I’d give this place 0 stars if that was an option. I’ve been here twice and I wasn’t told the price til my nails were drying and the technician kept demanding to be paid right in the moment of my nails DRYING! Both occasions I’ve been here I’ve had that happened with two different technicians. The first time I came to this nail salon there was a price board and the second there wasn’t and when i asked how much the total would be it definitely seemed like they raised their price from the last time. The technicians I had didn’t speak a word to me , seemed like they were miserable and didn’t want to be doing THEIR JOB. I noticed around me that they are all rude and pushy about the money. I’m suprised they’ve been open for a couple years. I’ve met other people that has had a similar experience with their rudeness and eagerness to be paid and get you out of their sight. My nails both times didn’t even last more than a week they were poorly done and not painted perfectly I had my sides of my nails missing polish and didn’t notice til I left and got a good look at it since I wasn’t asked right then and there if it looked good I just trusted they would but was disappointed shortly after. I’ve definitely found a better place. I will say there is one guy in there that is nice only problem is he watches tv more than he does paying attention to his costumer. The women definitely need an attitude adjustment and need to learn to be more caring and polite. Especially if you want customers to come back. The price you pay is not worth it if you end up getting a miserable technician that gives you the vibe of not wanting to do your nails for you or the way you want because both times for me when I told them what I wanted they said “no this more better for nail.” Or “I do this way because it better “ NO HOW ABOUT YOU DO THE WAY YOU’RE ASKED IF YOURE GETTING PAYED FOR IT & especially if it’s not YOUR NAILS being done? I’m not asking for your opinion I’m asking if you can do what I want for MY NAILS. It’s a neat shop with a lot of colors but the workers suck. Sorry to say. Good luck to the future of this business. There are many nail salons in this area and I’m sure they aren’t the worst. But they aren’t worth it to me and a couple of friends that have warned me about this place. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you all get an attitude adjustment and learn how to be polite and caring and not sloppy about your work this would be a great nail salon. Ridiculously over priced and they took their prices down so BEWARE! They over charge. And you’ll be in there for almost 2 hrs because they’re too slow. And everyone in there is RUDE & MISERABLE. I asked a technician if she could do a simple natural nail look with acrylics. Showed her a picture & without hesitation got a “No we don’t do that!” First of all, you’re a NAIL TECHNICIAN & you can’t do a simple French acrylic manicure? So I told her “okay that’s fine I’ll look for something else and I’ll let you know when I find something. I was not in the mood to drive somewhere else. After I sat down I hear her tell another nail person something in their language immediately after I sat down and they start laughing. When I found something she didn’t even say okay she just put me in a chair and had me wait until someone came over. Rudest person I’ve ever met. Definitely won’t be going there again. And if you choose to go avoid the short chubby old lady with long black hair. That’s the unprofessional I had to deal with. The vibe in there is also depressing because they all look unhappy and miserable. The men are pushy and rude which I heard how they would talk to the women next to me. All they care about is getting the money. They’re all rude and snobby. And this is actually the second time I’ve experienced this place. They also like to pay attention to their tv whenever they get a chance. I have gone to this place twice, the first time the work was decent but the technician never said one word to me and all the workers seem unhappy to be there. I thought maybe everyone was having a bad day. Went back yesterday and got a gel fill, the technician cut me 4 different times because he was so ruff. He also only spoke to me when it came time to pay the bill. His work was very sloppy, which I wish I would have noticed while there but I ran out because I was late for an appt. I got my nails done across town randomly with my bff and in one day half the acrylic fell off. I came here and they were so nice and clean . Had a great atmosphere , and fixed my nails the best she could but to me she did awesome. The tech even warned me not to get a French tip or it would show the fill line. I would give it a -1 if I could and here are the reasons why... Aside from it being dirty, unfriendly, and requesting cash only tip... 1) I called ahead and still had to wait 20 minutes2) Then I was greeted by an older man who just came back in from a smoke break3) He wreaked of cigarettes, had an infected eye, a phlegmy cough, and dirty long nails4) I should have left right away5) I sat through the rough filing of my old gel, all the while watching crust coming from underneath his fingernails 6) He then put the foil and cotton, waited a few minutes and then roughly pulled them off7) I sat through the gel manicure, watched him scratch his scalp and then pick the dandruff out of his nails before I got up, washed my hands twice, paid and then immediately poured rubbing alcohol all of my hands as soon as I got back to my car.I had to take a hot shower when I got home to feel slightly better about my repulsive experience. Nice people and I have gone here many times but I walked out today. Made an appointment and was told 2:30 was fine but when I showed up, it was clear that 2:30 was not fine.  Looked like a convention.  I waited 30 minutes and then walked out.  My advice is not to rely on this place as they will always book you an appointment at the requested time but having an appointment means nothing.  