I can not begin to put into words what magic Sol brought back into my hair. After what the inexperienced recent hair dressers had done to my hair at a salon I will not name, my hair was so dry, damaged and had no life. I knew I had to do something. After doing my research online, I saw Planet Sol Salon had the most positive reviews. I called last minute after work to see if I could get a color consultation with a haircut. I was very impressed with the phone call etiquette and professionalism of the appointment process. I was greeted with the  utmost respect and Sol made me feel so positive about what we could do to save my hair. I showed her my picture ideas of a long bob and she made that happen. We discussed treatment options and I will have to say, she's very very knowledgeable and licensed and may I also say accredited?!? She knows so much about her field and has had so much training you can feel the sincerity  in her work and see the pride at Planet Sol Salon. She never not once made me feel that what has happened to my hair was ever a bad idea or my fault nor did she make any negative comments unlike in past experience from other hairdressers. To me this is so important because I'm there because I want to move forward, I wanted a new look and healthy hair is what I walked in for. After having a good consultation with the girl who was chosen to do my hair, I could not have been more disappointed and upset about my experience at Planet Sol.  My appointment with C.J was originally scheduled for a few days after my consultation but she called me 5 minutes before my scheduled appt.  to cancel due to her not feeling well.  I rescheduled for two weeks later and showed up on time at 3.  She was going to do an all over color, highlights and a cute long bob which we agreed to all of these things after she showed me a picture.  I must also add that I have always had heavy blond highlights but I was experiencing a lot of brassiness and redness and that I did not like gold tones in my hair.  At my appt she did a few highlights in the front and an all over dark brown, the highlights turned out gold,  she did a ten minute conditioning treatment which made no difference in my hair and gave me a trim that took under 5 minutes.  My hair looks worse than it did when I went in their and I was then told that my stylist had only 2 yrs experience.  I was then charged 270 dollars for what I still don't know and c.j then tried to sell me overpriced products.  I was so upset and am still upset that I spent that kind of money and did not even look good the day after my appt.  I know that being blond takes a lot of maintenance but I expected atleast a couple of weeks of liking my hair.  I sent the owner an email and called her with no response, so I felt that all I could do was warn others of this lack of concern for customers satisfaction and experience at the owners salon.  I guess I will try to move on and find a real hair dresser.  My only question still remains, how they could charge me 270 for the minimal amount of work she did on my hair and the obvious inexperience this "expert" colorist " of two years has.  What a disappointing experience. I am one of those girls that fears going to the hair salon due to so many previous traumatizing experiences, but after reading the reviews on Yelp I decided it would be safe to give Planet Sol a try.  I was due for a trim and to brighten up my highlights.  I made an appointment on line.  Was contacted the next day and confirmed my appointment with Victoria.  I was anxious but excited.  I was sent a confirmation text the day before (I appreciate those) and I confirmed.I showed up a few minutes before my appointment time and was informed I would be preserving the condition of my shirt and donning one of their smocks...I can appreciate that, soon after that I met Victoria and we briefly went over my expectations and consultation.  Soon after, the transformation began...4 hours later...(to be expected considering I got Balayage, toning, shampoo, cut, blow dry and style...products bought), my makeover was complete!  Victoria did a fantastic job, my husband and I are very pleased.  Everyone at Planet Sol was polite and professional and prices reasonable.  I would confidently recommend this salon to anyone seeking a simple cut and style to something a little more complex.  They have competency and class at Planet Sol, thanks ladies! I'm new to the area, and I had a job interview so I put a lot of time into finding a professional and affordable place to get my hair cut. I got Sea-Jay as my stylist and she was honestly amazing! I came in just wanting a trim, but told her I'd be open to styling my hair if she had any ideas. She took an inch off so it's about shoulder length, and gave me long layers in the back that are super cute! She asked if she could do a face frame once she was done with the back, so I said sure and now I'm obsessed with my hair. I get really nervous going into hair salons because I never know exactly what I want, and she was extremely helpful and respectful and sweet. It was also a reasonable cost! I was searching for a salon to cut my hair short and a friend recommended this place. The staff was so friendly, and my hairdresser (Sea Jay) sat down and asked me what I was wanting for my hair. She asked for me to show her pictures and asked questions to clarify that she understood what I wanted. I had never had that happen before- so great! I'm the type of girl who doesn't do anything with her hair. I have always had long hair with no layers and very heavy side bangs. Finally, I got tired of that and wanted to switch it up - but not by much. I decided to cut my hair in a V shape instead of straight across. Not impressed with this place. They give you discounts for leave good reviews online (which is probably why they have so many). I'm new in town and came in for a haircut. I just needed my hair trimmed to a shorter length - nothing crazy, but I came prepared with pictures and a specific length in mind. The girl spent forever cutting, but when I left ($60 later), my hair was the exact same as it was before I came in. Every suggestion I made or question I asked was quickly dismissed in a way that made me feel a little stupid for asking. Every time I gently reminded her of the length I was looking for (just above my collar for work), she insisted she was doing what I asked. Ultimately, I had to spend another $50 somewhere else to actually have it cut. Pros: They did get me in quickly (same day), the place was clean despite strange appearance from the outside, and staff was nice. First visit here today.  I called at 9 and was able to get a 1030 appt.  Kenya was wonderful and did a wonderful job.  