Because of decent reviews of Gould's Salon Germantown and good reviews of Neka, I scheduled a wash and cut several days in advance for Saturday afternoon. I arrived 5 minutes early and was asked to have a seat and wait. Once it reached 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I went to the reception desk and asked how much longer it would be because I had been waiting so long. She was very apologetic and went to ask Neka how long it would be. She came back without a clear answer and asked if I would be okay with someone else taking care of me. Since I didn't have a true preference, I said she could have me see whomever was available. I had a seat while she went to figure it out and came back with a bag of freebies because of the wait and said someone would be with me shortly. About ten minutes later, a woman came out to say they were finishing up someone's weave, giving her a shampoo, and then they would be out. Oh, and did I need a shampoo? Yes. A cut and wash is what I scheduled. She came back five minutes later and said that they were done but had to do another wax so could they wet my hair and just cut it? No. It had now been 30 minutes after my appointment with no sign of actually being seen. She made some excuses about how they were busy and I was supposed to see someone else. Yes, it's busy, but that is why I made an appointment. I left my goodie bag at the front counter and walked out. The receptionist was so nice but the rest of the staff clearly does not care about impressing first time customers. No manager came out to talk to me, Neka was never to be seen, it was a disaster. I definitely recommend this location, from front desk to staff everyone is so friendly and helpful, their stylist are very professional, every time i need my hair done i rather drive 35 min to do it here than going some other place since i love it. Read Less

I love how they cut my hair and it's cheaper than the last place I went which my college budget appreciates. I did not like the lady that did my eyebrows, she didn't put a small arch in them which I usually like and it was the most painful I've ever had. It kept stinging for awhile after I left the store which is unusual for me. Read Less

My 3.5 year old son has been going to Spence, since he was 1. He is always so patient with him, no matter how wiggly he gets and he gives him the cutest/best haircuts! My husband has also used Spence for several years. He followed him when he left the Wolfchase location for the Germantown location. All of the staff in the Germantown location are friendly and so sweet to my rambunctious 3 year old. Read Less

I love Germantown Goulds. I'm greeted at the front desk by very pleasant people. My hairdresser is Sara Vogelsang. She has to be the best with color. In all my years of hair color I haven't been as happy as I am now with my hair! She listens, she is a sweet person, she does her job and I walk out fabulous! Thank you! Read Less

recently started seeing Sara V. & she's the absolute best!!! if you're looking for someone for good men's cuts, or heck whatever honestly, she's most definitely the one. (plus you gain a bestie out of it.... how could you go wrong with that???) The stylist I was assigned had no idea how to blow dry hair. She did not have the appropriate products & applied mousse and hairspray on wet hair. Instead of sectioning the hair to dry it, she tried to blow dry it randomly. Her flat iron was not hot, so she tried using an old style curling iron. I realized she did not have the skills to do a 21st century blow dry. I left with my hair looking like a bird nest. I don't know what they charged, but I had to go to another salon where they were astounded. I expected much more from Hould's. Read Less

When I take my energetic 2yo son to get a haircut I am pleasantly surprised at how well they handle him. We come in as a walk in and whoever wants to handle him that day is who we take. I get excellent service there as an adult and when I bring my 2yo. The salon is very busy but I never have to wait very long and we always go as walk-ins. The product they use are top notch. I have issues with scents and they are very accommodating when I ask questions or ask to smell the product they will be using. I would recommend them to adults and children as they have wonderful pricing, the haircut looks really good (we have very thick, fine hair), and the speed along with the demeanor is top notch. My daughter gave me a gift card and I decided to use it at this location for a mani/pedi. I was extremely disappointed in both services and here is why. Nothing about either of the two was relaxing in any way. In fact, I left annoyed.  The whole Spa experience was pretty much nonexistent. I got the Shellac manicure and the manicurist filed my nails with a file that had obviously been used on others, she never soaked my fingers or put anything on them before scraping and trimming the cuticle area, and I'm wondering about the cleanliness of those tools. Every other place I've been to uses a new packet of tools for every person. The manicurist herself had some very dirty looking long fake nails on herself which should have been my first red flag to leave, but I wanted to give it a chance. She also started our conversation by talking about her own personal problems, which if I'm paying to go somewhere and relax I do not want to hear that. Last thing about that is there was about a 10 second hand massage. The pedicurist was nice but didn't spend any time at all on the scrub or massage part of the pedicure. Both lasted less than a minute and did not give me a chance to relax. The only reason I gave one star was both did a decent job painting them and the products used were good. Read Less

I had recently been to another location and I had a terrible experience. I got an ombre that just wasn't right and I also had a burnt scalp from the foil. Goulds was very understanding and contacted me about my experience. I received a refund to get my hair fixed. I was hesitant because of the experience I had before. Sarah colored my hair back to almost normal, and she cut pretty layers to help with the damage I have done to my hair. I would definitely recommend Sarah if you go to this location!! Read Less

This is my first appointment in this Goulds. It is clean and crowded and a little noisy the shampoo chairs appear new and large and clean. I enjoyed a nice scalp massage and my shirt stayed dry. Sometimes the shampoo people can soak you but that was not the case here. The beautician gave me the haircut I requested quickly and efficiently with confidence. The small talk was pleasant without being intrusive. The blow dri was comfortable without over pulling or over heating. The hair cut and style were exactly what I requested. I am very pleased.
