I went to Pampered Soles for the first time this week with a girlfriend. We had heard very good things about Pampered Soles and when we tried to make an appointment we had to wait a few days to get in, so we both figured it must be wonderful. My girlfriend and I both got the Lavender Pedicure ($45) which was lovely. I have nothing negative to say about the pedicure itself. My reason for it only being 2-stars is probably just my personal preference, but there were so many things I thought were wrong/didn't like. First of all, its a hole in the wall, it is not appealing to the eye at all. When we walked in we asked to use the restroom. It was not clean. They use regular black recliners & then have a bucket for the water so it's more sanitary, which I get. My preference is the spa bath however. My girlfriend and I kind of felt awkward, no one was talking. The guy that did my pedicure, which I assume was the owner? Maybe manager? Wasn't too friendly, but my girlfriend had a nice girl that was friendly and asked "Are we allowed to talk?" (half sarcastically, half serious) the girl was very friendly and said oh yes! So we just whispered the entire time. The guy explained that it was the culture of the salon and they whisper to their other employees and only speak English, which I respect.I was a little taken back that they didn't serve wine or offer drinks, as most nail salons do. A few minutes later, we saw a lady receive a glass of wine so my friend asked if they had wine. She said you can bring your own wine. Um? That is kind of cheap. I think it's great they let people bring in their own wine, but I feel like they should also have it to serve. I was also surprised they didn't tell us that on the phone, because they knew we were new customers. They use a computer system to log their clients and the colors they get. Which leads me to my next complaint:The manager/owner that did my toes was answering the phone & on the laptop 1/2 of the service! He would answer the phone, take an appointment, put it in the computer, then go back to the service. Then a co-worker would come up & give him the color their client used to put it in the computer, so he would stop & put it in. First of all, if you want the place to be quiet, have a receptionist to take the calls so you can pay attention to your paying customers, and maybe place them in the back so the phone doesn't ring! The whole being on the computer 1/2 of the time really set me off. I have never felt like I wanted to WALK OUT of a pedicure.Another thing I found EXTREMELY interesting is they charge $2 more for "couture" polish, which they considered to be Chanel, Butter, & Nars..I understand that, it's a more expensive polish, but they also had "ESSIE" listed under the couture polish. I'm sorry, but I don't think anything is that couture that I can buy at Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart. Essie is $8.50 a bottle, give me a break. They only accept cash & checks, which is fine, I guess.Regardless, I won't be going back. Read Less