In addition to an awesome cut and style, I got my hair washed and conditioned, a scalp, neck/shoulder and hand massage.  They were running a special so i even got my cut free! Salon was nice, I got a color touch up on my roots and hair toned. Looked fine inside the salon but in a different light my blonde was very orange and the touch up didn't get all the way to the roots I was pretty upset about that. I asked for a V hair cut and it looked V only because it was curled when i left when straightened it was not how I wanted. Not exactly happy about pay over 200 dollars for this service and especially not happy about the color of my roots compared to the rest of my hair color. Will not be returning when I'm back in town. This was my first time here ever and came in for a cut. I was welcomed by reception and she knew who I was. They offered me a drink and guided me to the waiting area. Victoria came introduced herself then lead me to her station. She listened and provided me with professional opinion. The washing of my hair was amazing; she gave me a mini head massage. The cut and style came out great. I was assured that if, in a few days living with hair cut, I was unsatisfied with the cut to come back in so she can adjust. (I haven't been told that by a stylist before). Everyone was super nice so I feel bad about writing this, but I feel like I should say it. I went in to this salon with a picture with what I wanted so I was semi prepared. I showed the hairdresser the picture and she had to ask for advice from the other girls which I appreciate. I wanted a frosty platinum color. My hair was already pretty blonde so they said it would be easy. So the next thing I know, she was dyeing my roots a dark brown and processed it then toned the already yellow blonde hair for a couple seconds. When I got back to the chair she had me turned away from the mirror the entire time she dried my hair. I knew something was up at that point. By the end, my blonde hair looked exactly the same coming in and the roots were longer and darker. So sad to have these results. :( Read Less

I'm only in Corpus Christi for a few days, this place is not on the beaten path, and, frankly, from the outside this does not look like a place I would normally frequent. Corbin greeted me enthusiastically and offered a beverage and Melissa took her time listening to what I wanted and looking at the pictures I provided. Salon is disorganized and not high end as advertised. Had made apt for facial and cut. I arrived 5 minutes prior to my apt and after reminding them twice that I was they took me 30 late for my facial and proceeded to give me a 20 min facial, no steam or extractions and ver little actual facial massage. It was a joke of a facial. I was told that I didn't get the full facial because I didn't need it. Irrelevant as I paid for it, $53 for a 20 min facial. I had a cut apt with Melissa afterwards but she was too busy and they switched me to a less experienced stylist without any explanation. She proceeded to butcher my hair. The owner came over and tried to fix but razored a chunk out of my bangs. They did not charge me for the cut. The experience was a waste of time and money. I have an important meeting in a week and a half and am hoping it grows out enough that I can have the cut corrected by a professional stylist. Read Less

I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and overall quality of work done at Planet Sol. I usually go to a barber shop but my normal barber shop closed early so I went to Planet Sol because I was in desperate need of a haircut. I was warmly greeted by the receptionist, Adriana. She promptly escorted me to a chair. She then offered me a beverage. My stylist, Melissa welcomed me and asked me how I normally get my haircut. She then made some suggestions and proceeded to cut my hair. I realize that men's haircuts are not their specialty at Planet Sol but in my opinion, she did a phenomenal job (I'm a pretty phenomenal client, but that's besides the point). I was then given the most amazing shampooing of my life. I was so relaxed that I think I fell asleep for a brief period of time. After she was done my hair looked great. Her eye for detail and recommendations resulted in a great haircut. Expecting to have to pay top dollar I was surprised at how reasonable the price was. I had a great experience at Planet Sol recently! I had a mishap with box color trying to make my hair blonde. That was a complete disaster! I sported a ball cap until my appointment and I'm amazed with how they were able to fix it and my stylist sounded very knowledgable. I had to go back a little darker but she added hi lights since I really wanted to be blonde and I couldn't have asked for a better color! If I could put zero stars I would! Had an appt. at 11am.. The receptionist called me at 1145,as I was walking out the door, to reschedule for 12. This should have been my first sign...As a gift, I received a Be Our Guest from the a KRIS site for planet sol, it was for $150. There wasn't a hair cut included so I asked if I could add it. They said sure, and they would even take 25% off the hair cut cost for adding it in and it would be $10 and some change.. Cool, sounded great! So I get in the chair (of the stylist who doesn't even introduce herself) and asked for a full color of a little bit darker brown than I had at the time and a trim off my layers. I ended up with an redish/purplish color. Hated it. She said she would put a toner on it to take the red out. In the midst of all this, another stylist is coloring a coworkers hair and being totally inappropriate and unprofessional. It was loud and obnoxious. I sat in that chair for THREE hours and my stylist asked me three different times how I wanted my hair cut. It was like she was in a different world.. Not paying attention at all! I go to pay and my total was $90, on top of the $150 certificate I had brought in. She told me the haircut went up because "the math was off" but she "gave me the toner for free." Looking at me like she didn't understand why I was upset.I'm thinking to myself "yeah the toner is gonna be free! You gave me purple hair!"It was one of those moments that I was just so mad I had no words and didn't want to make a scene..I just paid it! Whatever! I got home and took a good look in the mirror at what she had just done.. I had dye all over my forehead, neck, and all the way down to mid shoulder blade! Apparently the frocks do no good with this lady.The front of my hair framing my face is near black and the hair on the back of my head is brown. I would think twice if considering this place!! And her name was Nancy, by the way. I only know because of the other stylist calling for her.I use to go to Planet Sol on a regular basis when I was at the other location.
