The stylist did not listen to a word I said. I showed her four different photos of the exact same cut, exact same color, and exact same style. She did something completely different and gave me an awful, dated, basic highlighted bob after I specifically said I hated the look of traditional highlights. I left hoping that washing and styling it myself would make me think it wasn’t that bad, but it’s still pretty bad and I will be going somewhere else to darken it. Complete waste of money. Read Less

Very happy with my experience here. I had Taleen for root touch ups from blonde to platinum, and she went above and beyond to match my color properly. I was also in and out in less than an hour and a half, compared to two to three hours for the same treatment at other salons. Heather is a very patient and friendly hairdresser who does a magnificent job. She listens to your concerns and desires for a haircut. She gives an excellent cut, especially when going from long hair to short hair. She gives fine hair extra body by the way she cuts, and the haircuts grow out fantastically over extended periods of time. My 8 year old enjoys going to this salon as well, and she adores the fact they have a little dog in the waiting area. The salon is excellent at working with your scheduling needs. Read Less

My nails have been a wreck (rough on them) & by nature practical over primp  - sadly hid my hands in my office when someone came in b/c they were a mess (holiday glitter-cement debacle:). professional manicures have been inconvenient -sitting and drying for 15 minutes, lasts for a few days & chipping - but the walk-in nail shops when you need a quick fix for an event - were convenient- but dreaded & mostly did a better job myself. Then Impulse Salon moved into the Arcade in Providence.  Loved the concept of gel polish (lasts two weeks- dries in 2 minutes) but invariably heard that it destroys your nails so once you use the gel you have to keep using it.  Turns out gel manicures are Great for your nails & the bad reputation comes from the pop-up nail shops buying cheap chemical products from China that adhere to your nail- leaving them weak & peeling!  Gina at Impulse is wonderful, funny,pleasant, down to earth & very reasonable.  I've been going every two weeks for over a month now & my nails have never looked better.  So glad I found this Providence gem.  :)) Read Less

Nice salon inside The Arcade. I went in for a blowout and a style. Joe did my hair and it looked fabulous! Joe was super friendly and he did a great job with the styling. I was so impressed, no flat iron needed! They use Moroccan Oil products, my hair felt healthy and looked shiny and smooth. At the front desk they offered me a coffee and took my jacket. They also had holiday fudge and candy canes. They also had this amazing gadget that you swept the hair into and it vacuumed it up! Fancy! Read Less

I did color in the store and Tal helped me to do the colors. I first went from Asian black hair to ash brown. And second time I went there to do from brown color to ash blonde. It is a great place. They provide a quality environment where it is clean and people who work there are nice. For children they put out lollipops, and John, the owner, brings his nice dog Kacie, who is behaved, and will be friendly to you. I own a dog who is the same kind of dog as Kacie. Most of the local barbers have been in Providence for years and they must be used to cutting the same people's hairs and not accustomed to new customers. My hair was almost always uneven with certain spots longer than others and not clean all around.After month of searching and searching for someone to properly cut my hair the way I want, I've found the place. John, owner, cut my hair and I asked him to try out a new style for me. I told him the lengths of the sides and top and then he gave his input. I came out with a fresh cut and a sharp split (which I've never tried before). I've only received compliments about the new style and I'm definitely sticking to this cut from now on. As for the facility, compared to the other barbers I've been to, Impulse is much more modern, sleek and clean. There's even a waiting area with elegant seats, a keurig machine, water filter, and even a receptionist. Overall it is an aesthetically pleasing place to be in. Kristina cut my hair yesterday.  My appointment was scheduled for 4:15 pm and my I was taken back to the chair around 4:20 pm.  The salon was clean but very busy around this time of day, with a good mix of females and gentlemen getting their hair cut.The location is extremely convenient if you work in Down City.  The pricing was average. I have been going to impulse for a few years now. John the owner is very nice, and his adorable little dog Cassie (hope I spelled that correctly) is so sweet, soft and always stops by to 'say hello'.  Fran the receptionist is delightful-I can't say enough nice things about her!There is a kuerig in the wait area for customers and a selection of tea and coffee as well as a water cooler. If you want a soda just ask-they are in the fridge. The selection of reading materials is large and they now have hair product for sale at reasonable rates.I have had my acrylic nails done here by Gina who really does beautiful work! I find my lifestyle is too hard on the acrylics which would come off. Aside from that if you want some fun on your nails give her a try.I am a client of Caitlin who has been doing my hair since before she moved to Impulse. When I started all those years ago I was going grey and had a mundane cut. After years of seeing Caitlins beautiful hair styles and colors I have changed the color and cut and no one believes my (real) age! She works with me when I need to be professional or have a formal event and when I want to add a little, or a lot, of color. If I bring a photo of a color (pale blue comes to mind) she'll match it beautifully. If I bring a photo of a cut she will tell me honestly how that cut will work with the shape of my face. You got to go see Caitlin!  She's amazing.  I've never left not in love with my hair!  She does great blondes & killer extensions too.  You will sit down, be entertained by her hilariousness and suddenly the appointment will be done and you'll be freaking out at how amazing your hair looks.   I wanted "Fembot" once and she literally had me looking like I walked out of Dr. Evil's lair.  This gal is your last stylist because you'll never leave her!The salon itself is clean, modern and stylish.  They also have tanning, nails & waxing.  I don't tan and I've never tried getting my nails done but Cait has waxed my eyebrows and I've been pleased!
