My wife and I have been using Platinum Salon & Spa for several years now. It is a very quality spa in Westmoreland County. Every employee there is a trained and certified expert in his/her field. Most recently, I had Denise for a Signature Massage. I gave her a 1-minute overview of my feeling, and she was an excellent listener. She focused where I needed and still did every thing else. She made every effort to set a serine environment, with dim lights and low music. It was an excellent experience. The rest of the day, I had Emily who provided an excellent facial, and Signature manicures and pedicures. Like Denise, Emily heard my needs and picked appropriate products, ,and she provided a sample for my eyes. I've had both Emily and Heidi for manicures and pedicures, and they are both excellent. You rightfully get the feeling that they picked everything out specifically for you. They are always asking how it is going so that they can make mid-stream adjustments. When my day was over, I was rejuvenated and ready for life again. I would highly recommend the 3 ladies described here. These folks are well-trained and continue their education constantly. Their service is impeccable, and this is a 5-star staff all-around. The front desk staff is excellent. I've never had a hard time making appointments or paying. They are responsive to email and phone. The building itself though has some deficiencies that the staff can't control. For example, it is on the north-bound 119 in Youngwood, and the passing trucks can be noisy. Insulating the walls would go a long way towards lowering the distractions in the service rooms. The rooms for massage or facials are rather small. That necessitates the use of more narrow tables. When you are 6ft tall like I, the narrow tables make positioning of arms a challenge. Lastly, when one is there for a long day, it would be nice to have a "serenity" room for between services. That way one would not need to go in the salon area between services. I LOVE this place!!! I go weekly for massage therapy and the employees are magnificent!!!! I've had 5 different therapist total and they are all equally amazing with deep tissue massages!! I would recommend to anyone who needs a massage!! Ask for the heated stones also!!!! They have a very awesome and generous owner and a grade A staff that works in all departments here!! I had an unexpected day off. I called and they were able to fit me in without any hesitation! Bree did a phenomenal job! I had not had a massage in over 2 years and the last one was when I was pregnant. The hot stones were amazing and she tended to the many knots that were across my entire back! I feel so rejuvenated and refreshed!!! I'll go back again and try another massage for sure! I'm thinking the couple massage for my husband and I in the near future! The only thing upscale about this salon is their prices. I was part of a bridal party, we went the day before the wedding for the brides hair and makeup trial. The bride left in tears because her hair was a mess, her curls weren't sprayed then the hairstylist brushed them out. She asked the make-up artist for no black or grey and apparently they thought that they knew better. She left with black eyeliner and a gold face. Luckily she switched to a different hair stylist and make up artist for the next day and was happier with her results for the day of. She also wanted her nails done, but was given an attitude because the polish they were taking off wasn't Shellac. She ended up painting her own nails at home. I had a gel manicure done the day before the wedding. $45 for a manicure I wouldn't have paid $5 for. My left hands nails are all at an angle, the polish doesn't go down to the cuticle or cover the whole nail and they were chipping by the next day. My hair up do was a disaster, looked nothing like the picture I showed her. She put about 75 bobby pins in my hair and it looks like a rats nest. My make up was only ok, the eye liner wasn't applied well and she seemed surprised when I asked her to line the whole upper lid. I have a lot more to say but I don't want to waste anymore time. My advice for this salon is to keep the girls doing what they are good at. If they specialize in make-up don't let them do manicures. Also a little more of a personality would go a long way. I used to be a client of Platinum for about 16 years; however, due to the rudeness of the front desk -- I will not be back.  Each time I call the salon they claim to want to provide "outstanding service", yet they are normally curt, unhelpful and recently have been condescending and mocking!I made the mistake of booking my bridal party at the salon and had spent about an hour working with the stylists to get the correct bridesmaids with the correct stylists and in the correct order.  The front desk took it upon themselves to change everyone's order and their stylists.  I was less than impressed with some of the hair results and most of the makeup.  As were the bridesmaids.  It's quite upsetting when you have to go back to the house in order to attempt to fix what some of the "professionals" had done.Candy used to be in the salon but appears to be an absentee owner anymore that allows her front desk staff to provide terrible service and leave a bad taste In Clients mouth about the salon.  I do not recommend the salon anymore. Wow! What a find! The atmosphere is great and the folks that work there are so friendly and accommodating.  My mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and I went there for a "girls day" and couldn't have had more fun. The staff was very professional, and balanced keeping it quiet so we could relax and joining in conversations to create a very welcoming atmosphere. I really love this place.  I have gotten a massage here and loved it. The atmosphere is very calming and relaxing.  I took my sister in law in for a mani and I got a pedicure, both were excellent.  I get my hair done by Stacey and she is great.  I come out looking MUCH better.  She does just a great job really listening to what I want and then makes it look better than I would've thought possible. Went to have gel polish done for the first time rather than at a basic regular nail salon throughout the greensburg area. Already had gel polish on, was charged $16 to have gel polish removed in addition to the $45 for the service. No water was used for my manicure, nails weren't cleaned under, only cuticles were cut in a hurry because salon was closing soon. So my entire process was rushed, gel polish was at the end of the bottle nail tech did not care about that. The next day I cleaned my home four nails already chipped. The following day gel polish began to bubble up more nails chipped all but about two. Destroyed some of my nails , when gel polish isn't done properly and peels on its own it causes the nail to become damaged. Overall for the amount of money paid ( which I am all for supporting local small businesses) I was displeased not satisfied and my nails are basically destroyed and now nubs due to how the service was performed. Next time, I will stick to going to a nail salon where the cost is cut in half and my nails are properly attended to and where my nails can sustain the shellac don't bust and peel and have growth and are healthy and strong. Don't recommend for gel polish at all. Unless you want to pay $61 for poorly done gel service, go to a basic nail salon or do it yourself . Read Less

Worse salon I've ever been to. The website is misleading to the point of false advertising. Do not go by the prices posted. My simple hair color and trim along with the most inexpensive pedicure came to $220.00. The colorist missed a whole section and instead of reapplying she tried to cut it out. My request for layers were interpreted as using edge of scissors all through my hair like a razor cut. It is a frizzy mess. And the owner apparently is too cool to say hello or even look at you. I arrived the recommended 30 mins before my appointment...and sat in the waiting room since my attendent didn't even start work till 12 noon which was my appt time...this is much more of a salon than a "spa" I was expecting a nice massage, maybe a steam room...at least a shower after the application of massage oils....not the case, I was expected to just put my clothes back on my very oily skin...the massage attendent did do a good job. Was in Latrobe and wanted a spa day. This was a short drive away, so I got a massage and body treatment.At first was concerned that the neighborhood looked a little sketchy, but the decor and ambiance inside were peaceful, lovely and relaxing. The entire staff was courteous and professional, and I got one of the best massages I ever had, from a nice young lady named Bree. Susan Albert did the salt scrub body treatment, and it was super relaxing, and afterward my skin was amazingly soft and smooth.Very nice job, ladies! Read Less
