Whitney is fantastic! I've Been a client with her for over two years and she does amazing hair color, cut, ombre you name it, she can do it. She also has done my 14 year old daughters hair and she LOVES her. We both won't let anyone touch our hair but Whitney. Most expensive couple massage, and the worst couple massage I have ever experience. Being that I went to school for massage therapy.. this and have had massages... This was the worst... Few month back, My first visit to the spa was nice, Julia did a great job( facial).  My blow out was not great, I will not do it again.  I am back in Irving area.  I called to book a facial,  way ahead of time to be sure I can get a facial after work.  I received a call on the day of the facial at 3 pm letting  me know that I did not show up for my appointment.  Well, my appointment was at 6.... I love this place. I've been coming here to get my hair done from the same hairstylist since before it was bought out by the Omni Hotel.  I went there the other day and purchased some hair styling products.  To my dismay, the sprayer on the bottle of Kevin.Murphy Shimmer Shine stopped working the third time I used it (as luck would have it, I was heading out for an evening engagement when it stopped working).  :-(  Anyhow, I called the store and they said they would replace it, no problem, but I had to use up my lunch hour and gas driving from downtown Dallas all the way out to Las Colinas.  You would think they would've let me keep the defective one as a way of saying "Sorry for your trouble". I've been coming here for years!  Beautiful place and very clean.  The salon is 2 stories with a gorgeous view of the lake.  Debbie has been cutting, coloring, highlighting my hair for years - she's wonderful and has good ideas for cuts and color.  All the stylists are very experienced and do wonderful hair.  The salon also does nails, makeup and massages.  I've had my nails done once and loved the experience - the nail tech did an excellent job and it was very relaxing.  I highly recommend Mokara! AVOID! I was staying at the hotel and called for a blowout 2 hours in advance of my appointment. I was told they could fit me in no problem. Getting to the salon was a feat itself because you have to walk outside, behind the parking garage and there are no signs or directional markers. I walked in the door and there was no check in to be seen. A girl came down the stairs halfway and assumed I was there for a pedicure. No. She checked me in and told me to wait on the couch that had brown dye or something on the pillows. Gross. I waited for 20 minutes before anyone even approached me to tell me my person would be with me soon. No wine, no communication, nothing. After 30 minutes, the girl came to get me. She was nice enough but made several awkward comments that left me feeling uncomfortable. At the end of the appointment, I had been there for 1.5 hours and had ZERO curl in my hair and uneven volume that I had to go back and fix in my hotel room. No one told me where to check out so I assumed upstairs and had to ask the lady at the desk if that was where I pay. $45 dollars and a hour and half later, this was the worst salon experience I have had ever. Horrible!!!  I live locally and have gone here before. I took my wife in here this past Saturday to get a couple swedish massage for our anniversary, They have you fill out this paperwork before you go in for how you want things, etc. Apparently they never look at the sheet because I spent 300 dollars on the massages only to have the woman put stuff all over my face when it asked clearly on the sheet if I wanted my face touched. I specifically asked to focus on my hands as I'm in I.T. She never touched them. 300 dollars and an Anniversary!!! The only thing they asked was if I was staying at the hotel, as if that had anything to do with it. Seriously, the massage therapist needs to be fired, it didn't even seem like she was a real massage therapist. Never again will I spend money at this place. WAY overpriced for some cucumber water and a shitty massage! Read Less

