I feel that for a place that advertises as a spa it does NOT present that way. Television is tacky, nail bar makes you feel like a number - next.... the girl that work there are nice enough but the atmosphere in general is flat. However, my nails did look lovely. Yesterday was my daughter’s first manicure along side me while I got a gel manicure. Both Amy and Linda went above and beyond. They made my daughter feel special- taking her picture, getting her a drink, etc. They were patient and kind while doing a beautiful job on our nails. I had spent a lot more money on microblading somewhere else and it was an awful job. It didn't even look like hair strokes. It looked penciled on. When a looked into having it corrected, I went and had a consult with Tien and she was great. She was able to correct my eyebrows with the Microblading and they look awesome. I will not go anywhere else for my gel manicures! Not only is the salon super clean and free of harsh nail smells, everyone there has been great. But now I exclusively make appts with Ashley, as she is my favorite by far! She always makes great suggestions for colors and is patient with me while I slowly choose one and whenever she does my gels, they hold up amazingly well that I could easily extend to 3 weeks between appts. I got my brows microbladed by Tien about a year ago and I cannot stop recommending it to friends, coworkers, neighbors, strangers, etc. Before getting them done, I was always that person that couldn't leave the house with filling them in. After years of plucking and waxing through different "brow fads", mines were light, sparse, and thin. As soon as I learned of the service, I immediately knew I was probably the perfect candidate. I had a consultation with Tien and she walke...d me through the steps of the procedure and the before and after care. The day of, Tien sketched my brows with a pencil and showed me to see if I liked the shape. Of course I loved them. She numbed my brows and after about 30 minutes, she begun. I honestly didn't feel a thing. A little pressure, but it was so quick! I was shocked honestly at how easy it was. When I looked in the mirror, my brows were perfect! It appeared like I had so much hair, color, and the shape was seamless! Something that I had been trying to achieve for years! It's been a year and I've had 1 touch up since and I can still see the hair strokes she did. The shape is still exactly as she did it a year ago! I love working with Tien because she takes her time with each client until you are 110% satisfied. She genuinely wants you to look and feel amazing! I have been getting my lashes and nails done for years. Recently, my lash girl moved to Denver so I started visiting Tien at Zazen to have my lashes done. She does a fantastic job, and they last longer than my lashes used to last. I also got my first manicure done by another sweet girl that works at Zazen (West Chester) and she did such an amazing job. It is more expensive than other salons for a gel mainicure, but it's definitely worth it because they apply the gel perfectly, not too thick, so it doesn't peel off. Tien also microbladed my eyebrows and they look amazing. Getting ready is so quick and easy when you have your eyebrows and lashes done!! I should also mention that everyone that works there is incredibly nice and helpful and they really do care about their clients happiness. I wish I had gone to Zazen years ago! Read Less

I had microblading done for the first time in January at the West Chester location. I had done a lot of research before booking and at the time, this was the only salon in the area offering the service. I arrived early for my first appointment and waited for over 20 minutes because another client's massage went over their blocked appointment time. I was nervous for the appointment, so I tried making conversation and asking questions to the staff. They were rude and acted like I was bothering them. When it was finally my turn, I showed the worker pictures of the shape I wanted my brows to be. She told me the shape was too full and filled in what she felt was best. It was difficult to book a follow up appointment as the staff made me feel that they could not accommodate my schedule. I work a Monday-Friday schedule and can't skip work to have my brows done. When I finally came back, I felt rushed and again did not get the shape I requested. When my brows finally healed, I tried to make another appointment because they are still patchy and require me to fill in with makeup, which pretty much defeats the purpose of spending $500 in the first place. I again was met with a miserably rude staff who could not schedule any appointment for me. I am now going to the Brow Bar in West Chester to have my original microblading retouched, reshaped and fixed. Read Less

