The experience was nice overall. Our nail techs Thomasine and Addy were friendly. The music was unique and fun. The atmosphere is bright and fresh.  I discovered this spot on Walnut St through an online search. This spot is located on the 2nd floor, up one flight of stairs. My sister and I enjoyed the atmosphere of this space. We were offered beverages when we sat down and I had a delightful herbal tea with honey. The oversized chairs were comfortable with a moveable pedicure tub for our feet. My pedicure was average. I would have liked more attention to be made at scrubbing the callouses on my feet. A mud mask was applied on my feet and legs which had a cooling effect. It felt nice for a few minutes but then I began to feel cold. A warm towel wrap over it might have been a good addition. I also suggested a warm neck wrap would be another step above average for future customers. My biggest disappointment is that the nail polish didn't cover my nails all the way. Also after wearing flip flops on for 4 hours to allow the polish to cure/dry, the polish still smudged by the end of the evening.I would consider visiting again and overall enjoyed my experience. Made an unexpected nail appointment. I was accommodated and welcome after showing up late (so gracious). My nail technician was very kind. It became apparent that she was not professionally trained and/or the technician did not have professional training. I got powder dip nails for the first time today. I have never had any kind of acrylics on my nails at all. I'm sure you need to get used to the feel of them, but I do feel like my nails are WAY thicker than they need to be. If you look at them from the side some are very thick and 2 not too much. I have seen online tutorials of this process and have never seen them dip more than twice. Mine were dipped 3-4 times and they just seem really think and inflexible. All of my nails are different thicknesses, and that's what I don't like. There were 3 nails with jagged edges I had to file after I got home and noticed them. I like the idea of this, but I'm not sure if they were made too thick or it's just me. The salon was nice and clean, and everyone there was very pleasant. I would not get these again unless someone else did them and made sure they were thinner and even and not running over the edge of my nail. Read Less

I got the AEY signature pedicure with gel ($60) and after seeing the nails of the girl next to me, decided to get the dipping powder with tips ($50). Aleshka did both the pedicure and my nails, and she did a FANTASTIC job on both. She's a very meticulous and focused worker, and she was very accommodating when I decided to get my nails done last minute. It was my first time getting the powder nails, and I'll definitely be coming back as it seems like a great, less damaging alternative to acrylics that other places in Pittsburgh don't even offer. The salon is very clean and quiet. All of the girls are super friendly, and the free cup of coffee was a nice touch to my experience. I totally recommend AEY nail bar to everyone! Came here for a gel manicure and was extremely disappointed in the quality. The gel "manicure" is $39 (or $45 with tip).First issue: there was never any manicure experience - it was basically just filing and a polish change. There wasn't even a water dish to soak my hands in or any lotion applied afterwards. I would be okay with this if I only had to pay $20 or so, but I paid more than double that.Second issue: I made an appointment for 2 pm and checked in 15 minutes early, but my manicure didn't begin until 2:20 (20 minutes late). There is no waiting room.Third issue: the manicure itself is the worst gel manicure I've ever had. There are bubbles everywhere, sloppy polish application that got stuck to my skin, cotton ball particles stuck in the polish, and a very poor filing job that has left each of my nails a different, asymmetrical shape.Hopefully this review helps someone to save time and money by looking for a gel manicure elsewhere. I came here based on other Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint!! I had Aleshka and she did the dipping powder with tips. This is one of the few salons in the area I've found that do the dipping powder. I have found my new go to salon! Aleshka was awesome!!!! The attention to detail was phenomenal and the end result was the best I've ever had. The salon is very fresh, nice, and clean! All of the ladies working today were very nice and personable too...very nicely run business!! I will be scheduling an appointment in 3 weeks and may just have to add in a pedicure as a treat! I just moved to Pittsburgh and have pretty high expectations when it comes to my manicures- I want the polish to go edge to edge, even all the way around, smooth, and on top of all that I want it to be fairly quick. Well, I wasn't disappointed- AEY delivered! I've gotten a gel manicure twice now and both times I've been extremely impressed. Their prices are great- I love that they offer an inexpensive option without frills for just a trim and polish change, and then offer two packages above that for when you want to be pampered more. I had such a great experience here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even when our party showed up 20 minutes late because of unforeseen traffic. Get your man nails on your hands and feet done here. Have your nails trimmed, cuticles cleaned, and your nails buffed and shined. The ladies are very attentive and perform quality work. I was a first time customer, however, it appeared returning customers are taken care of even more... I saw some getting a neck and shoulder massage during their service! I've been a customer here ,and I'm amazed at some of the reviews I'm reading. I have always had nothing but great service from them. They are exceptional at their work. They will take about 1 hour for one customer , but they can be quick if I request ,and my nails can last more than 4 weeks.Personally, I don't mind getting in and out quickly as my schedule is always so busy as long as the quality of the service it up to par and it ALWAYS is here. I got a shellac French mani and regular spa pedi. Both turned out great. Shellac mani lasts over 3 weeks out and may nails still look pretty good! I can see it's grown out, but the nail polish is still on well enough and not peeling so that I haven't gone nuts and picked it all off. This place just kinda what you'd expect at a nail shop.
