I have vistied folly nails several times because I'm a local i love the friendly atomsphere and the cleaniness but April 9th was not a good day to visit I guess. I was lied to and I'm very upset about this. I called ahead to see if the salon did Marble or Chrome design I was told yes so I went after work. When it got to the design the nail tech did not know how to do marble. After saying that they did. This is disappointing. Please do not lie. I was told they did chrome and apparently they didn't have product to do so. Another disappointment. The nail tech and another nail tech we're laughing the entire time while I was expressing my dissatisfaction, but it's ok I will not be back. This was my first time going here after trying other nail salons in the Charleston area. I received excellent service from Henry! He was precise and cautious in making sure my nails were perfect. This was the worst nail experience ever. I waited over an hour for only 15 minutes of attention to my feet, done by the OWNER! I came in with 2 other friends, one of which began before me and was still being serviced after I was long done. I received only a light buffing to my feet and then straight to polish. No deep exfoliating, no cuticle cutting, no massage, nothing. Biggest waste of $48, again, done by the Owner. Terrible service. He didn't even put my shoes back on my feet, just walked away and started a manicure on someone else. I thought maybe he would come back and finish. I made an appointment at Folly Nails based on the great reviews on Yelp. My experience was vastly different from the majority of the reviews here.  I made an appointment for a gel manicure and pedicure. What I got was a severe cuticle cut on both my toe and finger!   I'm now fighting an infection and a very swollen finger!  Not the way that I intended to spend my vacation!  The older Asian woman doing my mani/pedi was rushing and simply not paying attention to what she was doing. Chris is the absolutely perfect Nail Tech. If I could put him in my pocket and take him everywhere, I would. He totally went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and extremely pampered! He stayed opened and additional hour and a half just for me. By time I left the salon, I was a new creature. The owner, Chris, is very shady. After my pedicure the price was more than advertised. I pointed this out and suddenly she doesn't understand English and stands there just shaking here head. Perhaps I didn't speak up enough, but at the same time, I would also expect more from a $28-$33 pedi without having to ask. I got there and was greeted nicely, I was offered to pick a color and sit in a chair right away. I was not given a menu to choose the type of pedi, all I said is that I wanted a French pedi. The technician was very easy to talk with, he kept the conversation going and was very nice. He was a native of Charleston. It turned out nice, but I didn't get any massage. The only reason why I didn't say anything throughout the pedi was 1. I was thinking the massage was still going to happen but at the end somehow, and 2. If the massage didn't happen, maybe the pedi would cost a little less. Well, neither happened and I left a disappointed. Let me first say that this business is GREAT at last minute! I hadn't planned on getting my nails done before my beach wedding in October, but my mom insisted that she wanted to go, so we called and were there within 25 minutes. They were ready for 4 of us for pedicures. I was so surprised that there wasn't a wait! I got a pink and white gel nails and a spa pedicure. The nail technician didn't speak perfect English but understood what I wanted, and my nails looked amazing. THEY STAYED LOOKING BRAND NEW FOR OVER 2 WEEKS (yes, they were grown out, but with a fill at my local nail salon, they were like new again)! That never happens to me! I always break a nail or scratch them, but this time they were flawless to the end. I was referred here by a friend for the "best wedding nails possible". I called two weeks in advance and made an appointment for myself and my wedding party. They assured me they could get us in and out in an hour so I made the reservation for an hour and a half before my rehearsal. I had a full set of acrylics and pedicure, and paid for all my girls to have manicures and pedicures, we spent well over $350 in there that day and never got a receipt even though I requested one.... My nails didn't even last last two days, and they took over two hours making us late for our wedding rehearsal. When we got there nobody had our appointments set up, we had to wait at least 25 minutes to even be started, and although I mentioned multiple times we we're on a schedule, they still took their time, at one point one of the ladies doing our nails even stopped, stood up and took a video of the room with everybody getting their nails done. I was beyond angry which was not how I wanted to spend the Friday before my wedding. When I called to make the appt, I asked how long they needed, they told me an hour, if they had told me they needed two hours, I would've made the appointments for earlier. I thought Folly Nails was a good place until the last two times I went.. I paid $65.00 to get a full set acrylic with a design on 4 nails..next day I called to speak with the manager to let him know my paint was chipping off and I needed it to be fixed. He made an appointment with me the next day at 4 so I showed up exactly at 4 the next day. When I got there noone knew of my appointment so they could not help me until the manager arrived which his whole staff was laughing ab...out and telling me that he's still home sleeping and they cant get in touch with him to verify to fix my nails..so I waited 30 min and they finally contacted him..I waited another 20 min for him to arrive..He immediately sat down to fix my nails and I showed him a picture of the design I wanted. He said the other guy that worked there could do the design better he immediately stopped doing my nails and asked me to wait to the side because he has appointments he is late for mind you these women who had an appointment just arrived and I had already been there for an hour..so all in the end I waited another 20 minutes for the next man to do my nails it took him 45 minutes just to re design them and I still got charged $30 more for paint...They didnt even care that i paid 65 the day before with a $10 tip..even leaving pissed the second time I still left a $5 tip and I will never be back! I called at the last minute to make an appointment for a mani and pedi after driving from the Detroit area all night. They were able to get me in w/in a half hour. Let me tell you that was exactly what I needed. I had the pedi and the massage. Very relaxing. The people that work there are beyond friendly. I enjoyed the hour or so that I was there getting pampered and my toes and nails look amazing.  I would recommend them to all my friends if I lived in the area. I came in with 3 other girls for my bachelorette weekend. As a girls day out, we went for pedis. From calling to make the appointment to paying, the staff were amazing and made us laugh the whole time. Devan worked on my feet and he is by far the best person to EVER massage my feet. Greatest massage ever. