This will be the last time I come to this nail shop. They are Racist. I walk inside the shop and the guy told me it will be two hours I said why my nail Katie didn’t tell me that when I called her to reschedule my appt. I said if you come to my place of employment which is a hospital we are not going to turn you around because we busy or short staff so how is that my fault. Michelle loses patience easily and I felt pretty bad the remainder of my visit because I was newish and forgot to say I wanted tips before she dipped my nails in the powder. A lot of the nail experts are amazing and do a really gentle job. Read Less

Not sure that I trust how sanitary this place was. I'm from out of town and had a broken nail so I was desperate. The person who "welcomed"Me was lounging on their entry way couch like he was at home with his shoes off, I questioned if they were even open. The whole shop seemed a little off, idk I can't put my finger on it. Also the woman who did my nails took her tools out of the blue sanitizing pouch but I seriously doubt they were recently cleaned because the pouch was already open at the bottom and looked grimey. I've been going to this salon for over 2 years. My experience has always been pleasant. My appointments are always with Jenny however, Kat and Michelle are also very attentive. I decided to write a review due to negative ones I read about this salon. I've seen customers come in expecting to be waited on immediately and get an attitude when it doesn't happen. Unless you have an appointment, that doesn't happen at any salon unless it's a slow day.  The people here are nice, give them a chance and form your own opinion. Read Less

The service is terrible, judgmental manicurists, over an hour wait time, and my visit resulted in a cuticle infection from a sloppy buffing job. Overall I wish 0 stars were an option for this review. If I could give this place 0 stars, that would be great! First time going to Kathy's nails-worst experience ever! I went in for a shellac fill, polish change on my toes, & eyebrow wax. The place is beautiful, staff seemed professional at first but my nails were RUSHED, the very SAME night my shellac polish started peeling off, & I waited for hours to get them done! Not to mention, there is a huge language barrier here! No one wanted to help me match the polishes for my hand and feet; kept telling me to get one that almost looks the same! The guy who did my nails rushed the entire process; did not even cover the whole nail with acrylic. I never got a chance to get my polish on my toes and I never got the eyebrow wax. I am very disappointed that I wasted my time and money with this place. Now, I'm walking around with half chipped nails because I refuse to go and pay for the same services twice in a week. Waited an hour for pedicure with my feet in freezing cold water,asked twice for them to warm it up! I ask the lady to cut down my nails and she cuts all but big one and I had to ask her to do that one too... then she forgot to do half the pedicure and was skipping all over the place. •I would not even give this any kind of star honestly. Service I received truly disgusted and disappointed me • I'm in a cosmetology class. I learned how to give a proper manicure to clients. I learned the correct procedures, how to talk to them, and how to make them feel welcome. A salon or a spa is somewhere a client comes to relax and enjoy themselves and be allowed to have a break not worrying about anything. Well I went to the mall on Sunday afternoon and got my nails done with my friend Romane. Well... once we first got there the people snapped at us telling us to tell them what we wanted and to pick out a color then sit down and wait to be called. We get called and we sit down. In a manicure the very first thing a client must have done is to have their polish taken off. Then cuticle softener. Then a massage. With the cuticle softener...(a lotion like substance we must soak our fingers in) our manicurist had us soak our fingers for about an hour. (Yes I counted) To soften your cuticles it takes nothing but about 3-5 min. She was over here looking at her magazine minding her own business not paying a lack of attention to anybody else. Then somebody else came up and did our nails. There is a certain way you must have your nails filed otherwise they will chip and break off. For that to happen the nail file goes back and forth over and over again (what most people usually do). This causes very bad damage to the nail. Then you are supposed to buff the nails. That did not happen. In the middle of painting the people made us pay. No service should make you pay in the middle of getting whatever you're getting done, done. Not acceptable what so ever. My nails have been chipping off piece by piece. Here are two pictures of just one day after. These were taken in the morning and they have only gotten worse. I have been very careful of what I have done today and they are just getting worse. Not only I had a bad experience. I have bad nails now. My brother in law has done my nails for me more than I can count and they have lasted at least a few days. •Would not recommend paying $15 for your nails to be chipped and to have a bad experience.• Read Less

