So, I am pretty skilled about styling my own mane; lots and lots of hair that are naturally coarse and prone to frizz. And that can give  some professionals too big of a challenge if they are not familiar with textured hair... I am recovering from a rotator cuff injury and can't lift my arm. Enter Jessica to center stage! Had read some good reviews about her work and decided to try her today. Wow!! Loved the experience and the results!She is a very pleasant, polite, calm young lady, ( with gorgeous skin, btw), and very talented in her craft. She listened to my inputs with attentive and positive demeanor and applied them in her work.I got very silky, smooth and shiny beach curls (pillow talk option) after she went to work with a round brush to dry and smooth my tresses and then used a flat iron to give me the curls definition. I am her newest client!Plus, Blo Bar @ the Galleria has nice ambience, cheerful and friendly receptionist and their products are of good quality. I am a die hard fan of Kerastasse, (because I need all nourishment and hydration I can get) but today, my hair feels very soft after having used their line of products. I was always one to scoff at women who get their hair blown out for nothing special. Why pay an exorbitant amount of money for something you can easy do yourself, at home, in 20-30 minutes--- I thought. But I'm a big enough person to admit my mistakes to the Yelp world. Going to Blo has been almost life changing, not like in the literal sense, but certainly in the tresses sense. My hair has never looked better, I can get an actual style with curls, or  waves, or straight (as opposed to my current home standard of straight-ish...) for $45, which works out to a $1 a minute. Most importantly, the style fromblo lasts-- it lasts so long I kind of find myself staring intently at my hair wondering what's wrong with it, why aren't you a dirty, knitted mess yet at day 2 and day 3 (and I'm shamed to admit Day 4 because now I'm like screw blowing out my own hair!!). To add to the wonder, they must sculpt with unicorn dust and rainbows because despite getting CURLS in my hair which has never seen a curl it likes, the hair isn't stiff with gels and sprays and mousses (oh my!); but instead is soft, silky and shiny (Ohhhhhh Myyyyyy). It bounces when I walk with that little extra pep in the step because my locks are on point. Blo has a monthly membership for $70/75 where you get 2 blowouts per month and discounted BOs afterwards ($35 each).  This is limited to your home location though. For those of us who want more flexibility on location, they also have a Blo Tab where you buy 7 BOs and get 8, which works out to ~$39 per service for flexibility. They also have a yearly special sale, which is coming up in a few weeks, where you buy 6 and get 8, which basically makes it cheaper for someone else to do my own hair-- that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So don't ditch your stylist, because Blo only does blowouts and hair treatments (and makeup), but do ditch the cluttered side of your sink and let someone else do it. Read Less

I needed a hair stylist for my best friend who was getting married and Blo Blow Dry Bar was amazing! I am from San Diego and they were so helpful in assisting me book and coordinate on site services for the bride the day of the ceremony. I booked a consult to do a trial run beforehand and I was a little dissapointed the morning of the wedding that they did not send the same girl who did the trial (which they promised to do when I booked it) BUT it turned out not to be a problem because they sent us Natalie who was amazing! Natalie was early to set up, professional, accommodating, and calm (the bride actually had a panic attack while her hair was getting done!). Today was my first visit. I previously read all reviews before making my appointment. Regardless of some negative comments I chose the positive and ask for Jessica and she was awesome. I will absolutely return to Blo. Everyone that I had contact with was very friendly. I felt welcomed immediately and atmosphere was great. I have been to Blo before and loved it but I will never return to this location. The lady I had seemed to be the one that was in charge did my hair  and she was very unpleasant. She was rude to her coworkers and acted like she had no time for me. She rushed trough my hair and did not let me choose the style. I was very unhappy with my hair and she did not seem to care. A lot of girls in there including me were there for prom so it was suppose to be a special and fun time. She did not make my time fun or special. I love this place!! As a vocalist and a stay at home mom, my time is limited as most of us, and here at blo, they value my time and are extremely talented!! I have hair extensions which are not the easiest to care for and yet my sweet Jessica makes my hair look seamless with such ease and perfection. I came to Blo in Bee Cave with my mom and some friends before going to a wedding. Jessica & Diandra were so cute and professional and quick and made my mom and my hair look and feel sooooo beautiful. I usually never get my hair done because no one ever does it right, but Jessica did my hair perfectly, wavey hair and a slight messy low ponytail-- I was so happy with the outcome. 5 stars for sweetness for the girl who did my hair, and 5 for cuteness of the salon, but 0 stars for the actual blow out, style, and products used to make it "humidity proof".  I was sooooo excited to get a blow out, because my friend RAVED about hers!  I chose the "hollywood curls" style, expecting big loose curls a la Marilyn Monroe-esque vintage/big curls.  I ended up with Shirley Temple curls and I wanted to cry.  The sweet stylist put some cream/oil in them to help them tame down some, but it looked horrible still.  She sprayed the anti humidity spray on it and promised it would keep it from going completely flat in the rain/humidity.  This is where the 0 stars come in.  The wedding was a short drive from where Blo was located.  Within two hours, when the reception started, I went to the bathroom and my hair was straight. There was no in between of loose curls.  It went from Shirley Temple tiny/tight curls to straight and oily looking.  I had hoped the blow out would last a few days like they said, but it definitely didn't.  Maybe it was just my hair, but I doubt I'd try Blo again at any location, if their products don't hold at all.  :( Read Less

