As a former investigator, I have been in just about every nail salon east of Austin in Texas. I've seen good and bad in all of them. Secondly, as a licensed cosmetologist, I know what is included in a manicure. As a paying customer, I feel I should get a full manicure when I pay for it. I did not get that here...First of all, while I waited I observed the environment. Imagine a sweat shop where women are all sitting around doing their job or waiting for their next client, with a man walking around yelling in Vietnamese things we can't understand. Just not very pleasant.As I sat down for my manicure, I told the girl I didn't want polish. She proceeded to do what I guess she thought was a manicure, however she looked out the window almost the entire time instead of at my nails. She did not push one cuticle back, but pushed "at" them instead. She filed the ends of my nails, leaving them rough, then buffed them briefly. It was a joke. She got up and left when she was done and I was sitting and waiting, thinking there was something else she was going to possibly do to finish this job. But no, she never returned. I went to the receptionist who spoke English and said, "Does it look like I just got a manicure? No? It should." I said I was not paying $12 for that joke, especially since I didn't get polish. Then they called the girl up who said she charged me $2 extra for buffing them! Are you kidding me? Well, he finally took that off, but if I could have walked out, I would have. They didn't offer to fix them or re-do them or anything. I ended up paying $10 for someone touching my hands for a brief period of time while peering out the window, possibly dreaming of a better life... Read Less
