I had the pleasure of booking a massage appointment at BC last Saturday morning to soothe my aching back and shoulders from a morning of splitting and stacking wood at my vacation home. Having traveled the world and receiving massage therapy in several exotic locations, I was initially skeptical. The establishment, tucked away on top a small hill off a sleepy Pocono thoroughfare was not at all what I as expecting. The lobby was clean and bright and bustling at right after opening at 10AM. The staff was attentive and friendly and immediately directed me upstairs to Laura, the massage therapist. Despite the lack of a steam/sauna room (which I normally like to partake of before a massage), overall, the dimly lit room was organized and relaxing with a pleasant decor and smelled of essential oils, lavender and citrus with perhaps a hint of mint. In the center of the room sat a large padded and heated massage table. The therapist directed me to disrobe in the adjacent bathroom, which included a stand up shower, and to lay down on the massage table under a few layers of crisp fresh linens and then left the room. On her return, Laura made me feel relaxed, explaining the journey on which we were about to embark. As I mentioned, I have had literally dozens of massages from Swedish to therapeutic and deep tissue massages overlooking ocean cliffs in Maui. Given the sad state of my sacroiliac, I needed some immediate relief, and relief I received. Laura was friendly, jovial, and meticulous in execution of her craft. Her technique was par excellence, better than even the Four Seasons Spa. She took time to relax my mind with a gentle yet effective scalp massage, and then methodically moved to my extremities. She was masterful in her application of reflexology, taking special care of feet and hands to stimulate pressure points and relieve tension and pain elsewhere in my aching anatomy. She gave a little narration on how she acquired her skills and where she studied the art that she has apparently mastered. After flipping over onto my stomach, she continued onto my core and my sore shoulders, neck and back which had already started feeling better thanks to the various pressure points she had affected. She began to work in earnest on my upper back, at times it felt as of there were 4 hands upon my aching shoulders. She used her entire forearms and hands, applying pressure and climbing onto a small stool at times for additional leverage. Her hands seemed to gravitate intuitively to ever sore spot without direction. By the end of our ninety minutes (which went by far too quickly), I was relaxed, pain free and whole again. Laura offered me several glasses of cool water and explained that I should remain hydrated to lush the toxin out of my body that are typically released by massage.Overall, I would say the experience at Beauty Creations was far and away the best overall massage I have ever had and I would recommend, no encourage, anyone who wants to know what true relaxation feels like to forgo the more expensive mainstream spas and store franchise massage chains and get yee to Beauty Creations for a Massage by Laura.