I went to Blo before a friends wedding for some beachy waves. I ended up with a ringlet, Shirley Temple-esque do. I thought oh well, just $40, I'll brush it out a bit when I get home. Little did I know that almost a week later, my hair would still show signs of the ringlets. The hair dresser burned my hair SO BADLY that the front pieces are kinked, even after 4 washes and a Kerastase treatment. The ends are singed beyond recognition. I have no idea how to fix my hair short of shaving it all off. Not recommended if you like your hair at all. Read Less

Ladies!LADIES!Blo is fabulous.  I mean this.  With all my heart and every hair on my sexy ass hair do head!Here's the thing:Ya gotta go on Monday or Tuesday.  Here's why:1. Cost of a fabulous shampoo, conditioner, blow dry and oh so sexy 'do is cut down from $40 to  $30 from 9-5pm.2. This leaves room on the budget to get a scalp massage.  "Why, Shani," you ask, "would a scalp massage matter?"Oh.  Honey.Not only is it a great scalp massage, it's a 10 minute escape to stress free heaven.  The way they work their fingers through your hair has all that tension fluttering away like angry birds looking for another place to nest - cause it won't be you!3. The salon is also not as busy.  Candace took care of me.  She is just a gem!  Great personality and fun to chat with.  She and I talked about everything from her love for N Sync to men who wander in and make jokes about "getting a blow". (some men will never escape the nerdy teenager that thinks sex jokes are giggly)Everyone in the salon was so sweet and smiles all around.  This is quite a trek for me from Central East Austin, but I can certainly see myself doing it just to return to Candace and her band of lovely blo dry peeps. WoW! How come I've never been to this place?? I am so at a loss of what to do with my hair. I have a lot of it, and its stubborn. Enter Blow. You walk in and they have a book for you to pick out your style. I had a nice long shampoo (who doesn't love this part??!) then over to the chair. My lady listened to how I wanted my hair to look. She put curls in my hair for a wedding I was going to later AND THEY STAYED IN ALL NIGHT! I think the only time my hair every kept a style other then straight was prom, and that took about 5 cans of aqua net. I was the girl in basic training always getting yelled at for my hair falling down. But someone she made my hair tamable, without making it sticky.If you have a special date, or just want to feel pretty, give blow a try. You won't be disappointed! Read Less

Conveniently located in the Hill Country Galleria in the strip behind Whole Foods and next t the radio station (you might miss it once). Most people are probably familiar with Blo salons and their concept (they are EVERYWHERE!; including Canada and the UK), so I won't provide a detailed blow by blow (snarkle)...here's the LD:No color, no cuts, wash and blowouts only. It's the staff specialty and they know what they're doing. Also, the fee is one flat rate - $40 - for any length/thickness of hair - and services are always pretty consistent. In my experience an average blowout ranges from $25-40; however, Blo does more than dry and run an iron through your hair. They have 7 fun "styles" to choose from (e.g., "Pillow Talk" [beachy waves], "High Society" [updos], "Go Fish" [very fun fish-tail braid])...something to suit everyone and for every occasion. My favorite is the kind of standard "Executive Sweet" - I love how they are able to get my wavy, frizzy, hair stick straight and it lasts for days!The stylists and other staff are all very friendly and helpful, which is icing. Gotta go to Blo!
