OMG! It's like it's said, you can't please everyone all the time. I have been getting my nails done with Rosa for at least 20 years, she has always done an outstanding job especially since my natural nails are at least 6 inches long. In all this time, I have never had any issues with my nails. I have been to several other places and they don't do nails my length or they want to cut them off. With Rosa I have always had superior services. She has her own techniques, and as technology has evolved so has she. I have had times when I've broken a nail bed and by the time she gets done, I am no longer in pain and one can't even tell which nail it was. You get what you pay for at this place. Had a shellac "manicure" on a Thursday afternoon. The salon looked was a hodgepodge of various thrift store decor items but was clean enough. People were eating their lunch to the right of me in the closet...er, break room...and some guys were talking about having sex with chicks who "say they missed their pill". Ok, so the manicure begins. A cuticle remover was placed on my nails and the tech began pushing them back as soon as she finished applying the softener/remover on my pinky. No time to allow the product to work, no soaking, no "sanitizing" as was previously stated by the owner in another review. The tech was nice and friendly enough without being too intrusive. She asked me to wash my hands and clean my nails with a dirty, and obviously used, nail brush. She grabbed the cuticle scissors from another room where it sounded as though she was rifling through a pile of metal crap. She applied the shellac and I noticed several bubbles and missed spots after the first layer. I figured she would correct these mistakes. Wrong. Second layer, same. Third layer, same. I was so tired and just wanted to get out of there. $15 later and I could have done a better job myself. I left a decent tip because I always tip well unless you're downright rude.She said she gets the supplies from Sally's so I'll just pop in and grab them myself and save some money.One week later, they're cracking and look horrible. Horrible experience. I decided to give this place a try since it's closer to my home. I Went in for the "special" they had for shellac and a manicure. It was the worst manicure ever and the shellac looked like a five year old did it. I paid $30 and demanded that they fix them. All the manager did was splatter more shellac on my nails instead of redoing it all. That's when she notified me that the person who did it was "learning" so that's why they had the special. Then she has the decency to tell me she usually charges $40 for what I had done today. I told her that is rather pay $40 than to have a crappy job done. The special is misguided and they should inform you its with someone who is barely "learning". The girl had a license on the wall!! How is she barely learning!??!!?? Ridiculous. Just stop it. This has to be a JOKE!!! This place is unbelievably horrible. DO NOT GO HERE. At least look at the pictures other people have posted!!! Their Groupon ONLY includes shellac nail and toe application. So apparently application is just the painting of your nails. This is not a manicure or pedicure. LOL I don't know about you, but that's a polish change. I have never heard of anyone getting a shellac toe polish change without the pedicure. I felt ripped off. Not to mention, I waited an hour for my appointment. They removed my shellac, and I found out what the Groupon  was after being there AN HOUR. I asked what the fee would be to upgrade to shellac pedicure and she said 20.00!!!! I told her about another local groupon and she said she doesn't compare with the competition. Understatement of the century!!!!!!! She also started raising her voice when I told her that her Groupon is misleading. Don't go there. Matter of fact RUN the opposite direction. DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON! My manicurist was very sweet and polite. However, my Shellac "application" was a rip off   My nails and CUTICLES are covered in thick messy gel polish that starting chipping the very next day. This is the go to place for me when I'm counting on my nails to be perfect! There are so many bad reviews on here but I haven't experienced any problems here. I've had my nails done by both Rosa and Joe Anthony. Both technicians are awesome and I always leave happy! With every other salon I've always either been disappointed or found something wrong. I've used groupons here before and they still take their time on you and do a great job! No, they do not have a fancy place with bells and whistles. However, they are very clean! In my opinion, the services done and the attitudes of the staff are far more important to me than massage chairs and wine. This place is a little expensive for me, but you do get what you pay for. I'm very picky when it comes to my nails and I have never been disappointed or not liked anything about the service. And about the dry push backs... that's false. Just visited this place for the 2nd time. I had a Groupon. They are very reasonable and have great deals. They also do a wonderful job on my shellac nails. The first time I had them done here, I had many compliments. They also try to work with your schedule. I scheduled my Groupon appointment at the last minute and she called me in when they had a cancellation. Greatly appreciate that. They also massaged my hands and did the manicure with the shellac without me having to pay extra. I always do their Groupons when I get a chance. Read Less