Very nice facility. Great location on the lake. Super nice people. If you are looking for a bargain, go to massage envy or your strip mall nail place. I have been all over Dallas and received massages  by plenty. My husband bought me a spa day here and I was skeptical . I thought the price was ok but would the service be worth it? Boy was it! Trey did my massage and she's a cute petite girl but strongest hands and in tune with my knots. Stacy did my facial and she was terrific. Very knowledgable  in what I needed to do to better my skin on my time. My face is magazine ready! Barbara did my mani-pedi and even though you're there to relax she was really fun to talk to. Very expensive with horrible service and poor quality. It wasn't much of a massage rather than someone pinching your skin, while doing the manicure I accidentally hit the UV Gell Dryer and the lady doing my nails just put more Gell intop, so before I even left the place my nails started to peel. I was staying at the Omni Mandalay and decided to use the Mokara Spa.  I had a Fountain of Youth facial and massage with Tremise, which was amazing.  I also had a mani-pedi with Barbara and only wish I could take both these ladies back with me to Switzerland!!  Relaxing spa and lovely location.  Highly recommend! I won a gift certificate here during a charity fundraiser.  After a trip abroad, and marathon training I figured it was high time I was due for some pampering.  I booked a massage and a pedicure.  I have to say off the bat I'm not a fan of massages in the first place.  My back muscles are so tight and I am so ticklish that the whole event is never enjoyable  So why did I go? Because everyone likes them so much, shouldn't I as well?At first I parked on the street and started walking into the spa and realized they had a few parking spots in a tiny lot so I went back to my car and moved it.  The receptionist was very nice and walked me to the locker room after I checked in.  My message was a-ok, but I was completely lost when I was brought back to the relaxing room but no one told me where to go from there.  At all other spas I've been to with multiple appointments either the first person your appointment is with tells you where to go next or the next person you're appointment is with comes and gets you.  Well neither of these happened with made for an awkward Seinfeld-esque locker room experience.  Do I change?  Do I not change?  Do I go back to the reception desk?  After 10 minutes I decided to change and go back to the receptionist.  She then walked me to the nail room.  The nail room did have nice gigantic windows but I was surprised that there was no additional light.  I really wanted to ask the manicurist if she had enough light because I was sure she didn't.  While again I did have a gift certificate, I was surprised that for the amount of the pedicure that more wasn't done (really cleaning up the cuticles, shaping the nails, etc).  The pedicure looked nice, but I've had better.  The major positives with this spa was that it was quiet and very tranquil.  A great place to go if you want to unwind.  However, if you are looking for a high quality of the services performed, then I'd have to believe there is better here in Dallas. I recently purchased a Spa package called the Mokara Retreat where I received a facial, massage, mani and pedi. OMG! what a treat. Cheryl provided the massage and facial so it was really nice not having to get up to switch rooms for each service. She was wonderful! She was very knowlegeable about the products she used on my skin during my facial and the massage was fantastic! After two hours of complete relaxation, I had to somehow manage to move my limp body, to their pedicure room. Barbara took great care of me for my pedi and mani and did a beautiful job. (The pedicure room is really nice and overlooks Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas.) Oh, while I received my pedi, I ordered lunch from their spa lunch menu and got some great crab cakes. Yum! (The food was prepared and delivered from the Omni Mandalay Hotel next door.) I highly recommend trying out Mokara. I went on a Wednesday, which was perfect. The salon was busy but the spa wasn't so busy that I couldn't book the services last minute, like I did. I have 2 other friends of mine going back with me in a few weeks for manis and pedis, hair and make up, for a Christmas party! Read Less

This salon is a mess! Most stylists left all at once because they were unhappy about something. So I tried a new stylist named MaiTai, I asked for light brown highlights on my dark brown hair. My highlights came out screaming white-yellow, and my hair was FRIED and breaking off. Then the stylist actually argued with me about whether it looked good or not. My long hair will be exceptionally dry and fried until this mess grows out, which will take years. I obtained a refund and two free color corrections, but NOT much of an apology or a supply of deep conditioners that I will have to purchase for years to come. Do not go to Mokara!! Read Less

I like spas, but I don't like hoity-toity spas.  It's not relaxing.  I had a good feeling when I walked into Mokara in Las Colinas.  Some spas have soft lighting because they figure making you sleepy is the same thing as relaxing you.  The Mokara lobby in Irving has gigantic windows with tranquil views of Lake Carolyn.  The natural light is so inviting, especially after sitting under fluorescent lights at work all the time.  The nail lounge also has a large window with a view, which you face as you get your nails done.  I highly recommend Gloria who gave me a pedicure.  The foot rub was GREAT.  (If only I could train my husband to do that.)  And she was precise about her work.  She actually put on reading glasses to put on the polish, which was perfectly applied.  I found Mokara because my brother and his fiancee gave me a gift certificate.  Thank you, Michi.  I know it was your idea.  I'm glad my brother is marrying you. Mokara is the most beautiful salon I have ever stepped into although, the foundation and managemnt of the Salon is a complete mess which effects the front desk, client and tecnician. Whitney is now at Rik Tatum located in William Square. Look it up and visit her there. Read Less

I have to give praise the Whitney. I sent my somewhat difficult sister to see Whitney and she was so pleased with her hair color and cut she said she grabbed her and gave her a hug when she left. I have been going to Whitney for the past 7 months and everytime she is consistant, professional and a pleasure to be around. If you are not sure what you want or ready for a change she is always full of suggestions. You can tell she must really love what she does and the people she does it for. It shows in her work!!! I've been to the salon a few times now and have had to use a different stylist two of those times--and I can hontestly say that I haven't had a bad experience. As soon as you walk into the door, the lovely ladies behind the front desk great you with a smile, (and I've heard a couple of obviously returning guests called by name)! The surroundings are beautiful and the salon is full of light due to the many windows around the place! It's very elegant but not pretentious. Everyone is very nice and welcoming--and both of the stylists I've seen have been very patient and actually listened to what I wanted and didn't do what THEY wanted! I loooove this spa and salon!!!! From the moment I walked in the door I was amazed. The front desk was so inviting and made sure I had a drink and was comfortable while I waited for my therapist. I had a very positive experience at Spa Mokara I enjoyed the oxygen treatment I received after the microdermabrasion treatment I also enjoyed the muscle relaxing mud pack on my back . My skin care therapist was very attentive and personable knowledgable about the products and all the staff members were incredibly nice, and the atmosphere was great. I've had probably 8 or 9 facials before but I have never had a facial like the other day! My husband bought me a gift certificate for mother's day & my skin had really been acting up (from what i thought was the weather lately). I made an appointment for a 90 minute facial with Kim- she worked on my skin & did a peel. My skin felt better immediately. Kim told me that the suntan lotion that i was using was probably clogging my pores so she suggested I use one of their acne medications- a great investment because my skin has never looked so good!
