had a pleasant first time experience with Lilly! I didn't make an appointment so I did a walk-in and John was very welcoming. The decor and atmosphere is very lively and fancy. I wanted acrylics with powder and my nails turned out better than I had hoped. She was very meticulous in her work and I was very pleased. I noticed that they do not have any of their prices listed at the front. It was my mistake that I didn't ask how much my nails were going to cost me before she started working on me. It ended up being $40 which is more than I've ever paid to get my nails done. She informed me that a refill for next time would be $31. My sisters have gone to this place to get acrylics and theirs turned out to be $35 so I definitely got ripped off. Every time a customer was done, John would yell across the salon in vietnamese and ask the technician how much she wants to charge their customer. They don't really have set prices which means it can fluctuate whenever. Keep this in mind if you're a first time customer! Also, their 20 minute neck/shoulder massage is great!
