After reading all the bad reviews I decided to give this place a try. I'm glad I did I was very happy with the service. It reminded me of my hometown SF. My nail tech was Michael he did a great job. My nails were nasty I was in need for a mani badly and was way over due. Before he started I told him how I like my nails clean.He clean them really good. A lot of people hate on this nail shop because the techs speak their language and people can't understand them so they think they are talking shit when they are not don't listen to the haters try it for yourself. I was in town to visit friends for a couple of days and was badly in need of a manicure as well as an eyebrow wax for an upcoming party. I saw this place during a grocery run the day before but was reluctant due to the low ratings here on yelp. My friends and I decided to ignore the old, outdated reviews on here and ended up going. We are SO glad we did. Yelper Mirko's review was right. The service was exceptional and it seemed more of like an upscale salon I would find back home in Los Angeles. As soon as we entered, Johnny greeted us and tended to us right away. I got Ivy who was beyond sweet, not to mention talented. My nails were gross and embarrassing because of work but Ivy made them look so healthy and beautiful! She also waxed my eyebrows! I was really nervous at first because I've had bad experiences with other salons who made me look like a bad 2002 music video star with thin drawn on eyebrows but Ivy was so attentive to what I wanted! She even gave recommendations based on what style fit me. She really knew what she was doing and that made me feel secure. And honestly I don't understand why the other reviewers were complaining about them only speaking their language. They spoke English almost the whole time we were there, with only the occassional comment in their language about a show that was on. Overall, I highly recommend going here! This place was exceptional. I was a bit apprehensive about going in for a manicure after reading these negative reviews, but since the owner (Johnny) took the time to reply to them and fired that Cathy lady, I decided to give it a chance during my vacation in Mission. I'm definitely satisfied with the service I received from Johnny.Usually, nail salons are harsh with my cuticles and tend rush, or  make some rookie mistake like filing against the grain, giving me goosebumps in all the wrong places. But Johnny was totally patient and made me feel like a valued customer. I could tell he knew what he was doing. He listened to my specific directions about the shape I wanted, which was an important detail for me. You're probably thinking, "well who could mess up a manicure?" Trust me, there are those out there.However, since Allure nails has their basics down, I definitely feel that they could handle more complicated requests. Another plus was that people here spoke English, so there was no language barrier (which I usually face at most nail salons). All in all, this place is definitely a hidden gem. Cathy did my manicure and pedicure. My "deluxe" pedicure lasted all of ten minutes. She was trimming my cuticles during my manicure so quickly that it was painful and she completely tore the cuticle of my little finger off. I was bleeding like a stuck pig. She also refused to give me the colors I wanted (black and purple-I'm a Ravens fan) and said they would be ugly. She also talked smack about the other girls working, saying they took too long. I would have much preferred one of the other girls who seemed to care about doing a good job. When Cathy was finished, she raced to the laptop in the back of the shop. Don't waste your money, they do a sloppy job and don't even ask what package you want they just give you the most expensive. Lady had her own idea of what i wanted and did not do the design i wanted. Had to redo my nails when I got home. Read Less

Worst shellac, polish on my actual fingers. She realized at the end and tried to cut it off but she made it look worse ): they do have the largest color assortment for shellac colors, I might go back and let someone else do my nails. I don't recommend Cathey. Read Less

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I've been working in the Valley for about 3 weeks and was past due for a manicure. I should have known better when I saw that this place wasn't busy. I wanted my nails filed and even and she cut one! I just let her cut the rest so they could be even. I felt like she just rushed through it. Since I didn't want color (I work outside so it would last long anyway), I just asked for clear. While my nails we drying, I took a look to see if they were dry. They were completely uneven!! I also asked for them to be round and they were ALL SQUARE! I could have lived with them being square if they weren't so uneven. I asked for them to be filed properly and she just filed them shorter and still square! Three times!!!! I finally said, "It's fine. Just finish." Even though it wasn't fine at all. I did not let her put polish on since I'll just have to fix the filing when I get home. That's going to be very difficult though since I barely have any nails left to file. Do not go to this place. I didn't even leave a tip after this. Don't judge me. There was no reason to, my nails look awful and I'm actually a very generous tipper when I'm satisfied. I regret paying the $12 though. I should have said that I wasn't going to pay because my nails look absolutely horrible and super short. If you MUST get your nails done, you can do a million times better by doing it yourself at home. Read Less
