Very friendly people, relaxing atmosphere with them serving water or wine. The lady who did my feet didnt work on my pedicure for a long period and she was making a face as she did it. She softened up to me when i told her i was a nursing student but she was judging me soon as she sat down at my chair. The first time I went hear my nail tech was very rude and rushed. I couldn’t hear or understand her the first time so I said pardon me and she yelled at me and treated me like i was incompetent after that. She was very rough and would snatch my hands up. My nails did look pretty good, but I was not offered a drink like other customers. They do pretty good jobs on your nails, just not good customer service (especially for younger people). Read Less

If this is the best nail salon in Charleston, wait until you're somewhere else. I waited at least 30 minutes - while I hear the receptionist telling callers that they weren't taking appointments because it wasn't busy. I just wanted a standard manicure, which I think is too little for them to bother with. My manicurist was rushed to get rid of me as soon as a regular client showed up.  And then she put the polish on way too thick. I was careful for hours and still managed to mess up my nails zipping up my jeans. A girl's gotta go sometime, and there went $18. Read Less

My daughter got the "dip" and it completely came off one nail the next day. They told her to come back and they would fix it. She did and I asked them to check the other nails while we were there. They didn't even look at the others and over the weekend 3 more came off. When I called back, they said send her in and they would give her a gift card for the $45 she spent. They used the gift card to fix the disaster they created instead of fixing them properly once and for all and then giving her a gift card for all of her inconvenience. While I was there, I waited 30 minutes before anyone even tried to help me. I told the lady I was getting my acrylic gel nails taken off and wanted a new set. However, the owner blamed me for the reason why they were just trying to take gel nail polish off. HOWEVER, shouldn't your employee know the difference between my nail and acrylic nails??? Next, the lady proceeds to tell me I just need a fill in, I'm like ok whatever. She proceeds to put polynail squeezable powder (instead of loose power and liquid) to do my fill in. Doesn't tell me it cost $30 more than a regular fill in had she taken the time like other nail techs do... so I spent $65 on a stupid fill in. Which I am highly unpleased with because it is thick and some of it is on my skin which makes my finger look weird. Not only does the owner fucker up my nails, she is complaining to the receptionists' daughter about how sorry she was that it was taking longer because again it was my fault she didn't take the time to READ my sign in where it clearly stated what I wanted done. Who even knows if the receptionist pays for it because SHE offered. SERIOUSLY NEVER RETURNING, and you should not go either. Not worth it. Read Less

Well, my wife stopped here for a mani and a pedi and I got to sit and wait since it was hotter than an oven outside at the time. The staff was super friendly and there's a great selection of magazines to choose from. As for my wife, she really liked her mani and pedi and I can attest it looked great. I went here today to get an eyebrow wax and I'm very happy with the result. It was very busy when I got there so I had to wait a little bit. They then had me sit in a chair in the corner. It wasn't private which was a bit strange for a wax, but whatever. The lady asked me how I'd like them and then got to work. They even have those cooling wipes that they use after to soothe the skin. My only complaint other than the location of the chair is the price. $15 for an eyebrow wax seems a bit pricey to me. Overall, they did a good job and had a great atmosphere. I typically judge nail salons on several factors:-Pedicure chair quantity and quality-Nail color selection -Ambiance and "niceness" of the facility-Service and friendliness of the staffI would rate East Bay a 4 star on service and pedicure chairs and a 3 star on nail color and facility. So technically my review would be 3.5 stars. The facility is large and can accommodate large parties; however I would make a reservation to ensure your party is able to sit next to each other. The chairs are pretty nice and have standard massage features. My nail tech was very friendly and made light conversation. The nail color selection was extensive but I would've appreciated they be organized by color so I could have seen all similar shades grouped together.The prices did seem a bit steep ($55 for a male pedicure manicure) but perhaps its competitive with the area (I did not price compare). I'm glad I waited a little to write this review, especially since today I had the worst nail salon experience at City Nail Spa. Now I know just how good I had it at East Bay. I went there a little over a month ago, and I really didn't need my gels redone until two days ago. Highlights:-excellent and meticulous work-very professional-took me in as a walk in with no wait-fully staffed-polite and kind-didn't force conversation-asked about the basics (which I never knew was a luxury until my bad experience at another establishment today) such as cut or push back cuticles, shape of nail, etc-free parkingCons:I now live on James Island and was too lazy to drive to East Bay. Loved this nail salon.  I was visiting Charleston for a girls weekend and wanted to treat myself to a mani-pedi.  The decor is lovely,  very warm and stylish, unlike typical nail salons in strip mall settings.  They immediately offered me a glass of white wine, which I happily accepted.  Lorna gave me a fabulous pedicure and manicure and she was fun to chat with as well.  The cost was only $45+tip, which seemed like a deal for how pampered my hands and feet feel and how lovely my nails look. The ONLY nail salon in Charleston I go to and I've been going for 4 years now. They stay busy but it's never a long wait and the staff is always friendly. So disappointed! How did this place get best of Charleston so many times?! I got a regular mani and pedi which in total took 46mins!! A pedi alone should take 45min! The girl I got was very nice but it was like she was on 100 espresso shots. 1) She barely filed my nails...I had to ask her to file more. 2) She maybe spent 1 sec pushing up my cuticles and when she was cutting my cuticles, I was afraid she was going to cut off my fingers and toes...she took a chunk out of the corner of my middle finger (seen in pic) which is currently burning as I type this review. 3) During my 30 sec massage, she dumped a bunch of that cheap oil on first and then mixed lotion into it and barely applied any pressure. It almost felt like someone was creepily stroking my leg. My hand massage stopped at my wrists and lasted a whopping 20seconds. 4) The polish application was terrible! You can clearly see where the second coat went (as you can see in the pic). Overall, these ladies need to slow down!!! Never going back! Read Less

I would not recommend the East Bay Nail Spa. I have been there three times (so, I have given them a chance) and I have found that the staff is far from professional. Recently, I took my husband so we could both relax and get pedicures. The gal working on me had a VERY LOUD conversation with another staff member regarding her MENOPAUSAL symptoms, among other inappropriate subjects. After reading the many wonderful reviews of East Bay I decided to get my nails done while on vacation in Charleston, and unfortunately am very disappointed. I regularly get gel manicures but am trying to give my nails a little break so I just went for the regular old mani...Well my manicurist did not even acknowledge my presence, just continued her phone conversation on her headphones, not even a "hello" when she hung up near the end of my appointment. She was very rushed a did a sloppy job which she did go back and clean most of it up but still left 2 spots of polish on my skin that I asked her to remove. When she was done she simply pointed over towards the drying area as I struggled to manage my bags with my wet nails. And to top it off they're all chipped within 24 hours :(I did notice she was a little more friendly to the girl she was giving a pedicure to after me, maybe cause she wasn't interrupting her conversation I'm not sure... Definitely going back. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi a few days before and still ended up having to wait for about 20 minutes. That, coupled with the half-assed foot exfoliation was kind of disappointing. However my finished nails were very well done and lasted a while without chipping. Which is a miracle given how much I do doing the day.The nail tech was very nice and experienced. She let me read my book with hardly any interruption, and followed what colors I wanted on what toes perfectly. She also made sure I was comfortable temperature wise and helped me out with the massage chair.
