I had a great experience here! Was a little nervous, as I showed up 10 minutes before closing and thought they might rush me. Quite the opposite. A gentleman did my nails, he recommended the shellac polish, and it turned out beautifully! I've never been happier with my nails. A week later, and I still can't stop looking at them! The elderly lady that did was nails was RUDE and VERY rough with me. First of all I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant! Second she was being rough with my nails that she cut my nail and burned the side of my nail from being rough with the drill on my nails. Searching for a regular spot to have my nails done regularly.  Went in to get a fill after trying California nails, but the guy said it was better to remove my set and start over.  Now I always have my nails done so I know that what I had was still fine, but since moving to Abilene in September I've learned that the salons here are different than the ones back home in Hawaii.   I always get boogie nights and the way they do it here- putting the acrylic powder then using that little tool to SCRAPE the tip off to add the color powder, isn't an approach that I've seen used in probably five/six years.   But, I digress.  My tips came out way too pink, but with the language barrier the guy didn't seem (or pretended to) not understand what I was saying.  I had already been at the shop for almost two and a half hours and was going to be late meeting my husband at the gym so I just let it go and kept the color.  The nails are ok.  Didn't break or anything.  But with the workers being so hard to communicate with and how frustrated/abrupt the tech working on me seemed to get I doubt this will become my go to place. Unprofessional, slow, overall just..unimpressed. A friend and I went in to get manicures and when I was seated to get my shellac soaked off, I had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone started to work on my nails. Once they began, a total of 3 people were soaking off my shellac. Then I was asked to move seats twice. A woman there before me was unhappy with her nails so when she left the gentleman helping her threw a fit in the middle of the salon causing myself and everyone there to be uncomfortable. My friend got seated about 15 minutes into my services but never got worked on. I left with subpar shellac and my friend left with NO WORK WHATSOEVER. Read Less

Just received a full set and I made sure to call ahead ask how much it would be man who answered told me 20. So I go in for full nail single color nothing big had originally asked for a design on my ring fingers. Came out HORRIBLE. asked man doing my nails to remove it so naturally you'd think my price would be down at 20 bucks again. This was my first visit to City Nails. And I was underwhelmed. First, the man welcoming us in was hacking and coughing like crazy. Second, they were a bit rough with my 6 year olds feet. Next, the guy doing my pedicure scrubbed and scrubbed (which I don't always hate) but he ended up scrubbing up behind my ankle. It has left a scratch. When he went to paint my toes, he said the color I picked wasn't a good consistency any more and went to get another one. I asked for the same kind of color (teal) but came back with a pink. The girl working had to help him find another teal. Anyway, my daughter said she loves it - but really she loved the chair she sat in and the fact that her nails are pretty now. Never again! This was my first pedicure experience in Abilene, and I didn't even finish. I sat down, the man took my polish off, and cut my toe open on the second toenail he cut. Then, he and another worked proceeded to touch the cut with their bare hands. That ended my pedicure. Read Less

This place doesnt even earn 1 star my nails were smudged polish on the sides of fingers and toes dirty had their baby in there and had to leave customers sitting while tending to child finally took to sitter and left customers waiting my water got cold i was not pleased at all then wanted me to waite more to fix but was not waiting any more it sucked all together Read Less

This is a nice place. .great prices. I had the most wonderful pedicure done by Lee. I also had my nails done by Tom they came out nice but he was a bit ruff. I had cuts on two fingers do to over filing. Now it could also partly be my fault I did mess with them before I went in. Very nice staff,friendly.Read Less

I'm in love with this place!!!! I will not go to any other nail salon. I've tried them all and this one by far is my favorite. They take their time on anything and everything they do, and they always do a great job. I have been going here for a while and I have never been disappointed by their services. I went here because I thought it was where my mother in law had recommended but it wasn't. I go in and there are 5 women having things done but only 2 workers!  I had to wait about 10 Mounties which was okay but when I told her what I needed done it was like I was bothering her. I didn't get done what I needed after iBooks her exactly what I wanted. It was very expensive! At one point another girl came in and asked for a design and the woman doing my nails was talking very hostile in a foreign language to the other worker for like 10 minutes!!!! Read Less

