Omgosh! Taylor was awesome! She definitely made me a happy lady. I came in asking to do long layers in my hair. Showed her a couple of pictures and it was like she took the 2 and combined them in 1. I was sooo happy with my cut and how she layered it. She thinned it out as well to not have it feel so thick. I have to say she was wonderful and an amazing hairstylist! Terrible! I paid well above $300 for a Brazilian blowout that did not last 2weeks. During the process, I even questioned was it a true one as the technique was so different from all the ones previously done elsewhere. I could immediately tell by the technique stylist Mai used to cut my hair that I would like the outcome. And I was right. I love it. There is a particular way to cut curly, thick hair like mine, so that it lays nicely as it grows. Cut poorly, it starts to look unkempt and unruly just a week or two later. Remarkably few stylists I've encountered over the years seem to grasp this. Mai at J Bangs does and I am glad to have met her. She is not only skilled, with a good eye for aesthetics, but also genuine and warm. We were talking like old friends within minutes. I've been going to Amanda at J Bangs for a year and a half now and I can't recommend her or this salon enough! I am notorious for always wanting to change up my hair color or cut at every appointment, and she always has a great idea, or brings my wild ideas back down to earth (because I can't always get that exact cut I see on Pinterest with my hair type). She has done balayage, long cuts, short cuts, deep purples underneath and the best blonde highlights I have ever had (I've stuck with the same color for at least three appointments now). I get compliments about my color all the time!The salon is very nice, casual, clean and comfortable. They also have a pedicure chair and manicurist. Ive lived in the middle Tn area most of my life so you can only imagine the coulntless number of salons I've visited in the Nashville area. So I went to J Bangs since I bought a groupon a while back and the service was amazing. My stylist Wayne, spent 3 hours coloring and cutting my hair and was never going back and forth working with another client. He even offered to run and get me food while we were waiting for the color to sit. I can't tell you how many compliments I've got on the new cut and color. Loved the atmosphere, the staff. Christmas cookies out, hot tea offered the time went by so fast! I'm used to sitting at these places for hours while they pack on the foils, then leave for an hour until you're ready to be rinsed. Don't be scared with Wayne. The day before I met Wayne I had gone to 2 different stylists who had managed to butcher my hair in two differnt directions. My hair was completely uneven and no longer showed any part of the beautiful cut my reguler stylist had sculpted. I decided to call J.Bangs Salon because they are a Paul Mitchell Salon. This salon is my FAVORITE salon in Nashville Period! From the moment you walk into the salon you will notice that the atmosphere is very inviting. It feels like you are in a neatly placed nest perched high above green hills. Lots of natural light and elements surround you during your experience. They have excellent taste in decor and music. Plus you have amazing seasoned professional stylists with positive attitudes that surround you. Also I love the fact that Julie the owner always takes the time to stop and say hello. After having my hair worked with for many many years the first thing I noticed was the head rest inside the rinsing bowls.
