I'm giving two stars for location, cleanliness and the fact that my nails hardly ever lift. Unfortunately none of that matters when the people that work there are not just unfriendly but downright rude. There's only one friendly person there-Kathy-everyone else barely acknowledges you're alive until it's payment/tip time then they actually speak to you and look up at you. I've always loved cosmo nails, been going here for a year now. although I always make appointments, there have been times I've gone in and asked for a gel pedicure as well and they have accommodated me.(even though they were super busy). The pedicures are done really well and the gel polish from my last one has lasted over 3 weeks now. They do a great job with the manicures as well, and the polish is always applied perfectly even. No all techs, if they really are techs, are not the same. My experiences have been up and down. Today was very disappointing starting from the receptionist..did not make me feel very welcome. The same with the girl that did my pedicure...no personality. I put the chair back where I was comfortable, she moved it up again.. I moved it back...who's supposed to be comfortable, the client or the technician?? Then right of the bat she cut me..thank God I wasn't bleeding, after that I felt like she just rushed me right along. On the other hand the time before I had Cathy, very pleasant, and she did a great job. If I go back I'll be sure to ask for her. Read Less

I used to go wherever could take me as a walk in but now I only go to cosmo nails. I don't request anyone specific as I have had both gel manis and pedis from all of the techs and they all do a fabulous job. I definitely  recommend making an appt because so many people are regular customers now they are usually  always busy.  I have recommended cosmo nails to many people and everyone who has gone has had a great experience. My friend and I were looking for a gel manicure in the area. Walked in without an appointment for manicures and they were very accommodating from the start! The woman at the front desk was nice, welcoming , and helpful when we asked about the different manicures. We decided on gel manicures, and our techs were great! One of the quicker gel manicures I've ever got. The salon itself was nice both inside and out. I'd give it 5 stars though I must say hearing a few of the staff talk about another customer while on the floor made us a little uncomfortable - other than that great experience! Read Less

I have never been so disappointed with a nail salon before. First of all I called to book with a specific person (who is the same person who answered the phone) and she booked me with someone else. I didn't know this until I arrived and a different nail tech greeted me and I'm not an asshole so I gave her a shot. One week later and my nails are snapping off left and right and I have to basically remove them all and go elsewhere for another full set. My biggest issue is why the hell would you have someone else do my nails when I specifically booked with you? I would never do that to one of my clients it makes zero sense. All set Read Less

The person doing my nails was nice. But when I got there to get my nails done they asked me to pay and tip first because they were closing out the register (an hour before closing time posted). When cutting my cuticles back they cut up my toes and nails so bad they started bleeding and they've been swollen for 2 days now. Did the same to my cousins nails. I won't be going back. Disappointing.  It had been about two years since I went to Cosmo and always had a good mani and pedi, but I returned and it wasn't good at all.  The technicians in general were not friendly, mine in particular was miserable.  She rushed my manicure , seemed to get upset when I told her I didn't want to wash my hands after the terrible hand massage she gave me and the nail polish she used had streaks and she didn't seem to care.  I won't bother returning.  Too bad, it used to be a pleasant experience. I came to this nail salon when it first opened I followed the new owner Christine there because frankly she's the best. I stopped going because I decided to give my nails a break which I do every couple of year. Upon returning I still found the salon to be very clean, with friendly techs even the new ones, still good prices. I've tried a lot of the techs there until I found the one I felt was the best fit for me. Now I see just her, I get the gel fill with gel polish I can and have gone 3 weeks in between fills & not once has the polish chipped or peeled. I love walking into Cosmo nails & the stuff saying hi to you by name I always feel at home there. During the many different holidays I put Christine to the test by bringing in my pictures of what I hope she can do for me. She's never failed she takes her time she'll start from scratch again if she don't nail it. To me this nail salon is top notch all day, everyday. PS: Yes there is a little American white girl at the reception desk, she also has different color hair from time to time & not once in all the time I've been going there have I ever heard her be rude to anyone as reported in other reviews. Great service.My friend and I went for pedicures and were really glad we did! This place is clean and very nice inside. It works well with the high class shopping clients of Chapel Hill!They had lots of colors to choose from and the pedicure chairs were comfortable. It was a great experience for a pretty good price! I called for an appointment for pedis for my wife and I just a little before 10am, and they said they had availability at 11am. Great! We got there around 10:55, and we're in chairs at 10:58. I thought it was a great start cuz it was my first time going there and it was recommended. However, a woman begins working on my wife's feet, and I sat with my feet soaking for 25 minutes before I was even looked at! My wife was done long before me. Now I wouldn't have cared if they were short staffed or busy, but they took other people before they took me.. even though I had an appointment. The girl working on my feet was rude and rushed. Then told me that my toes would be dry by the time two cycles go through on the drier. Guess what? They got ruined when I walked out the door. Will not be going back! Read Less

Worst service and unsanitary conditions. Not sure how people allow the techs to use those big brushes that harbor bacteria - it is just nasty. LOVELY place. I go there all the time to get my nails done... Shellac about every two weeks, sometimes 3 to 3 and a half because it lasts so long. The salon is always so neat and clean and just about everyone who works there is great... I don't care for alyssa because she made like 3 of my fingers bleed one time... I had a pedi one week ago before a trip at cosmo nails, as I had many other times here before. The staff is nice enough. However after 2 days of being away the polish came right off of my toes. I contacted Christine the owner once I returned home .I told her I was unsatisfied with the pedi and would like to have another one( after all it did cost $30 plus a $6 tip so i would it expect to get a little more mileage out of it.) she told me to come in and they would pick a different color because perhaps the color I picked out didn't work on my toes???? Thats a first. So i went in, picked a different color, and got another pedi. I went to the register clearly expecting it to be at least half off or on the house since they did such a bad job one week prior. Christine was at the desk and said $30 please!! I was SHOCKED and APPALLED! I handed her money and needed change. She rifled through her large Louis Vuitton bag to get me my change. I tipped the girl $6 who did my pedi. I then told Christine that I had just given her $36 last week for a pedi ad because of the lack of customer service I would not be returning. She looked up at me and smiled while saying "OK". If you like to take pay money to take your own gel nail polish off, have your manicurist get up every 1 minute to tend to the phone or incoming customers, or pt money for a crappy gel nail polish color, go there. This place is awful. They are money hungry and rude. All staff members. RUDE. Don't even bother setting up an appointment. You're better off walking in. Even when I called for an appointment, I waited an hour. I hope this place goes out of business Bc they are stealing people's money from their awful customer service.
