From an employees standpoint , I think the staff and company presents their self friendly and clean , but in reality things are different. If you are young and African American I strongly urge you to reconsider applying for Gould’s Salon and Spa. I myself have attended a predominately Caucasian cosmetology school and have worked with various ethnicities. With that being said, I love all people , and I never like to pull the race card. But today I was terminated with no proper reason. When I visited David Gould , the owner of Gould’s Salon, he didn’t try to hear a word from me. I have pictures and evidence of Gould’s Poplar Plaza employees not following state board protocols. They receive 100 points on there state board visit but they have not thoroughly checked stylist station. I have pictures of the managers combs and station covered in old color build up and overlapping hairs from the coarse of hair services. That were reused on multiple clients. A review is not the time for me to tell you all stories of the many reasons you shouldn’t apply here but this is my review. I was excited for my first appointment however they cancelled 15 mins before it started and had me reschedule. When I showed up for my rescheduled date they said they couldn’t find my reservation in the books so they tried to reschedule for ANOTHER time. At this point I was ready i was aggravated and ready to find a new salon but they suggested I try someone new. I did and my hair looked good, even though she accidentally burned my ear and me being there felt more like a burden on this woman’s hands than a client. Not my lucky day. Read Less

I have had nothing but great customer service. Stacy is one of the best to give a wonderful massage. She did so well that I am not having near the trouble I have had with bursitis in my hips. Sharon gives an excellent mani and pedi and Lisa is a first rate stylist. She took my short short hair and transformed it into almost shoulder length. I have so many compliments on my hair. Came in to get my hair flat ironed and was told one price in the beginning but when I went to pay for the service I received, I was told a different price (without that being discussed previously). Also, she did well for the most part but I felt rushed at the end because she was trying to get to her next client. I have been extremely pleased with the service every time I have visited, regardless of the artist or treatment. I had a hair emergency and called to see if i could get in, Rodney squeezed me in and help me with my hair. I have never felt soo comfortable in a slon as i have this one. They make you feel like a part of their family. It sorta the feelling you would get from steel magnolia salon on the movie. The decor was great love the calm colors and the staff is soo friendly.