Tien is one of the best lash stylist in the Chester/Delaware County area. Her salons are chic and the customer service is awesome. I refuse to go anywhere else. Tien will do her best to accommodate me and my schedule. Her assistant, Ronnie, at the West Chester location is great as well as her front desk person, Anita at the Bryn Mawr location. Went one time to get acrylics removed--they did say it was not their specialty--but the girl filed through both of my pinky nails causing them to bleed and were so weak they broke off half way down my nail bed. I got my eyebrows tinted at the same time and they turned out great. I figured since they said it wasn't their specialty and the girl was nice, I would give it a second shot and got my brows and upper lip waxed and brows tinted. My eyebrows are uneven in color and shape. One fades in and the other one is darker and more boxy. Each look great, but would look better if they matched after paying $37 plus tip. I started off going to this nail salon because I lived right across the street. I now live almost 30 minutes away and I will still only come here! I will not let anyone else wax my eyebrows besides them. The atmosphere is so nice and the girls are always very welcoming and friendly. Definitely a nice spot for a bridal party or group event too! I went to Zazen for the first time yesterday and got a full set of volume eyelash extensions by Tien. I went in knowing I wanted a little longer and a a little more volume than the typical lash extension. I told her the look I was going for beforehand and she did exactly what I had hoped for, they're beautiful! Tien was friendly and professional, and she made sure that I was comfortable throughout. I had a ton of questions about application and aftercare and she didn't seem to mind me asking so many questions. Brand new to West Chester and was looking for a place to get my brows down one afternoon. Amy did a good job on my brows, and I would give her 5 stars, but I was really discouraged with the service of the receptionist. Being new to the area, I wasn't familiar with the parking situation and when I asked on the phone where was best to park, she said, "it's just street parking." I was hoping for a "I would recommend parking on ____ street or ____ street, but it's metered, so anywhere around this area." Or something a little more helpful. As well, the service was mediocre when I arrived and left. I wasn't expecting a big hoopla, but something a little more than "what's your name?" And "your service was $13". I didn't feel like she did a good job selling the salon or wanting me to return. So, I like Amy, don't love the service as a whole. I just moved to the area and I was looking for a nail place to call my own. I stumbled across Zazen, based on Yelp reviews, and was immediately hooked. It exuded everything that I love about nail salons back home in Atlanta. It looked sophisticated, clean, and people raved about the customer service. I was excited when I made my appointment. I'm setting this all up because I need y'all to know that I really really wanted to like Zazen and I simply did not. As I stated before I'm brand new to this area; this one way street with limited parking enviroment is not something I am accustomed to. I called and let them know that I was figuring out where to park. I asked where the best place to park would be and the young girl on the phone said, " We have street parking. Hurry up." And so began my experience with Zazen. I walked in determined not to let the curt tone of the receptionist deter me from a relaxing nail experience. She showed me to my seat and gave me the nail colors. When she brought my tea I asked her if there was a nude color with pink undertones that she could recommend. She responded curtly (again, she's so great at that) that my nail tech would be here soon and tell me. Okay, so it was clear this girl wasn't going to be my buddy and I should drop the southern hospitality. My nail tech, Rosa, was so great. She was super nice and gentle with my nails. She entertained my indecisiveness with the nail colors and made sure I liked the color when she appied it to the first finger. I appreciated that. It really is the little things that cement good customer service for me. She gave me a hand massage which was just divine and I felt as though she took good care of my nails and hands. When I went up to pay with my card I added that I wanted to put a tip on the receipt and sharply told that tips were only accepted in cash. I reiterated that I would like to tip my wonderful nail tech and the curt receptionist obliged. Just a note: if someone is new to the salon there's a good chance that they have no idea Zazen only accepts cash tips. So an attiude at the invisible inconvenice of having to tip off of a card is completely uneccessary. Unfortunately, my issues with Zazen go beyond the young rude receptionist. The gel job I got done quickly deteriorated. I have a busy lifestyle which is why I always get gels done. These, however, were just not up to par. My nails chipped in two days. That doesn't even happen to me with shellac or a regular polish! Also, the color was cheap. It adopted a green hue and when I asked another manicurist about this (I immediately went somewhere else to get those wretched things off) she informed me that this happens with polish of poor quality that is put under UV light. I'm not fond of shelling out money for poor quality things. Other people came here and lucked out with the polish or weren't subjected to rude employees and seemed to have a wonderful experience. That's great! However, I came here and experienced medicore quality in service and polish. Is Zazen worth trying again? Is a second time the charm? No, not at all. Read Less
