Melinda has been great! I started seeing her a couple of months ago for mani/pedi's and feel as if I've stumbed upon a total gem. She's very detailed and conscientous with her work and the complete opposite of what you experience in a run-of-the mill chain nail place. When you call Bloomingnails, Michelle, the owner of Bloomingnails answers the call, Michelle is a super friendly woman - I've never actually had a mani/pedi done by Michelle, when I called to schedule an appointment the first time at Bloomingnails, Michelle was bookedy, so I was referred to Melinda, her partner, who also works at Bloomingnails, and what a great experience! I've always flipped-flopped back and forth between doing my own finger/toe nails, and having them done at a fast paced placed where it's difficult to communicate. Since meeting Melinda, I'm hooked, her mani/pedi's are the best I've ever had, and her polite, good-natured demeanor tops it all off. I absolutely LOVE Bloomingnails! It's the perfect setting, very relaxing and calm. I get my nails done by Michele and from day one they have looked amazing. This place is a hidden gem. It is located on west lynn near the corner of 5th street. Michele, the owner, is a fantastic manicurist and knows all the latest trends in nail colors. She also does gel nails, which I think are the best. I hate the cheap places because I've had too many friends get infections and the smell is so toxic. Bloomingnails is super clean and smells great. I love this studio for several reasons. The decor is light and airy and the design is comfortable. You never feel like you're in one of those strip mall locations that smell horrible. Parking's never an issue either, which is nice. You just feel welcomed, it's clean and it smells good. Okay now for the #1 reason I love it. Michele is awesome! I went to her in December for a pedicure before I left for a beach wedding. Where as the bride's pedicure only lasted in the sand and saltwater for one day, mine lasted through the entire trip and even longer. That's right, 3 weeks and not one chipped toenail! This salon is not sanitary. I got a nail fungus after getting spa pedicure here. They reuse the same bucket over and over w/o properly washing it out. The quarters are also too cramped to be comfortable when two customers are there at once. Read Less

I did the whole acrylic thing and almost ruined my nails. Plus, now that I look back on it they look really fake. The gel nails that Michele offers are a far superior product. They feel and look very natural, don't peel or chip, and are somewhat flexible so you don't break nails as often if ever. There are a variety of colors and styles to choose from and the prices are comparable to acrylic nails. How often you go is going to depend on how fast your nails grow. I'd usually go 1-2 times per month. Michele is really great about scheduling and responds quickly to emailing which is good for a working gal like myself. I went in wanting some pampering and I got it! Michelle is wonderful, very warm and inviiting. I have been looking for not just a 'good' place to get my mani/pedi's--but a 'great' place and I believe I have found it! Both my hands and my feet are soft, glowing and polished--and its four days later! I know there are a lot of little nail 'joints' up at the strip malls around town, and I am sure they are okay and cheaper. But I am a big believer in getting what you paid for, and I believe that Michelle gave me my monies worth! I have been going to Michele for about three months now, and I have to say, my nails have never looked better or been healthier. The gel that she uses (Bio Sculpture Gel) is amazing! It's flexible, so even when I catch my nails on something, they don't break off, and it has a firm grip on the nail bed, so they don't lift and fall off! It comes in over 100 colors, so you can get the right look for you and not have to worry about polish chipping. It cures almost instantly so you don't have to worry about marking up your nails after you leave from your appointment. I cannot say enough good things about it! I researched Austin and the surrounding areas for manicurists using gel products (because they are so much better for your nails than acrylic) and Michele has the best prices around.