I came here on a whim while I was at Carriage Crossing. I typically go to Vo's by Kroger on Byhalia. I got tips and dip powder and all I can say is that it was pretty horrible. The end result looked alright but the process took almost two hours with the amount of times my nail tech walked away from me to go do someone else, go to the back, etc. She was very rough and I really don't complain about roughness, but it was almost out of hand how bad it hurt at some times. I did bleed at one time from the drill on my cuticle, which has never happened to me before so I was shocked. Like I said the end result was alright, with the edges of the powder very uneven, but still attractive from afar. Read Less

Workers tend to place priority on Caucasian customers which is a faulty strategy because the last time I checked money is green. Additionally, not all nail techs are license and will damage your nails/cuticles. Careful when selecting this salon. Read Less

This was the usual place for my daughter--not after today. The lady was rude, insisting on me paying before my daughter came out. I've never done it this way. I can see why; the work is substandard. I decide to go to this location because they have later hours and worked well for my schedule.every employee was extremely rude- i wanted shellac on my nails and had some questions and the manager on duty was more than rude. the prices are not posted so anytime i asked the price would change and it ended up being outrageously priced. it has been less than a week and my shellac is pealing and my pedicure is messed up. they charge for a manicure on top of the shellac. will never go back - with the bad service, poor quality, rude employees, and high prices i cannot believe they are still open. Kathy's Nails has turned into a hit or miss nail salon. And my last several visits have been complete misses. When I first started going here, I had a really great experience, the nail tech was friendly, skilled, and overall performed a great manicure/pedicure service. I haven't seen her there lately so either her schedule changed or she moved on... The salon was always clean and offers a huge selection of polishes. However, the last several visits have been absolutely awful. The services were performed half-heartedly by unfriendly techs. My cuticles were either wrecked or untouched and polish would chip off in two days due to poor application and no base coat or top coat.... At one point I requested a tech to go back and out base coat on after she sloppily applied polish and was grumbled at... I have also had to request top coat on a pedicure. She seriously did not put a top coat on! I mean.... What?!? The last and I mean LAST time I was there or will ever go, the tech proceeded to file so hard without actually looking at what she was doing she broke the skin under my toe open. She then was so careful with my other foot that she barely filed/cut or managed my nails and cuticles at all.  So... Yeah.... The two star rating is an average. If it were just first four times I had services performed by a friendly and competent technician, I would rate 4 stars. It would have been one star because of the five other terrible visits. the first time i went 2 years ago it wasn't too bad. however the next four times i went were a complete different story. they are usually understaffed so there will be six girls waiting to get their nails done and only two people working so you wait forever. for some reason workers will switch different hands. they start on one girl then they stop and start on another girl. then they come back and it ends up taking twice the amount of time. then they practically take their anger out on your hands. they hurt and are very rough, not gentle at all. then you leave with uneven, different length, sloppily painted nails. they don't pay attention to detail and go way too fast and they also seem to forget hands can feel pain. don't go here, not worth it at all. The absolute RUDEST service I've ever experienced at a nail salon, and I've been to many. This rating system doesn't allow for anything less than one star, so I am forced to be generous in giving one whole star. You would think in this economy and more importantly with as MANY nail salon choices as there are around Memphis that the owners of Kathy's Nails would know better. Either they are clueless or they don't care. I think it's both. After my pedi was done, and I had just sat down at the drying station, I was harrassed to pay immediately. I politely asked if it would be okay if I paid right after my toenails were dry....afterall, I had just sat down no more than 10 seconds at the drying station. The person (manager or owner) became irritated with my reply and barked that I owed $30, which is the price of my pedi, but the way this person yelled it at me was rude. No more than one minute later, this person came back and told me to pay AGAIN. I knew my toes were not yet dry since it had only been 30 seconds since he first addressed me. But again, I was very polite and said that I would like to pay as soon as my toenails were dry. Two minutes later this time, I was told to pay yet again. I had finally had enough and got up to pay so that I could leave. My toes were not even dry yet, but I felt harrassed and wanted to leave. Unbelievably RUDE. By the way, I'm convinced that this is how they run their business because I had a rude experience at their other location in Collierville. Shame on me for patronizing their business a second time.
