I think debras is wonderful nail salon! I love the fact that it's American owned and communication is no problem! I can go relax and have a glass of wine while enjoying the company of the wonderful lady's that work there. My nails look amazing and I couldn't have been more happy with my service! Finally found an AMERICAN-owned salon!! After having my nails destroyed at a different salon, I took a chance and decided to visit another one. I'm SO glad I did!! Debra was so fun! I came here because I needed a quick pedicure, and it was across the street from where I had lunch that day. There was a coupon on Yelp, so I thought it would be worth the stop-in. Pedicure was good. Very nice and professional pedicurist made conversation with me and did a good job. However, it wasn't worth $38! There was no price list on the wall of the salon, but I didn't think to ask for a price beforehand. I've never paid more than $26. Once I tipped her, I had spent $44. That's too much for a pedicure, and if I had known the price beforehand, I would have gone somewhere else.Also, I tried using the Yelp coupon for 15% off. The shop owner said that coupon was "way out of date" and wasn't supposed to be on Yelp. She should have honored it anyway, but she didn't. I walked in on a Saturday and they sat me down to soak off the acrylics that I had on because I wanted the ANC dipping powder. Two ladies then started pedicures on other clients, I believe they had appointments so that's fine. I think I sat and stared at a wall for 30 minutes or more, no one engaged me in conversation until the girl was finished with the pedicure. They were friendly and somewhat welcoming, but the ANC cracked on my thumb TWO days after I had them done. So I went back and the owner fixed it free of charge. A few days later all of my nails started cracking and even my natural nail tips started breaking off and I ended up soaking what was left on my nails off on my own. All of my nails are extremely brittle now and some have even broken down to the skin raw. My nails have never ever done this before. I don't know if they didn't do them right or what but I know that my nails shouldn't be cracking and breaking every time I do something with my hands. At this point I'm not sure if I'll go back. If you want the short story: this place is amazing and heather is the goddess of nails If you want the long story: I have been getting my nails done for quite awhile now, been to many nail salons and have had many times where I've been satisfied and many times where I have not been.. With that being said this place is AMAZING, I have never been someplace with such great service and where they truly knew what they where doing and actually doing it right. Last time I got my nails done I went to this place in the mall where no one really knew English (which was awful because every time I said something hurt they just smiled and continued) and they most definitely did not know how to do nails.. They brushed the acrylic incredibly thin that I had cracks in my nails after 1 day, they were also so rough with me I could barely move my fingers, I'm a waitress and that night at work I was almost in tears because my nail beds hurt so much. And the only options they had for polish was very cheap drugstore polish, but I was in a hurry and desperately needed to get my nails done so I dealt with it. A friend suggested this place to me and just walking in I was greeted by a group of sweet lady's that were all from the area and spoke English very well, which I feel like I must say I have nothing against other races and languages, but please keep in mind my previous experience where they couldn't even understand I was in pain. After that my technician heather asked me what I wanted and I told her I would need a full set due to the poor job of the previous place, she insisted that she could fix the issues with just a fill in and if that didn't work we'd then look at replacing the nails. I picked out my color (which the only polish they carry is opi, this impressed me!) and she went to work. Heather was so gentle and delicate with my hands and was very professional and sweet, when it came to filling in the nails she indeed did fix all the cracks to were I thought I had a brand new set on, she was such an artist with shaping the acrylic and made sure they were thick, but not to thick and not bothering or covering my cuticles at all on top of that she barely had to take out the drill and was able to just use a file. When painting my nails she was EXTREMELY thorough with the paint and glitter making sure every little space on my nail was covered. Heather will now be the only person I trust with my nails and I can honestly say I have never been so happy with my nails. If you're looking for a clean, fairly priced, professional and trustworthy place to go I give my highest recommendation to the lady's at Debra's nails. Read Less

I went to Debra's Nail Desire because a friend gave me a certificate that she said she wouldn't use. She's not the mani/pedi type. I scheduled an appointment and arrived on time. I waited like 15 minutes to be helped. The salon is so small. There are 3 pedicure stations closely placed together. I was seated at the furthest from the entrance. I had to maneuver my climb to the pedicure chair because of all the trinkets they have for sale on the wall next to it. The pedicure itself was fine. The girl that did my nails had to retouch a lot though. That didn't bother me as much as other interactions with her that day. I get that conversations can be awkward in salons, that's fine, but some of the things that she said were bothersome. There was one point when she pointed out that all the employees on staff were American and that you can understand them better than if you go to another salon.  She then asked me when I was getting acrylics done why I decided not to get a gel manicure. I explained that I knew salons use uv light to seal them and I'm fair skinned. She responded with "well you go outside without sunscreen don't you?!" in a very rude tone. She only slightly recovered in explaining that they use led, not uv lights. My last complaint also has to do with some of the things said. While doing my acrylics she expressed a few different times how she wasn't confident in doing acrylics.... The end result was that even though I asked multiple times to cut them down, she still kept them fairly long and oddly shaped. I will not go back there. Read Less

Highly recommend!I have had acrylic nails for over 20 years. When my longtime maniciurist moved away, I tried a few of the "nail salons" around town and came away totally discussted. I decided to take a break and went several years without acrylics. I decided to try Debra's Nails Desire and I came away extremely pleased. These ladies are incredible. I am not from Knoxville and in my efforts to find a quality nail salon I found Debra's. I first drove by and stopped in and liked what I saw and made an appointment. I was not disappointed at all. They called the day before to confirm and on the day of appointment Debra (owner) was on time - on a busy Saturday at that! I've been to Debra's Nail Desire three times after buying a groupon for 1/2 off OPI Axxium nail polish. Each time I have been there, I've had Kim do my nails. She is just wonderful! After my last appt, my polish lasted 3 weeks. SERIOUSLY, three weeks!!! And I'm a stay at home mom with her hands in the sink all the time. I highly recommend trying this place out. I have been going to Debra's for a veeerrryyy long time! Debra and her staff are wonderful and friendly. I am there every two weeks whether I need it or not! This salon wil make sure some way some how even in the busiest of times htat you ar etaken care of even if it means staying past closing time to get you taken care of! I can not tell you how important and special it makes you feel that they will go to any lengths to take care of you! I recently relocated here from Michigan and was impressed with the service. I had contacted another salon within 2 miles of Debra's and asked if they used MMA (which is illegal in Tennessee and can be nail damaging and cancer producing). Surprisingly, the other salon admitted to using MMA. Debra's does NOT use MMA and they did a very high quality job. I will return to Debra's and would highly recommend them. Read Less

I was not impressed. My nail polish is bubbly. Nails aren't fully painted. I don't consider myself picky, but I AM NOT IMPRESSED. I feel for the money, I should have smooth, fully polished nails. I won't be returning. Try Yucatan down the road. I LOVE ANNIE!!! Read Less
