I feel that I need to write a review after reading all of the awful reviews posted here. I got a basic pedicure here last week and was very impressed. I had seen the bad reviews, but I had a gift certificate and this salon was convenient. I had a wonderful experience. I called ahead and made an appointment, arrived on time and was seen right away. Everyone was very friendly from the receptionist to the nail tech. My nails were shaped very nicely, not too long and not too short. The polish looks even and clean with no bubbles or smudges. The price was pretty standard for a basic pedicure and I will definitely go back. Read Less

Came here from it of town just wanted a pedicure. Never been to a nail place where u pay before they finish the service. I though maybe it was because out was about 30 minutes before close. Then this lady cones in behind me and gets a pedicure.... I noticed she wasn't asked to pay. So I guess I looked like I couldn't afford it. The guy that did them was nice but service was horrible. I wanted to get a manicure and this is just down the street from my office, so I gave this salon a try. I was taken right away. They have a nice selection of nail polish colors. The manicure was very thorough and I even got a little back massage during it. The cost was only $15, which I think is a really nice price. The only downside is that you cannot tip on the card and I very rarely carry cash. I'll definitely be back again! Read Less

Probably the WORST manicure I've ever gotten.  Take your money someplace else!Convinced me (for the sake of protecting my nails) into a gel "powder" manicure. I asked at least 5 times how it's different than GEL... some half mumbled answers.She should have warned that' it's SLOPPY, powder everywhere...end result ? I could have done a better job myself. Oh! And no cuticle push, no hand cream... and nothing to alert me that  I needed to sit in front of a fan for 15 min.  Nothing like a A GEL! It's a terrible place. I used to leave this place happy when I walked out the door after paying. These last few times I've been here, I've gotten some bad service. I asked to get acrylic nails and every time they drill my nail beds they cut my skin and it bleeds. No apology, discount, no nothing. The next day, my nail polish is already chipping off and one nail already fell off. I came back so they could fix it, and now they repainted it a color that is WAY off the color of my other nails. Listen to the reviews. This place is bad. I only came here because I was already at Trader Joe's anyways. The pedicure - the older woman who did my pedicure was sloppy. Polish all over my toes that I had to direct her to wipe off. It makes me cringe to tell someone how to do their job, but at the prices of this place you would expect some better service. She barely scrubbed my foot which I had paid extra for. This wasn't a basic pedicure, y'all. I had to touch the rough spots on my heels (my love of stilettos is dangerous) and show her that it wasn't done. The mani - this man who did my manicure was so proud when he was finished. He did a GEL MANICURE in 15 minutes. You know who does it that fast? Mr. Miyagi and a bad technician. They just can't be done that quickly. The polish pools in corners, dries heavy, and ends up looking chunky instead of thin and streamlined. Yeah, I'm particular about a good gel polish because they're costly - and when done right - last much longer than simple polish. So I was critical. I nitpicked. Sue me. He rewarded that by not helping me pick my bags or shoes up as I made my way to the dryer and choosing to help some other woman. AND THAT'S FINE. That woman must have loved her mediocre nails and I firmly believing in helping those who clearly cannot help themselves. Oh and they only accept cash tips, but there's no sign to indicate that. I came here after being told I had to wait somewhere else for 2 hours even after making an appointment. Now I specified at least 2 times that I wanted ACRILIC nails. They just painted my nails for 14$.... I wouldn't have minded if that's what I wanted. But it wasn't. After I figured out they didn't listen to me I just let them finish and got out of there. It's very rude not to listen to what the customer wants. If you go here, make sure you're getting what you want. I've been to this place a couple of times. I usually only go here because my fiancée works in the same shopping center. Their gel color selection sucks, they're rude, and don't really do that well of a job. I took my own polish that I had paid for, and the girl had a problem, AND overcharged me. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a nail salon. The technician didn't wear shoes and had on a filthy shirt. She didn't buff my nails and when I asked why, she started speaking rudely in her language to the other technicians, who in turn spoke back to her in their native language while looking directly at me. So appallingly rude! Because she didn't buff the nail there are tiny bumps under the glopped on nail polish. I had to sit under the dryer for 5 cycles to get them even the least bit dry.While I was waiting for my nails to dry, another customer was complaining to another technician about how he painted each of her hands a different color. His response, "that's what it's supposed to look like." The woman tapped me on the shoulder and asked me if they were two different colors. I said, "yes they are and that I would never again return to this place." At that moment another technician said, "It's none of your business!" I said, "she made it my business and you people are the worst!" I don't understand how anyone would ever go to this place. It's awful! Unbelievably rude staff and it's dirty! The woman painting my nails didn't wear shoes! On what planet is that okay. Stay away! There are so many other establishments with nice and professional staff that do a good job. I use to work in the shopping center where they are located . Nice, close by and reasonable  I've gone in recently and hate how they've changed. They have a receptionist who looks like she rather be anywhere except there. The girl who did my eyebrows was in a foul mood and it showed . I went here about 6 months ago to get my nails done because it was close and I wanted a mani pedi. The woman scraped my nail polish off with a nail filer because she didnt feel like taking it off with nail polish remover. She damaged my nails in the process and left huge scratch marks and she also scratched my skin with the filer and it was very painful. And she didnt even bother to put two coats of polish on and it looked awful. I decided to give it another chance and I went today to get my nails done with friends. The man who did my nails made my cuticles bleed while cutting my cuticles and he also scratched my nails with it and he even peeled off layers of my nails with it. My cuticles are very sore now and Im worried my nails are gonna be weak because he peeled off layers of it. Read Less