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. One of my bridesmaid had another amazing person, but we couldn't remember her name except that she has purple and blue in her hair. If you like loud old country music while you are having a relaxing pedicure then this is the place for you. And with your relaxing pedicure you will enjoy the owner sleeping on the pedicure chair beside you or sleeping at his nail station, this was extremely unprofessional. He slept while letting a customer sit at his nail station soaking her old nail set off for 15-20 minutes. The saving grace of this business is his wonderful staff. So first off when I went to get a pedicure and I pulled my leggings up so they wouldn't get wet and they left the water running almost to the point of overflowing and my leggings got wet. Then when I got a manicure he did a pretty good job but when he finished up he told me my fingers were "short and stumpy but at least they're polished" which was extremely rude! Awesome place! We came here on the off season in January on a Saturday . My manicurist said it is usually slow during the winter. I was able to get three appointments for my friends 30th birthday. We had so much fun talking and hanging out, especially hearing stories from my manicurist (totally forgot his name). But he turns 29 today! My friend got the deluxe pedicure that supposedly Mimi (I think that was her name) gives the best. My gel manicure and pedicure only cost me$58. Which isn't so bad for charleston. My toes still look good and no chips. I just wish I could have gotten a better manicure. We were talking a lot and I don't think they did all the normal things like cuticles to help get the polish far enough back. Three days later and I already have a gap at the back of my nails. This place is great. I went in on a whim, and Chris did such an amazing job on my hands. I went in wanting acrylics and have teal polish put on them. But after he shaped the acrylics, they were so perfect and natural looking I asked him to just put a pinkish clear topcoat because I didn't want them to be covered up. My pedicure was great--Jen was meticulous about her work (and she was very sweet during my visit). The manicure was just ok- not great- I felt like the first polish we tried didn't go on correctly (too thin, perhaps?), but we switched it for one that worked better. However, not the cleanest application of polish I've ever seen, and I took the polish off two days later. There was a slight mishap with the nail clippers (my finger lost the battle), and she graciously took $5 off of the manicure (however, friends tell me it should've been free).  The owner seemed friendly. Particularly to locals. Note, I am not a local, but I do frequent the area (I have for my entire life), and I have plenty of opportunities to make recommendations to locals and other visitors--so, perhaps the question to clients shouldn't be "Do you live around here?", but rather "Have you been to the area before?". I hate to leave any review that isn't glowing, but I think the owner may wish to hear the bad along with the good....so that it can improve- these people are very friendly and they certainly don't want to provide bad service. I have been here a total of three times. They are excellent. I love that they guarantee the gel nail polish for two weeks. I've never had to have them fix it, but it is just peace of mind. Waited for Chris to show up for appointment  for one hour, was being told he would be there any minute that he was on his way (not). Finally after many unanswered calls, messages the shop employee who LIVES with Chris and his wife Jenny, called Jenny's cell.....Chris said he was sick. Funny that about a month ago his Mom who speaks no English made another appointment for me with Jenny. Jenny didn't show up for 2days? So my evaluation is DON'T bother to make an appointment because no one honors their schedules. And no one calls to tell the customer. Just walk in. If you see Chris or Jenny then you will know they are not 'sick'They both do a nice job, but appointments are useless here. NO way to run a business.The sign in the door says opens at 9:00 am. Chris, not me, made my appointment for 9:30am. No one showed up to open till 9:45. At 10:30 I left to go elsewhere. Will not be returning. Read Less

Got spa pedicures and gel manicures on a sunny weekday morning during our family vacay to Kiawah Island. Mine were great and have lasted but my cousin's chipped the very next day, perhaps a result of saltwater but she was still disappointed and it was too far to go back for such a small fix. Let me start off by saying that I don't normally write poor reviews, but this place was not up to par with any nail salon I have been to. It lacked professionalism, quality, and customer care. I attended with a wedding party of 6 ladies and upon our arrival, they informed us they had us down for the wrong day. Someone had drawn an arrow in the appointment book to the following day, the day of the brides wedding, however the receptionist insisted it was the fault of the bride and kept blaming her for the error. After much finger pointing from the staff, the told us to come back in 3 hours. When we arrived the 2nd time, we stood around waiting for 45 minutes while one by one we were given a seat as soon as a chair opened, so our party did not even get to sit and enjoy each others company. Once in a chair, we waited another 45 minutes with our feet sitting in the water till someone was free to do our pedicures. This is way too long to soak feet unless you want wrinkled prunes. The 65 year old mother of the bride was given a broken chair with no whirlpool and a broken heater, so her water got cold and she sat with her feet in cold water for 45 min. Why would you put a customer in a broken chair. My water was so hot that my skin was puckered and red. It looked like I had a pair of pink socks on. I had to pull my feet out multiple times to let them cool. The pedicure was only mediocre. I got a horrible paint job. I asked for a flower and the woman drew a blue dot on my inner corner nail and put 4 pink dots around it for flowers. It took her so long to make the dots that I felt bad telling her it looked awful. It seriously looked like I had a blue bruise on my big toes. Afterwards she commented that maybe she should have just left them clear. Well if you know it looks like crap then you should fix it!! The manicure was not a manicure. I could have done this myself. The lady basically filed my nails and again did a poor paint job on them. She missed painting half of the nails-sloppy job. There was no soak, no cuticle care, no massage!!!!!! What did I pay for?? The whole time the staff was complaining about how they were so hungry and couldn't wait to get to lunch. Maybe that's why I got the 10 minute manicure. They also complained about their management in front of customers and the fact that their equipment needed replacing. 3 hours later we were done and over 1/2 of that time was waiting around. I didn't give it full stars because there were a few professionalism type issues...nothing really horrible, just preference. I don't prefer being talked around when I'm the only person in the shop.
