I've been going to this business for roughly 2 1/2 years. During this time I put up with an awful lot from these people because overall they do great nails if you can get the same person (mainly the man, father, husband) to do them from start to finish without pushing you off on one of his daughters to finish up, as in do the polish. So many times it went through my mind "this is my last trip here" but I think today finally was. He had started my nails only to push me off yet again to his very young daughter then I left with bubbles in my nails that I had already waited a very long time for my turn to get only because another woman was there pushing him because she had to be at work. I'm sorry, you DO your job not push it off on a child. His wife takes calls from family members while doing your nails which is very unprofessional and will leave you sitting there if someone comes in wanting lashes or eyebrows done. It's like a gel refill doesn't matter. He will also take calls . He's very rough with you but he's quick. He will tell you not to whine. You put up with it because they are fast and good but, like me, enough is enough. Oh, and they can NEVER seem to get their prices straight. I don't think I ever paid the same price twice. They want you to pay cash. They will give you a slight discount for cash but they never seem to charge the prices they advertise. Read Less

I had called prior to walking in to see how much my nails were going to cost (acrylic + gel polish). They told me it'd be $38. I get there and the woman just immediately starts putting on the acrylics. There wasn't a soak or cuticle trimming at all, nothing. Then I show her a picture of the design I wanted and she point blank says she can't do it. So I'm like "okay no big deal, just tips then" and that was fine. She then tells me the price is $45 for my uneven tipped nails that she had to redo about 3 times that caused bubbles to erupt from all the polish that was on them. I leave and a few hours later (they were already closed by this time) I notice my thumb nails were increasingly sore around the cuticles and there was a big chunk on my left ring finger that had just peeled right off. This is gel polish; it's supposed to last 2 weeks, not 2 hours. Needless to say, I don't plan on ever going back. Read Less

My bridal party went to Carlyle Salon for our hair and makeup on the big day and we had such a wonderful experience. Their wedding coordinator was prompt and booking was very easy. The Salon is stylish and inviting and all the the stylists and makeup artists listened to what we wanted. Each of us had a different style and each of us ended up looking and feeling unique and beautiful. In particular, I do not wear very much make up and I was a little worried about looking too made up, but and I was so impressed by how natural and comfortable I felt! Absolutely crappy especially for the price. I got a full set French manicure. First, they put clear tips on and I asked for white. The tech, said no, they would not look nice. But I get them done like that at every other nail salon and im paying for it. Other salons usually do a light pink acrylic followed by white acrylic for the tips. They hand painted the white on which you can clearly tell that she did not have a steady hand. Then the paint is so thick on some of the tips that they look really fake. They did not file and shape them well either. My daughter wanted a manicure and nails painted and all they did was paint her nails which she could have done at home.  They did not cut back her cuticles or anything other than paint her nails. I guess it's my fault since they were the only salon that was NOT busy on July 3rd. They charged $38 for the full set and  $10 for my daughter to get her nails painted, not even with gel Polish. I am new to SC and have been looking for a quality nail salon for my mani pedis.  I went here to get my biweekly mani pedi.  They got me right in.  My nail tech was pleasant and friendly.  She seemed to do a good job on my feet and hands.  I was satisfied when I walked out.  It wasn't until 2 days later that I noticed the polish peeling off my toes.  I have been getting pedicures for the better part of 6 years and never has the polish peeled off so quickly.  My pedicures usually last for 2 weeks or more.  I went back in to see if they could touch up the polish.  They told me that they do not guarantee that it will last.  Since I really wasn't fond of the color I originally picked I just decided to have them do a polish change on my nails and toes.  The owner scraped down my nails (its a gel polish), and they got me over to a pedicure station.  I sat there with my feet in luke warm water for 25 minutes before anyone came over to change my polish.  While doing my polish she seemed in a hurry and was getting it all over my cuticles.  She never bothered to fix it correctly even after I said something.  I had to fix it when I got home.  As far as the color change on my finger nails, she globed the gel polish on my nails.  She seemed aggravated and kept yanking my hand into a position that my hand wont go in so she could see better.  Once my nails were dry (with the UV light) she had to use a cuticle cutter to snip away the globed nail polish from my skin.  Like I said, I have been getting this done for many years, and I have never seen such shoddy work in my life.  I will NEVER be going back there again Read Less