By far the WORST nails experience ever! My nails were chipping by the next day! The service wasn't good and they were not helpful to any of us! 3 of us went and all will never return! I would not give a star at all but that isn't possible on this app. I would give them a negative 100! I had to go get another manicure somewhere else because of how terrible theirs was! A total waste of money! Go anywhere except here! Also, they could not do a half moon at the top of my nail to do the nails the way I wanted them..I didn't know it was called half moon but it's basically a reverse French manicure. It is rare for me to give a 1 star review but, frankly, I am aggravated.A good friend of mine & I decided to go for manicures on July 3 (The Thursday before a BIG holiday weekend.)After deciding not to go to another neaby salon which was packed (overbooked) and could not see us for about 40 minutes, we took a gamble and came into Gateway Nails."Oh, this looks nice!" I exclaimed as we entered.  A tall blond receptionist hastily asked what we wanted and brusquely informed us that they were very busy (as we expected - and as we could see)  We decided to wait, and I took my time browsing the Gel, Vinylux and traditional polish colors.  Since a manicure is $14 plus there is a $5 soak-off fee, i figured i'd just get a gel - since that is what I usually get.  Gel mani's are $30 here. I wanted to ask about the Vinyluxx - but the lady was so hurried and rude and barked at me to "Wait a minute".She really was unpleasant.So my friend and I left.i really don't think I'll ever go back.We were prepared to spend good money there, too.It's a shame.  She lost 2 potential clients. Great selection of colors, they really take time with your pedicure and they use hot stones as part of the pedi. Bonus - they rub your shoulders while your nails dry! You pay a couple dollars more than other salons in the same class but the facilities are nicer, clean and the service are worth the bump of $2 bucks from standard. Read Less

My 14 year old daughter and her friend went in to get their nails done and were taken advantage of because of their age. The woman scraped off the old nail polish with a nail file and only put on one coat of new polish when she paid for two coats. My daughter was telling the woman she was hurting her and she just continued ignoring her. My wife went in to complain and just got alot of double-talk. We won't be going back, its really ridiculous that such a simple task can't be completed properly and that they would take advantage of children. Read Less

So I am not the person that cares whether you speak in a language that is most comfortable to you that may be other than English. But this is the first time I have ever felt like I was being talked about. It first started when the woman doing my toes looked over to her coworker, proceeded to talk in a language I am not fluent in, and the coworker looks dead at me and talks back. I let this go. Well, the lady that is doing my toes gets up to get a tool and begins conversation with another coworker on the other end. I look up to find her staring at me! It was so uncomfortable that I asked if there was anything I said or did wrong and was puzzled as to why these women were looking at me. The lady doing my toes says nervously, "Oh no, oh no!"Won't ever be back and I suggest you do the same. There are WAY too many nails shops to frequent this one. I uploaded my photo of my wedding nails done by Emmy 4/30/14.  She does an awesome job and she's so sweet.  Some of the other tech's are hit or miss but overall Gateway does a nice job.  The facility is clean and relaxing and fairly priced.The wedding nails were $$$ ($50) because Emmy recommended pink and white as opposed to paint- which I'm so glad I got done because aside from growing out- they look exactly the same today.  Normally I go for french a la nail polish ($35) but this was worth the expense for my big day.
