Wow! This girl, April, needs to be in a med-spa (although I'm glad she's not so she can remain this affordable).I live in Austin but travel to San Antonio quite frequently and decided on a whim to get a facial at a nearby salon called Medusa Brook Hollow.  After discussing my skincare needs, April suggested I should try a Radio Frequently Collagen Production treatment.  It's best purchased in a package but I was skeptical so I only purchased one.  She is very knowledgeable about skin care and could answer all of my questions...which there were many.  I mean c'mon, it's my FACE!   So, the treatment uses a wand that delivers radio frequency to heat up the skin and stimulate "fibroblasts" that will, over time, produce collagen for skin tightening results.  (Whaaatt?!!! Who doesn't want tighter skin? Am I right?)  Let me tell you, the immediate results were shocking. The smile lines or "parentheses" were gone in one 30 minute treatment!  Hallelujah !  I had to buy the package after that point.  One thing to note, after the treatment you face stays a little red for about an hour and feels like a mild sunburn.  Nothing a little foundation can't cover up.  By the next day, all redness was gone and my skin was glowing. So far, I've completed 4 out of 10 treatments and I will add a final result photo after the treatments are done.  So far, I am in love with the results and I feel like I've found an affordable way to reverse time.  Just what you need when you're almost 40. I really wanted to get a color and cut job because I haven't done my hair in over 6 months+. Today was the day because I got out of work early and I was in the area.  This spot looks hip/gothic like and next to a tattoo parlor but the service is what counts and they delivered.  The reviews were good and when I called they had Hailey available in the next hour.  She was personable and wanted to make sure of what I wanted.  I'm happy with my trim and layers with the medium brown color job.  The color came out slightly darker but nothing that looked bad.  Parking may be a challenge if you come on a busy day because there's limited spots on the side and back of the building. First visit went great, I cut about 6 inches off and completely changed my hair style $55 well spent. Second visit I went in for a TRIM and cost me the same as it did to completely change it. It's been a few years now since I found Brenda at Medusa salon and I haven't gone anywhere else since then, so please excuse the long review, but it's certainly overdue and well deserved. I must say that I tried at least 7 or 8 different highly reviewed salons when I moved to SA, some where instant nos, and a few were missing something just enough to make me keep looking. Medusa the salon and other staff are important to me too, the salon is always clean, it has a good vibe, ...the staff is friendly, and I like the location. However, it is ultimately the stylist that makes it or breaks it for me. Brenda is a very talented stylist - technically, artistically and personally. Brenda has been cutting, coloring, and treating my hair almost every other month, either for one thing or all, and she has always done an amazing job. My hair isn't super demanding, although it is long, wavy and have lots of it, but I'm very particular in what I do with it, and Brenda always gets it just right (including times where I've asked her to do whatever she wants). She's also flexible when it comes to availability (I suck at making appts way ahead of time), always on time, and always genuinely friendly. While I haven't had a chance to meet Brenda outside the salon, I consider her a friend, always up for a conversation and respectful when I'm not into it. I made an appointment with Halee to get a color correction...I came in with brown chunky lowlights courteousy of a different salon and halee took me back to my beautiful platinum blonde hair. I waited a few days before reviewing to see if I can't try to style them better but they're just too short and not what I asked for. Michael is an artist!  He took my wimpy, dried-out, lanky baby-fine mop and turned it into an edgy wavy layered bob, complete with highlights to bring out the layers. He's a lot of fun to talk to as well!  The stylists at Medusa are independent contractors, so Michael's prices are competitive and fair, especially for the level of service you get.  He also has his own Square credit card reader, so if the salon's payment system is down, he can still take credit cards.  The only tiny issue I have with Medusa is parking.  There's a small lot off to the side and back of the building, or there's street parking.  The lot across the street is for the flower shop only, and they close at 5 so if you're parked there, you're basically locked in for the night.  Other than that, I'll keep coming back!! I met Michael a couple years ago and have not been to anyone else since. I can be one picky brod with my hair and Michael will make me happy every time! Not only is he great with any type of coloring and cut he is a wonderful person. I seriously look forward to seeing him and he always knows how to put a smile on my face. The Salon is great, but my stylist, Michael, has no showed on me three times in the last three months. Twice this weekend, which is the weekend before my daughters wedding. Now I have to scramble to try and find someone to cut and color my hair last minute and fit it into work and everything else that’s going on this week. I was Lauren's hair model for a class in Austin for two days. Lauren is a fourth generation hair stylist. She tirelessly colored and styled my hair using Organic Colour Systems. Organic Colour Systems contains 1% PPD, and no ammonia or resorcinol. I loved the loose curls for my blowout! My hair looks amazing since Clyde at Medusa started using their organic dye in my hair. I am prematurely grey and my hair has lost most of its pigment so every three weeks it's time to get the roots done. So with so many years of hair coloring I've tried allot of dyes and colors. Got a hair cut by Sonia today! I did a lob (long bob) I'm over the moon with my hair and Sonia was a delight to work with. She specializes in naturally curly hair and I could tell she really knew her stuff. Gave me lots of tips I'd never heard of. My boyfriend got his hair did by Sophia today and hands down it's the best cut he's ever had. He looks more handsome than ever & he was super pleased with his cut. He said Sophia was very meticulous, took her time and gave him the exact haircut he wanted. Although none of this surprises me as Sophia has been my hair stylist for years for the exact reasons as stated above, I was still amazed at how good his cut came out. I go to see Michael Gonzalez for my cut and color needs!I naturally have dirty blonde hair, but I had first gone red with another stylist. After wanting to change the shade of my red and being less than happy with my results, I first saw Michael in December 2014... And I haven't seen anyone else since! Although I haven't changed my color much in that time, he always gives me a beautiful, rich, deep red that my coworkers have described as "a nice merlot" that lasts forever. Michael often has other stylists at the salon asking him what formula he used for my hair! Red fades out notoriously quickly, and I take care of it on my own at home, but I'm able to go 6-8 weeks between visits. The faded color looks great on it own as well, although it is clearly more of a red/red than a wine/red. Mostly I'm forced to go back simply because my roots are showing, as opposed to being unhappy with the faded color!I did a major cut to a bob last month, and I couldn't have been happier. Michael loves his art -- I was texting him Pinterest photo inspirations the day before and he was soo excited when I showed up for my appointment! I'm OBSESSED with my haircut, it's everything I wanted it to be -- blunt, choppy, volume, edgy, yet simple. I still get compliments on my hair more than a month after making the chop. Michael's prices are fair; all the stylists own their own business so it isn't standardized throughout the salon. Parking can be a little tricky, oftentimes I've "illegally" parked at the flower shop across the street and walked over. There are usually refreshments available. The main salon is somewhat cramped -- if you show up super early and have to wait, you're pretty much limited to a cramped community table smack in the middle of the salon. Read Less

I had a stylist at Medusa named Brenda and she was horrible with professionalism and does not do color very well. I showed her a picture of honey medium blonde mixed with dark blonde and she gave me copper over my partial blonde highlights. I ended up with strawberry blonde and pink streaks. She also was constantly on her phone texting and talking. While talking to the other stylist in Spanish ( I am a non-Spanish speaking customer). Brenda has a hard time accepting when the hairstyle does not go the way the customer wanted it. She denies it looks wrong and thinks it looks good, even if it is not what the customer asked for. Other stylist had also made comments about coming up with a code to talk to each other, or pig latin Spanish as a joke. I do not find this place professional and Brenda needs to find a new day job.