If you are walking by and they aren't busy, by all means walk in but just don't rely on an appointment or you will be disappointed. I would just like to take a minute to share how pleased I am with Sky Nails. Today was my second time there, and Angie did a fabulous job, once again. She's kind, pays close attention to detail and goes above and beyond. I have acrylic nails with a gel polish. Iv been to many places over the years and I'm so thrilled there's one close to home that I'm happy to go to. They have such a variety of colors both gel and original to fit anyone's choice. Every time I've ever went, I always got a full set of acrylic nails. The first time I got black stilettos with a crescent moon and the guy doing them was incredible in his shaping and design skills. He messed up the moon but was willing to fix it, but he was really polite about it. All in all I really like their salon since they're polite but they also don't try to make small talk. My husband, daughter, and myself were walk- ins for pedicures. The three of us were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival. I know NOT TO GO DURING BUSY HOURS bc just like ANY OTHER BUSINESS, it will be really busy during peak hours. My daughter's feet look awesome, my feet look awesome, and my husband's feet look awesome. The detail on my daughter's toes were hand painted by the tech. They look really good.... I had an incredibly wonderful experience here today. I honestly cannot fathom why there have been so many negative reviews for this place aside from the others simply being impatient, non-understanding, and just entitled. Here's my experience:I arrived at 11:30am as a first time walk-in looking to have a full set done. I waited approximately 10 minutes before Jim kindly took me to his booth and immediately set to work. He is the first person I've ever had who was so gentle and utterly thorough with me. He was so friendly and gave me the space to decide whether I wanted to chat with him or keep to myself. He didn't ask any mindless questions just to get me talking. Yet he was very open and friendly with me when I felt like chatting with him. He was so much nicer than any other person I've ever had at any other location.  He was very friendly and honest with the other clients who walked in or who had appointments. We even eventually talked about the negative reviews he has on here and it was obvious that it bothered him because he knows how important it is to provide a good service but when he's down one person or a client with an appointment decides they want more services done than what was originally scheduled or if he gets slammed with a ton of walk-ins, there's honestly not much he can do about getting behind schedule. And not many people seem to understand or accept that. It made me feel pretty badly for him since that's exactly the situation I had found him in. And was determined to leave an honest, legit review in their defense. Yes I'm sure some people have had a poor experience but much of it is out of their control and I feel it's unfair. Especially when it comes to Jim himself. He's an amazing technician and business owner who has a calm sweet demeanor about him - and who truly wants to provide the best service to his clients. So if you are reading this review, please keep the things I've said in mind. And also ask to see Jim if he's available because I promise you, you won't feel the need to leave any negative reviews and may actually feel the need the leave a positive one like I am now. Please give these guys a chance - you won't regret it. Plus their location is absolutely beautiful inside with a great relaxing color scheme and updated booths and polishes. Nothing horrible at all from my perspective. But I'm serious as of the time I write this and as a new client I would recommend this place to anyone. Oh and I actually ran into a lady as soon as I left who was also a first time client who pulled me aside to ask me how they were inside and after hearing what I said and seeing how beautiful my nails were she decided to go in and try it out herself (even after knowing they were a bit behind schedule). I watched the door when I got back to my car only a few feet away to see if she would leave and she never did - so what I said and showed her mixed with how lovely it is inside must've been impressive enough. I will not be returning. I tried one last time, gave one more chance only to be disappointed again. The convenience of being 5 minutes away from my home is not worth my time nor money. There are so many new faces and the quality of work has gone from a hidden gem to a disaster. I came home to trying to clean off the clear coat and some color off my skin. In the morning, I was cleaning gel out from underneath my nail. A simple gel manicure is not that difficult but this was a mess.  Not to mention they leave people just siting in a pedicure chair -held captive while they are waiting for their gel manicure/foils  to be taken off.  I have seen this numerous times and was caught in it once. I was a frequent, local customer of this nail salon but will not be returning. I walked in at 10 am to be told to come back at 11 am (because I didn't have an appointment). I arrived back at 11, then sat in the pedicure chair for 45 minutes in cold water and when I asked a few times "how much longer?" they kept telling me "a few more minutes". My mom and I went here for the first time to get a pedicure. We are a big fan of the nail salon in the Walmart in State College. This one was not as good (charged extra $10 for the paraffin dip) but the services were great. The staff was polite and friendly and the nail colors were what you would expect at a regular salon (all OPI nail colors). The atmosphere is relaxing and the temperature of the water was adjusted to how I would like it. The salon was clean and fairly busy on the day we went. We would definitely go again in the future. Went in for a pedicure the other day and was very impressed! They have changed store locations and the place looks much better because of it. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff are very accommodating and make sure everything is to your liking, from the temperature of the water to the choice in nail and skin products. I have gone to Nails 2000 exclusively over the past 6 years, and got an amazing mani-pedi for prom a few years ago!
