In my whole life and I’m from James Island have I ever had rude customer service in my life! If she didn’t want to do my nails that’s all she had to say. When the young lady ask me what service I was getting I told her a fill in and a cut down! She smerk and shake her head! I should of walk off and went somewhere else! I don't normally post reviews. However, if I can save someone from A HORRIBLE pedicure it's worth the time. Two of my toenails are crooked. There's paint all over my toes and not covering the full nail on my big toe. I went with A group of 6 girls and the one pedicure technician kept jerking my girlfriend's foot and getting RUDE with her making her feel so uncomfortable and disrespected she left early. This place is amazing!!!!!! Omg!!!! So happy I found it while from out of town! Parking is easy. They are friendly and assist you right away when you walk in. I hate salons that ignore you when you walk in. Super awkward!!! This salon is totally not like that. They have a great polish selection, multiple brands. They have a really pretty pedicure menu with amazing offerings and pricing, it's like a cocktail menu. Speaking of cocktails...they have wine and champagne/mimosas! Que did my nails and he is AMAZING!!! Seriously, best pedicure I've ever had. I got the hot stone pedicure. The Massage portion is what made the pedicure the best. Stay away from this unsanitary place. When I received my service, which was an SNS manicure and pedicure, I did NOT get a full manicure just a simple buff and cuticle removal. At any other nail salon I have went to, I've always had my hand soaked in water before my nail services start. Also, the nail tech uses a drill for buffing and cuticle removal, I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty sure that is not of good practice. I witnessed my nail tech use the same equipment from the last person on my nail without changing or cleaning it, and when I spoke up about it he brushed me off like it was no big deal. After I left, I accidentally messed up my big toe nail and when I went back to get it fixed, they refused to fix it saying they would have to charge me(wow). I will never step foot back into that place and I would advise you avoid this place as well. Read Less

WAITED FOR ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES WITH HANDS SOAKING IN ACETONE AND NO MANICURE OR ATTENTION! I used to be a very loyal customer at this place, until  today. I came in to take my SNS off and do a manicure. As they set me down and clipped my nails to soak in acetone,they left me to wait for SNS to soften. Meanwhile,  they invited other guests that came in after me, set them down and left me siting their with hands soaking in acetone for entire hour and 10 minutes. ONE HOUR AND 10 minutes! During that hour they managed to finish nails of multiple people that came in after me. As I starred at the guy that was assigned to me and asked him  what was going on, he said "sorry" and proceeded to do nails of a lady that came in 30 minutes after me. They did not only lost me as the customer, they also completely wasted an hour and a half of my day with no result. First, I am normally not the type of person to  post a review but really felt this info is something everyone should have some knowing about. Scott and the entire staff at Sea Star Nails are fantastic. I have never had a bad or even just OK experience when I have gone. It has always been great and a relaxing time. They are definitely the best place to go to on James Island and I am confident in even saying all over the  Charleston too. I appreciate the time and effort they really truly give. Also a bonus story to add  I was stopped by 2 different people yesterday just to tell me how wonderful my eyebrows looked and wanted to know if I did them myself or professionally and as much as I would like to say I did it myself I told them No and went on about how great the salon was. I have been going to Sea Star ever since I moved to SC from GA. I drive every 3 weeks from Summerville (45 minutes) because the quality of SNS application. I've never had a bad manicure.Also, not many nail salons in the greater Charleston area use liners on their pedicure bowls, and being a cosmetologist myself, that's a HUGE deal to me. I know what happens when things aren't safe and sanitized.Scott and Megan (the owners) know what they're doing. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!  I did my due diligence and surfed around on Yelp for a new nail salon!  (My old one seemed to be going down hill)I have been getting my nails done for over 20 years so, I tend to be very picky when it comes to my technician /salon!  I want a person that pays attention to detail as well as a clean/friendly environment!  Let me just say, Sea Star did NOT disappoint!From the moment I called and the moment I walked through the door I felt welcomed!  Upon arrival I was asked if I'd like a beverage...be it water, soda or wine!  All complimentary, I might add!  I chose water, simply because...it wasn't quite yet happy hour.  LOL.  I came in wanting to get an ombre french tipped pink and white!  I had been on the website earlier and noticed a pic a person had posted of said ombre and brought it up in conversation!  Only difference, the picture was a coffin style and I wanted a more traditional square/round!  My nail tech, Scott..."NAILED" it!  He was extremely professional, kind, funny and yet serious about his task at hand!  I walked away...100% satisfied in his delivery of the perfect french tip ombre!  I am more than excited to pass along to anyone that wants a professional environment alongside a professional and precise outcome to give this place a shot!  Lord knows I will be returning in 2 weeks for my refill...with bell's on!  LOL. Terrible. The guy hacked my nails into uneven shapes, sped through putting on polish without moving articulately across the nail bed, and when all finished, the polish immediately alligator wrinkled. They looked awful, as I sat under the dryer having paid $37 for this mess, I asked the manager for it to be fixed. They offered the same guy to fix it, I kindly asked for another employee to fix it. She seemed irritated to being in this situation. She told me to come in before I chop my nails short. I kept telling them their manicurist hacked them! Meanwhile the "fix" left them worse. Well this was the first salon I went since living in Charleston & I found them off Yelp, I must say it was one of the most pleasant experiences that I've had visiting a new nail shop. A lot of the reviews mention Scott & Megan so I made it my mission that I try them both out & they were great. Such a great experience!!!! Excellent customer service and amazing manicure. Affordable, and what I love most; is how Megan (who did my nails) took her time. So after 10 years with Monica at the real Nail Palace by Publix, I went there for the first time last week. Perhaps they are used to tourists going to the beach, not looking for recurring revenue from locals.Still, I did not find the salon tidy/clean nor was the staff very friendly.  Fair job on my nails and I always tip. CUSTOMER BEWARE If I could give this place negative stars I would but since I'm limited to a one star that will have to do. When there was a discrepancy in the color they put on my nails, the owner gave me two options: pay or sit there another hour and have someone redo them. At first I agreed to let someone redo them but quickly changed my mind due to the fact that when I asked the nail tech to make a recommendation for a color that looked like the one I actually wanted she told me couldn't make a recommendation and that I would have to choose. At that point I was so disgusted with the customer service that I decided to leave. The owner stood there screaming at me in front of the other customers saying "You will pay!!! Nothing here is free!!!" I tried walking out but he blocked the door and wouldn't let me leave. He then proceeded to follow me out in the parking lot while yelling at me to never come back. This man clearly doesn't understand customer service and needless to say is psychotic and shouldn't be in charge of a running a nail salon. Read Less

