The first two times I visited Star Nails, I was really impressed. It is the only nail salon nearby that offers a back massage and paraffin hand treatment during a manicure, and that was a huge plus for me! I was excited to have finally found a clean and nice place to get my nails done regularly (I'd been scouting out a place to take my bridesmaids the get our nails done for my October wedding). Upon my third visit, though, I decided to opt for a gel manicure about two minutes into my manicure (he was just prepping my hands & nails at that point). I asked the man doing my manicure if it was too late to switch from regular polish to gel and he paused to consider, then said no it wasn't. My manicure looked great, and I was perfectly happy, until the gel polish started literally peeling off in huge pieces from the bottom of my nail bed about 5 days after my manicure. I was unsatisfied because I'd gotten a gel manicure at other nail places before, and never, ever, has it chipped or peeled, at all. I figured I would just go into the salon and ask them to fix it. I didn't get to go back in until about a week and a half after the manicure (about 3 or 4 days after the manicure started peeling off), due to my work schedule being weird hours and the salon not being open when I could go. When I finally did go in and speak with the manager (he may have been the owner, I didn't get a chance to ask) I explained what happened during the manicure (me changing my mind and how I thought it might have been the problem) and he informed me, with attitude, that because it had already been over a week, he couldn't fix my nails, especially because he didn't know "what I do for work" that may have caused the problem. I'm a librarian--I literally sit at my desk, type on a computer and help people locate books. Nothing that has ever caused my nails to chip in the past. I explained this to him. I also showed him my frequent user card with the date of manicure written on it (and initialed by the manicurist). He gave me attitude the entire time, from the moment I explained my problem (and I was really nice from the very beginning--I don't believe in being mean or rude to people, it's never going to get me anywhere and it's just unnecessary). I was really shocked by how rude and dismissive he was of the issue. Their policy is clearly not "the customer is always right" or anything along those lines whatsoever. All I wanted was any type of resolution, I was flexible--fix the nails, give me a free or discounted manicure next time, give me my money back... anything. Even an apologetic or sympathetic attitude would've been nice. He finally said all he could do would be to remove what was left of the manicure (about half of the gel polish was off, and on other nails, it was badly chipping and peeling), so I said yes, please. He was visibly annoyed and angry as he removed my manicure, and at the end he left all the dust and shavings all over my hands, my nails were left dry, damaged and disgusting... no lotion, none of the usual treatment when salons remove gel manicures for you. I was appalled. Needless to say, I'll never go back. They've lost my business for good. I'm so disappointed! Read Less
