I recently saw the ad that LA Nails had new owners. After realizing it was right down the road from my house and their nail art was super cool, I stopped in with my mom yesterday to treat her for a birthday manicure and I got a full set. Everyone here is so friendly! My mom really enjoyed her nail tech (I didnt catch her name) and Vue who did my nails is AAAAMAZING. she’s so funny! not to mention her attention to detail and nail art is outta this world! she did them exactly how I asked, and they’re perfect! I came in on a whim because I saw a FaceBook ad that the shop was under new ownership and there was a grand opening sale going on. I am never one to turn down a sale, and I had a long day at work, so I went to treat myself. I'm glad I did! The owner ended up working on my nails, which made me feel very comfortable to begin with. I had a picture of the design I wanted and he recreated it perfectly. Usually I'm shy to go to nail salons by myself, because I'm afraid nobody will ...talk to me. There was fun conversation between myself and the owner, but everyone working was friendly and chatted with me at least once. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming--nobody made me feel out of place even though I was the last customer of the night. The pricing was also very reasonable with the discount, and I received an extra cost off for being a first time customer on the good graces of the owner. Thanks so much to everyone in the shop! I don't understand why people have rated this place so low. I walked in and was seen straight away. The pedicure (a cheap $25) was super thorough and included hot stone massaging. I would kill for a pedi like this in NYC where I live. Maybe Philly residents have higher standards but I'll definitely be back again. Read Less

First time ever Wednesday, 12/23. I called first thing in the morning for an 11:15 appointment. Arrived less than 10 mins before my appointment and was told I made my appointment later than what I scheduled it for. They claimed I scheduled for 12:15. Though I know I made the appointment for the right time, and they could have recoded wrong. I realize they are busy, and mistakes happen. What's disappointing is that on no level did they admit hey we're wrong and further made me feel bad about arriving at he time I scheduled for! The gel manicure was done without water, and he products used for base, color, and top coat were not all from the same product line. My $30 gel mani lasted TWO DAYS. The top coat and color layers peeled on half of my nails. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I won't be going back. Read Less

I've been going to Gomo for almost a year, and the service is excellent. They give you more than an average nail salon, and the exposed brick is a nice look being that it's in the city. On M-W you can get pedicures for $25, and time permitting, you get a brief shoulder massage after your manicure. Many women on the staff have been there for years, and there are generally 4-5 technicians there for handle walk-ins. I would recommend an appointment, as they get quite busy. Read Less

I went to Gomo's to get gel nails for my wedding two weeks ago. After paying $100, I did not think my ""gel"" nails looked that natural or felt all that great. When I went to get them taken off at the Red Lane Spa on my honeymoon, I was told that what I really had was cheap (and damaging) acrylic powder with just one thin layer of gel on top. Apparently, real gel nails take more skill and time to do and the gel material costs much more than acrylic powder. I am really disappointed that Gomo's lied to me like that and cheated me out of $100 right before my wedding. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! Read Less

I LOVE Gomo nails! It's right around the corner from my office and I go there religiously every week for my french manicure!! Ann is the ABSOLUTE BEST. After a rough week of work she eases my tension with a fantastic hand massage. I keep telling her that she's going to put me to sleep one of these times.