This place is barely getting two stars from me. I called an hour ahead and made an appointment because it was a Friday afternoon, but when I got in ten minutes before the set time I was told to wait in a chair. There were three employees total, and about four or five women in different stages of having their nails or toes done. For a Friday afternoon I was shocked that I never saw another employee come out, a few women showed up after me and only waited a few minutes before leaving because they didn't have time to wait. I guess this place would rather lose customers than get a few more people working for them.I looked around for the nail polish selection and finally found it, on a short little counter, there were three TINY racks that spun and I'm not exaggerating when I say most of the bottles were near empty, half of them were covered in old dried polish,  and a lot of the colors were just plain ugly, like something a ten year old would be excited about, (ugly bright green, sparkly fluorescent oranges, etc.) I finally found two sandy beige colors and went to swatch them on two of my own nails to see how the color would look when dry. But I couldn't do this, because the caps were on so tight they would not budge!!! Finally I asked one of the women doing a pedicure if I could sit in a chair with my feet soaking in hot water if I was going to be kept waiting. She filled up the basin and I sat down. After about fifteen minutes one of the male employees was finished with a customer's nails and he came over to start my pedicure. I was thinking about getting the $32 spa pedicure but decided to test this place out and see what they offered for the regular at $20. I think you can find a lot of places will go above and beyond even with the cheap pedicures depending on where you go, this was not one of those salons...Everything was going fine and he did massage my legs with a lotion before starting on the paint job. I had my seat slid back so that my legs weren't cramped in their weird chair, I've never had this problem before and it was odd but I dealt with it. Until he took the remote for the chair and slid my seat up, my feet were still in the same position so I don't know why he did this, it wasn't making it harder for him if my legs were stretched out. So I slid it back to be more comfortable again. Then he did it AGAIN, sliding my seat forward!!! It was annoying and I sat like that for the rest of the time because I was done playing games. I showed him the two colors I wanted to try, and even HE couldn't get the caps off! He actually had to go in the back and get some kind of wrench tool to squeeze the cap while he twisted the bottle!!! He had to do this with both bottles and it took at least a minute for each of them. Once off I could smell they were mixed with acetone to prolong the use, these were OPI colors and I know how they are supposed to smell. So I was really getting pissed off because they are being super cheap with their polish collection. He painted in weird short dabs, not even strokes from the top down, I wasn't even caring at this point. Oh another thing I REALLY hated was most of the bottles of polish I looked at had their sticker pulled off of the bottom, so you couldn't even find out what the color was named! The sandy beige I picked out ended up being a beautiful color, but I won't ever be able to buy it because I don't know what the hell it's called. I went to this place based solely on the good reviews, I don't know if they were having an off day or what, but I can't recommend it. Try one of the other several nail salons in the next plaza over or the one in the Mall by Best Buy and the bookstore. Read Less

I have been getting my nails done here for almost 2 years. They have the best priced solar nails in town. They are friendly and speak to you not just each other. I dont always think they do the best pedicures but with that being said they are pretty decent for the price. I think that they do a great job and I will continue to use them (for my Nails) for years to come!!!!! Read Less

I don't live in Abilene, but was here for a work meeting w/ time to kill, and in desperate need of a pedicure!  I went to City Nails based off of Yelp reviews, and they're pretty right on.  The store was clean, but not fancy at all.  I got right in and there was only 1 other customer, but it was also the middle of the afternoon on a weekday.  The guy who did my pedicure did a good job, but his foot massage wasn't all that great.  More like, just trying to rub lotion in.I will say, if I lived here, this place would be in the running for my "regular" place. After walking out of another salon I moved on to this place.  The shop has all new chairs that are clean and have digital massage control.  They even have chairs for little girls that look like hot pink teddy bears!  There weren't any other customers in the house, but it was near closing time so this could be why.  The prices for all of the services are posted on a large board toward the front, and seemed very reasonable.  The pedicure I had was great, and the technician did a sugar rub, mud mask and massage.  I picked out a dark navy polish, and the technician offered to do a design of white polka dots on top of the navy.  It looks so good!! I hope it doesn't chip b/c I love it!  I didn't have a manicure done, but they have all of the new Shellac colors on display (not inferior stuff) and also OPI axxium colors.  Great place to treat yourself to some relaxation. I put my feet (and thus my pedicures) through a lot.   With the right technician here, my pedicures can last up a month!  I love the kids' pedi chairs -- my daughter and I have "girls days" which always involve a pedi and some Starbucks.  I recommend going on a weekday, when it's less crowded.
