I went to Paradise Nail Spa yesterday and I had a horrible experience. When I came in my natural nails were extremely long. I had an overlay and wanted a new set and to try ombré nails for the first time. The guy explained to me that he specializes in doing ombré and I also told him I wanted my nails cut down. So he removed the old set without care roughly and before you knew it he was starting my new set. The pinky was done first and looked ok. It went downhill from there. You can see how unevenly my nails are done! Each nail differs from the one before it. He went over my nails at least five times and they look horrific!! I calmly expressed to him which is the owner who sits at station 1 that I wasn’t satisfied with my nails and even showed him on my phone how ombré nails suppose to look. His excuse.... my nails are too short!! Remind you he knew beforehand what I wanted before I asked him to cut down my nails and also that the unprofessional job that he did had absolutely nothing to do with length of my nails!!! You can achieve this look with medium to short nails. So upon discussing what went wrong he become disrespectful and then told me he could paint them for me since I wasn’t satisfied with his work. Thing is if I wanted a color I would have never come in and ask for ombré nails!!! This is what I had my mind set to so now I’m given an option because of his screw up? He became irate and I asked if someone else could fix them and he and his side kick seemed to think I was still suppose to pay for these screwed up nails!! He argued with me and when I spoke he talked over me each time. Finally he and she told me I could go and that I was cheap and just couldn’t afford the nails!!! I asked him did he feel this way because I was black and that he feels black people don’t have any money, and he said that’s exactly what he thinks!! He will never touch any of my green money since he feels so strongly about black people which by the way are the main ones coming to his shop and allowing it to remain open anyhow. My nails look horrible and the communication there is terrible and the customer service is mediocre. NEVER COME HERE BECAUSE IF THEY SCREW UP THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR WORK AS DO MOST CAT EATING CHINESE PEOPLE, YEAH I SAID IT!!! Read Less

I came here on a whim despite the lukewarm reviews and I’m glad I did. My major hope was cleanliness and this spa is clean. The use liners in the pedicure spas which I was really happy to see. The staff is very nice. They have a large section of nail polish, though I brought my own & they did a great job on my pedi/mani. The price is more than what I’m used to but I think it is about average for the area. I will definitely be returning. Read Less

It's a working weekend for me at the Charleston convention center, and I decided late last night I needed an emergency pedicure. I was a little concerned about the lackluster reviews, but decided to walk across the street to check it out. So glad I did! The please is bright and clean, the people are friendly, I was seated right away and enjoyed a gentle, attentive deluxe pedicure with nail art for $42. It's a convenient location and stopped in to get a pedicure after seeing that Prince's is now a Halloween store. The people who work there or own it are nice and mean well but whoever I had was not experienced or skilled. Took an hour and 15 minutes -- water not warm and polish job was pretty bad. I know I can ask them to repolish but from past experiences in life it takes even longer to redo the mistakes and they're never done right bc the person just isn't good at it so just taking it as a lesson learned! When the owner sold out and Kevin bought the place the quality of staff and products went down. I have been a customer for 5 years and will not go back. The tech could not understand English, Kevin did not help and my nails were pealing within a few days. Very splotchy job with several different shades of coloring.Read Less

The reason for the four stars is because I went there Tuesday June 6th ( 3 days ago), there wasn't any wait, the nail technicians were very friendly, generous and socialable. The only problem I have is that my gel nails started peeling the next day. And my gel nails usually last for at least a month before getting them redone. This was my first time going there. I believe the Polish probably was just old or drying out soon. I still would recommend people to get service done.Read Less

I wasn't sure if I was going to go here because of the mixed reviews, but I always figure if I don't like them, I won't return. I was pleasantly surprised. I went today, a Saturday about 1 pm, and I was immediately greeted and seated. I do acrylic fill with gel color, and he said he could do that. I have to say he did a terrific job and he was fast and neat. The cost - $35 which for this area, was reasonable. I am attaching a photo to show what a nice job he did. This was my first visit and without a doubt my best experience at a nail salon since coming to Charleston, hands down. I was taken right back and for $42, I got a set of gel nails with white tip. (I like the natural look.) Before I left a green tea based lotion was applied as each forearm and hand and individual finger was given a massage. All of this plus the fact that I left there and didn't have a bunch of excess gel under my nails made me very happy. Repeat customer! Read Less

