This was the worst experience I had. I initially set up an appointment online to have a simple wrap set done. I was told the price was $30. About 1hr after I set up my appointment I got a call stating the person I set an appointment with doesn’t do African American hair and said I could be set up with someone else. No prices or nothing was given I get to the salon and the lady wet my hair ,wrapped it. And flat ironed it. 1st my hair looks like it was never touched with flat irons then I get the register to be told the price was $60. I was very upset and asked why she stated because. She’s a “master stylist “ whatever That means . I expressed that I was told $31 she stated that she was two levels above that person therefore I have to pay more.... I lived in Richardson at the time of starting my search for someone I could trust to color my hair. Like anyone else would do, I drove to the nearest location to my home which happened to be the jc penny salon in Plano. It was a terrible experience in fact i literally left in tears! They all gathered around and looked as if they didn't want to touch my hair. Maybe because i had quite a bit and it's very thick and long...Idk. My goal was to get corrective color first then slowly make my way to platinum blonde. To prevent having any damaging or chemical cuts. They literally told me it would be impossible to get blonde (and i literally had blonde pieces throughout my hair) and i would need to cut it to my shoulders and go dark first then return in 6months. I knew that wasn't right I actually have my cosmetology license and i knew they were pretty much telling me anything to get me out of there or to make their job easier! The stylist then said "sorry, i wish we could do your hair but we can't." So after leaving very upset i thought oh no, could i really be stuck with this ugly brassy hair forever?! Cause dying it dark was not an option i knew better!... I went to my car and Googled another salon and the Mesquite location popped up I called and that's when my Angel/Miracle worker Thomas answered!! I cried to him how they treated me and what my ultimate goal was. He listened attentively and told me what all needed to happen to get the color i desired.  He happens to be a color specialist and he was confident he could fix my hair!! Well he was absolutely right!!! after maybe 3 appointments Thomas had my hair beautiful healthy and blonde!!! He's very affordable, talented and very honest! I will not go to anyone else for a cut or color he is my hair GOD!! Seriously! If he moves i will travel to him!!! I just recently had an appointment with him and guess what I'M PLATINUM BLONDE! I just moved to Mesquite, I was a walk in and referred to a stylist that was new. It took 4.5 hours to get highlights and a hair cut.  I left not even realizing how bad my hair was. I took survey on my receipt and realized I was also charged for deep conditioning treatment that I never got.  I asked to be contacted by a manager, which I was and she redid my hair and also gave me deep conditioning treatment I was charged for. I was only there 3.5 hours the second time... left with with attitude it is best it can be considering where it was.  The next day my hair turned a muddy orange color. I called the manager three times now, but she will not call me back.  I am going to follow up with store manager. JCPenny should be a name you can trust... But do not trust this salon! Beware!! Kayla at the JCP Salon in Town East Mall of Mesquite, does an AMAZING job. My hair is naturally very dark and I'm part Hispanic so my hair is a very dark, warm, hair color but not quite black. But somehow, every kind of blonde highlight I wanted to try, she was able to pull off without my hair looking too brassy or orange. She did one color I didn't like in the two years I've gone to her, and she corrected it for free the next week when I was able to come back. As most stylists should do. Plus, I didn't know what color I wanted and told her multiple things and I couldn't make up my mind so she got confused. But she was patient with me none-the-less. I've previously been to a girl that ruined my hair and suggested I bleach my whole head.......this girl was fresh out of school and screwed my hair up all kinds of ways....This is when I found Kayla. I went into the salon and asked for a color correction  specialist. They suggested Kayla and I've been happy ever since! Read Less