Went to get my nails fixed. He was so rough. He nicked my fingers several times and kind of jerked my hands as he switched. I think I had a panic attack. Worst experience of my life getting my nails done and I was getting them done for my wedding! Not the time to have these issues. The guys who did my nails was bossy and when I told him what I wanted he told me no. They charged me for a full gel set but did ACRYLIC, NOT GEL. When I told them I wanted them short he told me no and wouldn't cut them down. To top it off he didn't know how to do any designs. It was horrible. Absolutely horrible. I will NEVER go back!! I absolutely love this place! My first visit they put a movie on for my daughter while she got her nails done. And our nails were beautiful. After moving to Santa Barbara I struggled to find the right salon, but decided to try Carlyle after viewing styles that resonated with me on their Instagram feed. From the second I walked into Carlyle I felt completely pampered. The look and feel of the space is so beautiful with their elegant decor and I was immediately welcomed by their friendly staff & offered a coffee or mimosa :) Ashton did an incredible job on my cut & color. She listened to what I wanted and discussed exactly what she would do to achieve that look. I received the most amazing scalp massage, the color she did was impeccably-blended and the cut was just what I wanted, the perfect trim without sacrificing length. The only reason I gave the one star is because the young girl who did my pedicure did an amazing job. Myself and a friend of mine went in to get our nails done. She got a full set and I got a fill and a pedicure. Both of us have an issue with our nails being uneven and not all the way down to the cuticle which means we will have to both get our nails filled way before 2 weeks. Also they could not explain why it cost $85 for a full set and a fill and a pedicure. A full set cost $25 a fill costs $15 and a pedicure cost $25. Leaving a grand total of $65. The older woman could not explain why it was costing us $20 extra. We argued for about 20 minutes and I was finished arguing and I just paid it and I will make sure I never go back there again or recommend it to anybody else. I have been a long-standing customer for at least 4 to 5 years. I also did not appreciate how the older woman's husband made fun of us and mocked both my friend and I when we were trying to figure out why it cost $20 more than what was printed on the wall. I do not recommend this shop to anybody and will make sure I never go there again. I did find an amazing shop located in Moncks Corner off of Highway 52 in the same shopping center as the Big Lots. The people in there are amazing and do an amazing job. They were actually able to fix what this other shop did. Read Less

Looked online for a specific nail service and when I went to the salon they told me they no longer do it so I figured they at least have the experience to remove it from my nails. I was mistaken, they left half of it on and told me i needed to get additional services to make it look better, like a manicure. Everything was finished and I left, looked at my nail and the original polish was still peeling off. I went back in to have them fix it and they just used a stronger sanding bit and buffer which got it all pretty much but did leave me with an abrasion from the buffer block. I am not happy to say the least and will not be returning or referring customers to the salon. Read Less

Nasty shop, ceiling tiles gone, dust everywhere. The female owner started my nails, stopped 3 times to go work on someone else, then shoved me off to her husband to finish. She burned several of my nails with the drill that was going way to fast, never once apologizing. The husband cut three of my cuticles and way up on 2 other fingers with his drill and file, never once apologizing, just goofy remarks, not using anything to dry the blood or disinfect. He used his own long, yellow nails as "tools" (smoker?) to push with, took several calls from screaming women on speaker phone while working on my nails, all the while talking/visiting with some other guy. What happened to making a manicure/nail service a relaxing, quiet service in a pleasant atmosphere? I left this hell hole immediately after the job and went next door and bought alcohol and Neosporin to use because I was concerned about catching something from this filth.  Of course signs up saying they prefer cash. Hope IRS audits these places but I'm sure they don't.   NEVER again to darken this door. Read Less

I hate them with all in my body. There's not a welcoming greeting by the female. She also never smiles. The kicker is they get upset with you for paying with credit/debit cards instead of cash, yet they have the visa and MasterCard logos on the front desk. I only came due to time constraints. The lady here was less than friendly and seemed annoyed by any questions. The worst nail experience ever! I wish I could give negative stars. I have gone to this establishment many times both with old owners and new owners. I had a pedicure yesterday and it was a vey unpleasant experience to say the least. The young women who did my pedicure made one of my toes bleed and did not even say she was sorry, she seemed very bored with the whole thing, and the polish job is one of the worst I have had. The absolute worst place I've ever been for nails. I use to go here when I was in high school because it was reasonably priced. Although the prices are the same, the customer service is horrendous! Today I went in VERY excited to get my old gel nails removed and a new full set with this really pretty glitter white color I saw on pinterest! An older man did my nails, didn't say a word to  me until it was time to ask me what color tips I want. Excitedly, I ask if they have a glittery white color. Mistake. The man gives me the most angry look and speaks chinese to a woman who asks me what I said. I ask her and show her the exact picture of what I want. When I show her, she proceeds to say yes we have that but you have to get gel nails so it will be $40. I say OK that's fine, because I really want this color. The man tells me to go wash my hands and here is where it goes down hill.So I was my hands and upon my return, the man is talking to his colleagues in a loud, belittling voice. He was mocking me! He kept speaking chinese and the only English words he spoke was "What color would you like? Glitter?" and laughing while making hand gestures suggesting I was stupid. This went on the entire time I was there to the point I had tears building up but didn't want to be made fun of any more. I guess he noticed because he offered not to charge me for removing the old nails. My nails look fine and are exactly what I wanted, however, I will never step foot in there again.
