I used to have extremely damaged hair after choosing less qualified places but  Artur, Jonny and Christie have  definitely helped me recover from that. Artur's salon and staff are consistently the most professional and of the highest quality in Philadelphia. Philip did my highlights and haircut, and his work is fantastic. He is very precise and did an amazing job. I received so many compliments on how good my color came out. The staff at the salon are super friendly and the space is very comfortable. I have been going to Studio CL, now known as Artur Kirsh for 4 years. I'm extremely disappointed with my most recent experience when I paid $300 to get highlights and a cut from the same stylist I always go to - Kristie. Not only had 3 other color appointments been scheduled for the same time as me, she was quite rude and did a horrible job. I literally had giant streaks of blonde on my hair when I had specifically asked for fine highlights to go with my complexion. Kristie only put the color in a rush, without really paying attention to how she was doing it and then was nowhere to be seen. She didn't even come and check how my color was turning out and had her assistant do everything after she applied the color in minutes. She was there at the end to give me a pathetic haircut, totally having ruined my hair. After I went home and saw my hair, I called the salon and asked them to fix it. After some resistance at their end, I was told that first there would be a consultation and then some minor fixes could be done ONLY to the front of my hair. When I went back, there was no consultation. Kristie came to fix my hair with a rather rude attitude with two of the assistants constantly looking my way and sneering in the back. She asked me to tell her which strands to fix in the front, not accepting to how she had bleached my entire hair and put in giant locks of blonde. She applied only 2-3 streaks of low lights and I was told I wouldn't be given a blow-out either. Mind you, all my hair on the sides and the back still had giant blonde highlights on my naturally brown hair, looking absolutely awful. After seeing how they could ridicule a customer who had spent 1000's of dollars at their salon over the years, I was left feeling  extremely upset and disappointed for days because I thought I had a good relationship with these people. Its been a few months now and whenever I look at my hair, I get so upset cause I paid $300 for this and that too deal with such rude, attitude filled people who have absolutely no respect for customers who have been going to them for years. Its really sad to see that no matter what you pay nowadays, places like these are all about  money and then their attitude just tops it all off - like they are better than you lol. Like why am I paying so much money and getting such shit treatment in return? I never write yelp reviews and I had been thinking about this for a while now and I thought people should know before choosing high-end places thinking that they will be so great - but they really aren't. I'm SO disappointed with the service. I came to do highlights, but instead got my hair dyed. My friend called to reserve an appointment for both of us but apparently they took it for 1 person only. The hair stylist didn't even blowdry my hair after all the dyeing, toning and washing, I had to do it myself, because she had other customers coming in for their appointments. And througout the process she kept telling negatively how dry my hair is, as if i don't know that. But i came there for a reason, to do highlights with a professional. I wish i never came! Now thanks to them I hate my hair, i regret trying something new, and most ceratinly will never come back! I must say, it wasn't my first time visiting and I really loved my haircuts done by the same person. I don't know what happened, if she had a bad mood or what but she didn't listen to me. I've been having my hair cut and highlighted by Thom for 15 years (longest relationship I've had!!) and he does a wonderful job - especially with the highlights and color. Effie fives the  best brow wax, hands down. Maybe because I always go to these two and have been for years, I never have a problem getting an appointment, even on the same day. Juliette is the best esthetician I have ever met and now works at Bellevue. I have been to many salons in NYC and Philadelphia and none compare to her work. Great attention to detail with waxing. Barb is a foil color genius!  I have never encountered a stylist so extremely good at highlights/lowlights. I have been to salons all over the US and have never experienced the quality that I have with Barb. Blonde with beige lowlights no problem!  Do yourself a favor - go see her for that next color job. As an occasional indulgence, i will find myself here for a pedicure or other spa treatment.   While the prices are a bit above-market, you feel like you are taking a respite from your worldly cares when you are here, and that experience is priceless (even if it is relatively short-lived). The best pedicure I ever had was here because the manicurist understood reflexology.  Waves of calm rushed over me as she massaged my feet.  It was bliss. The management encourages their stylists and it shows through with everyone's customer service.  The stylists are supported through an environment of education, including options to go to globally recognized Institute's for training.  You can have Parisian perfection right here in Philly. The stylists will also educate you on how best to maintain your look, style, and color.  I have never had a more customized and engaging hair styling experience.   Oh, that's why you use that product?  Oh, that's why that product is priced differently?  Oh, you have a question... here is an intelligent, informed answer.    It's awesome. I have been going here (well, the Phoenix) for a few years on and off. Full disclosure: I am a bit of a hair slut and color commitment-phobe. It pains me to spend money on a haircut and color, so I often do the Groupon thing. But I then end up back here with my tail between my legs, like a spouse that has been out cheating. They do a great job. I usually see Merita. There was one time my color did not come out well. I asked for to be a bit redder and it was like RED. Ronald McDonald red. I hate complaining about that stuff and I am pretty easy-going but I was in a wedding the next weekend.  The salon was so nice when I came back and helped fix it for free and didn't make me feel like a jerk.It is a bit pricey, but not outrageous.  It can also get pretty busy on the weekends, so if you can make an appointment for Monday - Wednesday you are in and out a bit faster.
