As a man, I used to think that barber shops for men were the only place to go for haircuts. However, I have been going to the Banana Bush for several years now and have always received prompt, friendly professional service. The atmosphere is quite cozy. There are always stylists available for your hair needs as well as pedicures and manicures. I would recommend Bobbie Ross or Jessica Papay but really anyone whom you may get will treat you right and do a great job. Prices vary by stylist but you're getting certified cosmotologist work also! I always enjoy the time I spend With Jennifer Littlejohn. She brings laughter in my life! I have been going to her for 4-5 years. Her pedicures are the best..no do this..pay exta for this..her pricing is straight forward. She is very careful to get my nails shaped just right to using warm/rocks on my legs and feet. She then does a perfect French tip on my toes (and she doesn't charge extra). Then she starts to work on my hands...shaping..cuticle trim..French tip with gel/shellac..followed with lotion. I'm the type of person who is very reserved and cautious about where they get their hair done. Honestly, I would have just waited to go back to CA to try to find a place to get my hair done but I needed one badly. When you arrive, do not be alarmed. It truly is a semi dark, old looking, mini mall of booth salons. There have to be at least 20 different private beauticians inside. Each door is a different persons own salon. They have their own prices, times, and specialties. I got my hair cut and colored by Heidi (Shear Magic at door 7). She was absolutely amazing!! She took the time to help me choose the right color, put her input on what she thought would look pretty without overstepping her boundaries, and took the time to make sure that I really liked the way the final look turned out. She's kind, funny, and knowledgable about the products and techniques. Pricing was pretty reasonable and cheap too! I definitely recommend her to anyone who stops by. Read Less

I am always skeptical of going to new hair salons, so much so thst I often avoid getting a cut. I have difficult hair and I never like what stylists do to it. But I was in town visiting and desperately needed a haircut. I saw Lisa at Banana Bush and I am SO happy with her work! We talked about what I wanted and I showed her a picture. She gave me almost the exact cut as in the picture! She was also very friendly and nice to talk to. Next time I'm in town, I will be visiting Lisa again! I can't recommend her enough! I had tried to get a graduated bob (like Posh) awhile back from a different salon, and was utterly disappointed. The layers were very long, it didn't lay right, and the only reason I looked good coming out of the salon was because of so much styling and product. So I let it grow out and tried to find a new salon. My friend referred me to Tiffany Potts at Banana Bush, and I knew I had to try her. My friend is always doing funky cool stuff to her hair, so I knew she could be eclectic in her styling and knew what she was doing. I got EXACTLY what I asked for! It looks just like the picture I showed her, and she made sure to notice not only the style I wanted, but also the details. The sleek lines, and smooth bottom. Yay for this place! For the longest time I didn't trust anyone but my closest, most talented friends to give me a haircut... one too many mom-cuts with a chili bowl, yaknowwhatimean? I finally loosened up a bit when I lived in California, to admittedly mixed results. But you can't always have a hairdresser friend in the same area code, so I soldiered onward!And ultimately, it led me here. There seem to be a ton of stylists working here. You walk down the aisle past all the open doors, and you pretty much see nothing but ladies with effin' rad hair. I stick to one stylist (no names in the interest of utter selfishness!), but I've never heard a bad thing about a single one of the stylists here. I can't say a lot about the tanning or manicures, but these people know how to give good cuts and color. My stylist in particular is helpful and open to suggestions... not the type to experiment on you without your permission, so it's easy to feel like you're in good hands. This place is so good that even when I moved away for a while, I scheduled appointments to correspond with vacations back home! The only thing holding me back from that fifth star is that I haven't actually experienced work by any of the other stylists, so I don't want to (possibly) lead someone astray with a full endorsement.
