Great work at a reasonable price. Tropical Day Spa offers several package options which enhanced my experience. All the staff are extremely friendly which gave me a good vibe from the start. I was assigned Johnny who I would highly recommend. He did outstanding  work and seemed to take great pride in his work. Although I went there for a basic mani/pedi, I ended up getting the Tropical Combo package which also included a salt scrub, paraffin wax soak, oil massage with hot towels. For an extra $10 I ended up getting a hot stone massage as well which was well worth the cost. Looking forward to my next visit to Dallas. The Tropical Day Spa is a must in my book!!!! Read Less

SO accommodating! Literally my soul sister and I get our nails done so we can catch up. The spa has separate sections for nails and they made special adjustments so we could get our nails done AND sit next to each other! The owner was very present, the staff was kind & supportive! This salon is so cute! Decorated like your favorite beach spot, the staff are all super friendly and talented. Let me start my saying the people there were all very kind and sweet. I feel awful having to leave a bad review, but I know what a good spa is (having worked at spas for years) and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a spa. I went to Tropical Day Spa for a Brazilian wax and in my lifetime I've only had maybe 3 Brazilian waxes total. The table (or bed) was covered by a beach towel. Not what I'm used to seeing. Usually it's a protective plastic cover. She had me undress in front of her which wasn't a big deal for me because I am by no means a modest person but from other experiences I've had they usually leave the room and leave cleansing wipes for you to 'clean yourself' before they come in. After I changed she didn't use any cleansing oil to protect my outermost layer of skin from the wax, instead she just jumped right into the wax. I have one good thing to say, the wax actually didn't hurt compared to the other waxing services I have had. I also watched her to make sure she wore gloves and used a new waxing stick every time she dipped into the wax and thankfully she did. But that wasn't a big enough reason for me to ever come back again. The room wasn't clean either. I couldn't breathe from the amount of dust floating around the room and right above my head was a huge spider on the light. If they don't take pride in the area they work in there is no way they will take care of the clients that walk through the door. Definitely not worth $55!!! Sweet staff, amazing massage at a more than fair price. Atmosphere was tropical themed and very cute. The manager was so pleasant. It was warm and welcoming from the start. I loved it here. Complimentary mimosa and since it wasn't so busy they asked me if I wanted to play some music. Which was awesome! Very exotic for a spa and it's also two stories :) will come back. Atmosphere/Experience: great downtown location walking distance from lots of hotels. A great time to come here is between 2-5 during the week..it wasn't busy at that time. This salon gives more of a tie fly inviting vibe, with a tiki decor theme in a large space. Staff is very friendly and great at engaging their regulars as well as getting to know newcomers like myself. You are also offered complimentary wine or mimosas. Major plus. Making an appointment was easy here, and was greeted immediately upon arrival. I needed a gel Fill and color change. I love this place! The woman at the front door, I assume the owner, is so nice and helpful, she makes you feel right at home. I've been to pink toes down the street as well, it was about $10-$12 more expensive for each treatment and I got more for my money here. I chose the signature mani/pedi and they still included grapefruit slices and rose petals in my water, choice of scrub (try the peppermint at Christmas!), and lotion massage too, without the extra charges.I will definitely be returning. I absolutely love this place, first time and it was the best experience.  So if you know the area you know that just around the corner there is another nail salon that has the neighborhood talking.  So I went to the new shiny penny and receive a good pedicure and for me it was a bit pricey but what the hey, I get an IPad to use in the crisp white booth and sit in the trendy place cool. But I step into tropical day spa and immediately felt like I was on vacation. ..cute...but the best part was, we were serviced on time,  we were greeted with a friendly smile and offered an array of beverages.  Nope not the best part, the best was the actual pedicure and manicure....superb. ..and better yet we got 2 mani, pedi's, cocktails, tip and excellent service for a little more than I paid at the other place for just 1...awesome!  