Apathetic and charmless. I was so disappointed with my blow dry (which had gone up by $10 between booking and paying). It wasn't what I wanted because I was never asked what I wanted. I went to Rob Michael salon with a very specific photo of bleach blonde balayage highlights, and asked for a simple trim--I have been growing it out from shoulder length. I ended up with color barely visible, and unprofessional paint lines in my hair-- I have done better highlights at home--not to mention, it did not resemble the style I requested from the photo. **Do not go here if you have thick hair!! I have thick hair and the stylist would not stop commenting on the amount of hair. She clearly was not comfortable with cutting thick hair, and instead of thinning it she lobbed four inches off the top layer, and I am left with not only uneven layers, but a shelf of hair that makes it appear I am wearing cheap splotchy blond extensions underneath. Knowing from the initial consultation that I was growing my hair out, she cut at least three months of hair growth. I am very disappointed in this experience, especially since the salon charged me upwards of $250 for providing me nothing I requested. I do not recommend patronizing this establishment. Read Less

I came to get a minx pedicure with Crystal and am absolutely in love!!! This was my first experience with Minx and it far exceeded my expectations!!!  Everything is immaculately clean and Crystal was very mindful of me being a diabetic and taking the proper precautions! Came in without high expectations just wanted to try something new.  I was more than pleasantly surprised.  Our nail tech was very knowledgeable about not only her product but about foot care in general.  The pedi came out awesome and I'd love to stop in again when I'm in town!  Crystal was fabulous! Almost perfect! We went for manis/pedis & facials. Manis/PedisIris did a great job with everything including massaging our hands but is not the greatest when it comes to painting nails or leaving you with a smooth "heel." Nail polish remover was also her best friend because of all the mistakes she kept making.  On another note, wonderful woman with a great personality. Very warm & personable, just probably better with hair (which I don't know for sure because I didn't get my hair done). FacialAndrea was AMAZING!! We got the Vitamin C facial and almost fell asleep. She was soft to the touch, yet got the job done. She also massaged our shoulders, neck, arms & feet! What a treat! Read Less

My sister got married in Newport RI this past weekend and selected the Rob Michael Salon to do our hair and makeup.  We had a very positive experience and want to recommend the salon to other people.  The salon location is in a very centrally located, easy to get to place with lots of (free!) parking!  Our appointments started at 8:30 in the morning and the whole wedding party, plus moms all got hair and makeup (so a lot of people).  From a timing perspective, everything ran very smoothly and we were all ready on time.  Not to mention we looked fantastic!  My sister, the bride, is notoriously picky so I thought going in to the day that she wasn't going to like the outcome.  She had a trial at another place before selecting this salon and wasn't happy with the results.  So needless to say on Saturday I had a little anxiety going into the appointment.  But she loved the results so much that the only things I heard her say all day were positive things!  Her hair looked amazing (she has a ton of hair, and it's very difficult and time consuming to do) but they were pros and did an amazing job!  All of the bridesmaids were also very happy with our hair...and we're a tough bunch to please!  My mom, the mother of the bride, did not initially like her hair but that wasn't the fault of the salon - she has very short hair and she was just hoping to make it look different from what it does every day and when she saw the outcome of what she initially asked for, she felt it looked too plain.  I spoke with the owner, and they immediately re-did her hair (and were very patient with her) and in the end, she was very happy with how it turned out.  As for the makeup, we all felt like super models when we left.  We looked amazing in the pictures, but none of us looked or felt like we had too much makeup on.  I think if we could all look like that every day, we gladly would!  As for the atmosphere, we were made to feel really special.  We had snacks and mimosas while getting ready, which helped set the tone for the day!  Lastly the salon itself is very nice and new looking, and all of the stylists seemed to really know what they were doing.And as a random extra, I'm a nursing mother so during all of the craziness of the day, I needed someplace private to go so I could pump - The owner was so nice, and accommodating and kindly made space for me to go some where private.  So to sum up, if you are a bride getting married in Newport, I highly recommend the Rob Michael Salon for your hair and make up!  We had a great experience and would definitely do it again!