I've been here off and on since they opened in my endless search for a great nail salon in the Charleston area. Since this place is convenient I have gone there when I'm a bit desperate - so my return visits didn't mean I loved it, by any means, but it was ok enough that I went back occasionally.On my final visit two weeks ago, the chairs and pedicure tubs are showing wear, mine was not working correctly. Sadly they have old fashioned jet tubs that circulate dirty water but since the jets aren't working it might have been slightly less unclean. Manager was berating the staff constantly and although I have healthy nails, kept pushing me to do the "organic" CNS nails...but the kicker is the tech cut my foot during my pedicure and despite use of antibiotic creams nonstop - it's so painful I am heading to the doc today to have this swollen, painful horrifying injury and infection addressed. In summary - many chances to be good but they were mediocre and declined to terrible. Don't go.Update: the manager is now posting these ridiculous comments to my review wanting proof of which day I was there and simultaneously disputing my claim and offering me free services. I was there and paid with credit card  but I don't want to come back, for free or not. Stop the abusive comments. Read Less

It was...... not ok it was just o ( I have a hard time adding the k) I went to this place as a walk in based on yelp reviews. My friend and I walked right in picked our color and got in our chairs. I was immediately shown the pedicure menu and I first opted for the regular (spa) pedi it was $26. I told them I wanted to add the callus removal for $3. The lady doing my friend's pedi said the premium pedi comes with the callus removal. So I changed and got the $34 premium pedi. Honestly I thought to my self, "they Betta go to work on Myra's feet". Anyway They did an okay job on the cuticles I guess but the callus removal wasn't all that and the polish job wasn't good. I paid and gave a $6 tip but I will not be going back there when my friend moves to James Island this summer. As for the decor it's just okay but they are clean. They use tub liners and they use new or seemingly sterilized utensils. They give u a leg massage with the premium pedi, I've had a better pedicure with a better polish job and better callus removal in a nicer place for $20. Just sayin. Read Less

Clean and friendly establishment.  I have gotten pedicures here on multiple occasions and have always been satisfied with my experience and results.  The color selection for both gel and regular polish is large and up to date.  The chairs are very comfortable and have great massage settings.   Wine and mimosas are also available!There are a few choices for pedicure (the hot stone selection is particularly soothing) and each technician I have had has given a great massage.