Thanks will be back. ..2 weeks woo hoo! Fabulous & extremely accommodating! I was a walk-in today and I arrived just 5 minutes before a bridal party that was to arrive. Ms. Dianna asked if I could in later as this was my first time and she wanted me to get the whole relaxing experience. However, with my day events I wasn't able to, so Ms. Dianna said we'll take you now but I feel horrible b/c we will have to do your mani and pedi at the same time. I said that was completely fine! I was still pampered! Aaron convinc...ed me to do the new NextGen nails and they turned out fabulous I am in love with them & so happy I trusted his guidance! I felt pampered and I was not rushed at all despite the bridal party arriving. The nail tech's took their time and were meticulous and I was out before the Bride-to-Be sat down to have her nails done. I left feeling pampered and taken care of. The lady who did my pedicure seemed to be a bit of a perfectionist. Which is great for a pedicure! But then they totally ripped me off because I wasn't from Dallas. They specifically asked me, which I thought was casual conversation, and then they charged me almost $20 more than what I saw them charge someone local. I absolutely don't suggest this place. The only decent thing was the fact that they serve wine. Then when I got home I realized that a few of my toes were darker in color than the others, so I guess I was wrong about her being a perfectionist, and she just pretended. I just moved to Dallas and thought i'd give this place a try since it's only a few blocks from my apartment. The first time i went there to get my nails done they were really nice but one of my nails was put on crooked and my pinky nail was significantly shorter then the one on the other hand. It was nothing immediately noticeable and i didn't notice until i was home and really checked them out. Since it was nothing too bad, I figured I'd give them another try since I didn't really know any other places. My tech's name was Aaron and he was GREAT. Very nice, and when I explained to him my experience the first time he was very apologetic, asked me which tech it was, and made sure (and had me check as well) that my nails were all the same length and put on straight. My friend and I came here for pedicure and was very diappointed. The woman at the front asked if I want to get one of those expensive pedi and I said,"" I just need a basic one."" My friend on the other hand agreed to get a deluxe. The whole time they were giving us pedicure, the techs were speaking in different language; I am sure it was about me not wanting to pay the extra for the big pedi. My polish was very sloppy, so I asked the woman to fix it. She totally ignored me! My friend ended up with greasy legs. 9 appointments....3 techs! all mani/pedi-that is 18 services....how do you think 3 techs (w/o licenses posted anywhere) could accomodate us??? My friend got her skin shaved off and bleed on her pedicure. I ended up getting the same tech and got cut as well. The nail tech made my friend bleed 3 times during the manicure. We had to stop the service in the middle and QUIT, and so the rest of us tried to ""fix"" her nails. They were awful! Acrylic nails 7 off and 3 on!! What a nightmare! We asked for the manager, complained to her! Another tech said, she wasnt the manager! What the heck kind of business are you running? I really can't review this place because I didn't even have a chance to try their service. But let me tell you my experience - I had a nail appt. today (Friday) at 1215p. When I went in, there were kids running everywhere and the place was pretty crowded. It is definitely NOT a relaxing atmosphere, which I thought from the website it would be. But regardless, I had an appt. for a manicure, checked in with the desk, and waited for at least 10 minutes. I finally ended up leaving after the person at the desk told me they were running behind. I used to work in Downtown Dallas and everyone at my job told me about this Salon on Elm but I didn't make the point to come until they bought me a giftcertificate for a Pedicure and Facial for my birthday. This place is so pretty I love my pedicure and the facial was so good. I would definitely recommended this place to everyone. I get pedicures every two weeks whether I need one our not! While they give excellent pedicures, their service was horrible. When I came in to the salon with an appointment, they seemed annoyed that I was even there. They were annoyed at me when I asked to upgrade my pedicure, which has never happened to me before. Then, when my toe nails were drying, I asked about their chair massage -- since they had a sign posted -- and they told me that I couldn't expect them to have someone available.