I went in yesterday to get a gel manicure. They were busy and asked me to wait. No problem. They even brought me a bottle of water while I was waiting. I told the person doing my nails what I wanted (a base color and half moons). He used a different color for the half moons then I had asked for. He kept leaving me to attend to other clients. He didn't even clean up my nails. Less than 24 hours and they have already begun to pe because of the poor quality. Huge bubbles, inconsistent sizes. Extremely limited selection of non-gel colors and they all appear to be older and not in great condition anymore, some were quite thick in the bottle. $25 for a pedicure where I opted for no massage, scrub, hot towel or lotion. Cuticles were still apparent post pedicure and the quality of the polish job was something I could have easily done at home. Paid $26 total ($1 for using a credit card) for a soak, quick pumice and poor quality polish. I'm only in town for business but will not return during any future trips. Though this place was recommended by several staff at the hotel I am staying at, I may have just not gotten the best employee for the job but am not willing to risk it again for the price. Read Less

In town for business and desperately needed a gel fill and a nail repair. This place is in a central location near majority of the hotels in the area. I was a walk in. There was no wait and the gentlemen that did my nails did a really good job. The facility was clean and the employees were very friendly. The prices were a bit pricey. I have never been here before and it was closest to my house, I am in a wedding Saturday and need to squeeze in my nails today. I had a very nice older gentlemen do my nails and from the start I realized it was not going to be my best experience. He was just not very meticulous and a little sloppy with the filing and cuticle removal. The gel polish was streaky and not clean around the edges. I complained while having my brows waxed (different guy and did an amazing job) and he told the owner who then redid my nails and they were perfect, clean, even and streak free, just what you would expect! His name was Kyle and he was great, recommend the business bc they took care of me and were very pleasant just do not recommend that older gentlemen in particular for gel manicures. Okay so I had a little bit of time before my flight, so I decide let me grab lunch from panera and have my refill done there. $18 it says on the board, I'm thinking not bad, the guy was an older gentlemen, who took his time I must say, however, when the guy tells me I owe him$25 for a refill? I ask hum why? He says because of the shape, nowhere in the board does it say that. The place was clean, the people working there not very friendly, however, I was there to get my nails done, not make friends. So there you have it, $25 refill and close to the airport. I am happy with the way my nails look, but I think the guy just charged me extra as an extra tip to himself, although I tipped him anyways. He did not even say thank you! Literally the worst establishment I've ever patronized. I went in on a whim because I seriously needed a pedicure. The bowl part of my pedicure was good, but the polish!!!! Smh I'm convinced the polish they have in the opi bottles are not opi. As I was waiting for my toes to dry I looked at my feet and realized half of one of my toes was not polished. My other toe's polish seemed to have a ripple effect going on, only I didn't get a design of any kind. I asked the owner to polish the rest of my toe and he had me wait while he plaid poker on his phone. About an hour later I returned to my hotel room and the polish on both my big toes was gone!! I called to tell them what had happened and the owner yelled at me, and told me to come back and they would fix it. I walked back, and they fixed it, but not without talking about me before I left. As I was waiting for my toes to dry the owner told another customer "if u don't have your own sandals wear ours home. See her? She messed her toes up several times, and now she's mad because she had to come back because she messed them up again" I will never come back to this nail salon! A male perspective is nice for a salon, right?My pedicure service was a total let down. For the prices they charge, I shouldn't have been in and out in less than 20 minutes. Totally not relaxing and very impersonal.I got the basic pedicure package. They were not busy or close to closing, but the whole thing was just rushed. I seriously felt like they judged me as an ignorant guy who wouldn't know what I was supposed to be getting with the service. The leg massage was less than 3 minutes combined, foot scrub didn't even begin to be relieving. I'm extremely picky about the cleanliness of a nail salon and how welcome the employees/owners make me feel when I walk in. I've been coming to Paradise Nail Spa for about 3 months and they have not disappointed me! It is not dusty like most nail salons, and I watch the staff properly care for their equipment before/after they use it. Please don't allow previous comments keep you from trying this salon, because you will miss out on the satisfaction of having beautiful nails done how YOU want them done- which was the original reason I started shopping around for a new salon.
