It’s early Nov 2017. My normal nail salon is a great place in Lubbock called Venice Nail and Spa. They happened to be closed the day, about 2.5 weeks aho, when I wanted a manicure. So although nervous about trying a new place, I really wanted a mani and decided on Pretty Nails. The main older lady lacks customer service skills... Like, even the most basic ones. Short, visibly annoyed, and she literally disregarded the type of nails I requested. I clearly said at least twice that I wanted a DIP manicure. When she began the process, I thought it peculiar the way she was applying the fake nails/gel, but I’ve honestly not gotten my nails done enough to instantly know the difference to a detail between nail styles. Besides that, I asked many times to cut the fake tips shorter, and then at a certain point she just went ahead and decided on a length... Anyway. I felt as if she wouldn’t listen so I didn’t say anything. She finished my nails, I pay, and leave. They were way too long for me. Nothing worse than feeling annoying or unimportant at a business that you’ve freely chosen to spend your money at, for a trade that can be done anywhere else, by anyone else. Then a few days later I realize that she had given me an ACRYLIC manicure, which I do know weakens your nails and isn’t as good as, say, dip. The style I asked for. I was furious. I’m a student at SPC; 40 is a lot to spend. Even more when it’s on something you don’t want.
I stopped by the salon in the morning no more than 4-5 days after getting the manicure to talk to the woman. She was not there, although she is a managerial type within the store. The only lady there at the time spoke NO English, so nothing registered with her about what I was talking about when expressing my dissatisfaction and irration. Finally she got across to me that I should come back the next day to talk to the other woman. But at that point I didn’t feel like I would’ve been compensated or even heard by coming back to complain, so I just never went back. Don’t waste your money or time at this salon. Not impressed at all. Read Less