I have been coming to Rosa, owner, for 3 years & I love her place, professional and always does a great job. I cut my hair short with her when I donated my long hair for cancer patients 3 yrs ago, and I have kept coming back to her :-) She is my hairstylist, cuts my pixie hair and she does shellac great. Awful shellac manicure! I recently went here after I purchased a groupon for a shellac manicure and as the saying goes "you get what you pay for." I left with shellac on my cuticles, an awful polish job, and my nails were jagged and crooked. The nail clipper the technician was using appeared to be old and dirty and it barely could cut my nails. For every nail she had to pull pieces of nail off that the clippers couldn't cut through. I have one nail that was cut slanted and other nails that were cut way too short. When the technician went to cut my cuticles I got even more nervous because the clippers appeared to be rusted. The appointment kept going down hill from there. Next she poorly and slowly applied the shellac. It must have taken her 45 minutes alone to just put on the polish and let it sit under the lamp. After it was all done I had one nail that was bumpy and other nails that looked like a five year old painted them. Although I only paid $19 for the manicure it wasn't worth it because within the next week I'm going to have to go to my usual salon and pay $50 just to get this mess fixed. Read Less

I arrived to the location 10 minutes early expecting to be able to start right at the scheduled appointment time but 15 minutes later I am still waiting. Only one client is here who is getting her hair and nails done by the same technician. A little worried how it will go after I just read the other reviews while I am sitting here waiting....fifteen minutes later, the nail technician finally shows up. As stated on here previously, the manicure wasn't done right: no soak, cuticles pushed back dry-which is painful, fuzz from the towel all over the place and the color was painted over the cuticle. I know it was a groupon and businesses offer promotions to bring new clients into their establishment in hopes of retaining new clientele however it didn't seem they were interested in return business-just interested in making quick cash.  I wouldn't recommend this place if asked. Worst shellac by far! Living social coupon stated shellac manicure and like others I experienced a dry push back of my cuticles and a subpar shellac painting. You get what you pay for. I bought a Groupon. Purchased: Jul 25, 2012 Description on Groupon:$15 for a Shellac Manicure ($35 Value). A technician files and shapes nails before tending to cuticles. Shellac polish is applied and then cured with a special lamp that helps it stay in place for up to two weeks without chipping.And true to the description that is exactly what I received. So I guess I can't complain when there was no hand soak, my cuticles where pushed back dry, and left over polish was removed with a file and not remover. A bonus that was not in the description I did receive a dab of lotion after she was done to rub on my hands as I left that smelt good.Another Plus they had several  (20+) colors to pick from. A small part of polish on my  thumb did peel about an hour later, they did offer to fix it but I wasn't able to go back. I do like Shellac nails. They where nice and strong, none of my nails broke while on vacation. This place would be great for someone who is doesn't want all the hullabaloo that comes with a manicure. I personally like the hullaballoo but that wasn't part of the groupon I bought but would of paid extra if it was offered.They did get me in the same day I called on a Friday, someone cancelled or else I would of had to wait till Monday, so make an appointment, saw a few walkins turned away, a pretty busy place for a salon that looks likes double wide trailer. worst mani/pedi i have ever had!  the pedicure was very basic, yet the most expensive one i've ever had.  it looked like a teenager with no training did it.  i tried the shellac polish on my fingernails and it, too, was amatuerish.  i was left with most of my cuticles bleeding and the polish was applied over the cuticles, which means as soon as my nails grew out just a schootch the polish was raised from my nail bed and proceeded to get caught on everything.  what a waste of my time.  not to mention the technician hit on me the entire time and regaled me with tales of his criminal youth.  if i wasn't concerned for my safety i would have left without being gouged on these services. This place is AWFUL! The lady that did my mani pedi was so sweet but painted my fingers like my five year old cousin does. They nickel and dime you for everything they wanted to charge an additional $5 to remove Shellac, an additional $14 to do shellac, and an additional $6 for french! I paid $22 for a mani/pedi on Living Social and in the end it would have cost me the same amount somewhere else. I got here and she dipped my feet into a bucket then put lotion on them and painted the color. That is NOT a pedicure. Same thing for my manicure, I was so disappointed after being there for two hours I asked her to please remove the color and I left. This was by far the WORST salon I've been to in my life. Went here for a mani/pedi with a LivingSocial deal. $27 for shellac nails and an express pedi! Not too shabby if you ask me. The ambiance was a little disorganized, but the staff was really friendly and chatty. Plus the shellac nails are FANTASTIC!A headsup for anyone expecting a super fancy pedi chair with the tub at the bottom, this will not be for you. My stylist filled a portable pedi bucket in the bathroom, plugged it in by the massage chair (which didn't adjust anymore) and off we went. I'm not picky so this was fine. Warm water, bubbles and someone painting my toes a lovely purple!Overal great experience. It's a little out of the way for me, especially at rush hour when it takes forever to get up Bandera Rd.
