Just got my gel nail polish done and love the color. The front desk manager picked the color for me. He asked what I want and polished my nails to see how the different color shown on my nail. I came for the first time for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I normally don't care for having my nails done simultaneously with my pedicure but today, I was in a rush and didn't mind getting out sooner. I went here with a friend to kick off the first day of our vacation. We were getting pedicures and manicures and brought a bottle of wine and some cheese/crackers. We were looking forward to a leisurely experience. That is not at all what we got. They insisted on doing the manicure at the same time as the pedicure. So forget drinking wine. Forget having a warm conversation - there were 4 people crowded around with pillows on our laps so that nails and hands were done together. I asked if this is how they always do it and was told "Yes, because we are always busy and this is so much faster". I looked around and saw that 2/3 of the stations were empty. It was 4:30 and the shop closed at 7. There was NO reason for us to be rushed like this. Hard to focus on how good a pedicure is with a gel lamp balanced on my lap. I actually went home angry with myself for not insisting on doing the treatments separately. But I was trying to create some kind of "warmth" with my partner in a very "un-warm" situation and opted to make the best of it. We really did not talk about our trip, enjoy the wine, and experience the pampering together I spoke to the manager on the way out and he said "next time tell us you want them separately". To me, we were first time customers, and they should have asked us how we wanted to do it (I have gone to other places, and never had it done like this before) They should not have said "this is how we do it to save time". And one last thing - they make you pay first. That just added to the "in and out" feeling. He said that it's because people's nails are wet (pedicure and gels?). Beautiful place, clean place, but when your customer's come in with wine and ask to sit together ...it's pretty clear this is not a "rush them out" kind of visit. We will not be back. By far my favorite nail place in the area.  I actually drive a bit to get there because I love it so much.  The manager is super friendly and always remembers everyone.  The prices are great and they almost always give a long massage- my favorite part.  The place is very clean and relaxing.  I just wish it were closer! I went here for a gel manicure before a vacation. I had no problem with the service while there, however my nails started chipping and peeling three days after I had the gel manicure. I don't know why I continue to let time go by and give this place multiple chances. I always find myself irritated and disappointed. The male who I believe is the owner is quick to give an attitude (on more than one occasion), the employees are nice, but often rush through the services. I just find that the service does not hold up to the image they are trying to portray. They have a nice looking salon, but the service is mediocre. The last and final time I was there the male wanted to charge $15 for gel removal because it was from another salon... They soak your finger nails in acetone while you get a pedicure to remove... really... I'm not paying $15 for that. I will gladly pay top dollar for my services, but I'm not getting ripped off with an attitude. I decided to stay however, and go with a pedicure only, but even the pedicure was a disappointment. They are always very accomodating, even if I get there close to closing due to working late occasionally. I sometimes have a hard time getting the shape of my nails right at other places and they get it right every time. My favorite is that you can get a spa mani & pedi for only $60 and it's very clean. Came here at the last minute needing a manicure for an event later that evening. The salon looks pretty basic, but still nice and clean. I didn't have an appointment but did not have to wait on a Saturday afternoon. I just got the basic manicure. I went to pick out my polish and they have a great selection of colors with a lot of the popular brands like Essie. I ended up picking a red shimmery color. The manicurist did a very good job and it did not feel rushed. It was only $14 which I thought was very reasonable. While you're waiting for your nails to dry they offer you a complimentary massage(just don't forget to tip the guy if you do it). He did a wonderful job and it felt amazing. Moved into neighborhood so thought I'd try it based on reviews. Sure having a French refill at same time as pedicure felt like pampering, but during the week and at 545 when they close at 7 they rushed. No back rubs or even chair massage. The prices were very high. No cuticle trimmed and when I asked- on hands with the gel refill I got a blank look even tho it was pretty obvious. Nice job however- until 2 days later when my fingernail split.  Came back following Saturday for repair and was not treated well, crappy repair job- had a massage which was very mediocre.Next refill I asked for color and while nice job on the nails the polish chipped the day after it was done.  I specifically asked them to put the gel coat on top- obviously not( I was reading- big mistake). I haven't been here in a while, but can say I will not be returning.The water to soak my feet was cold. They warned it up when I asked but then it went downhill...I spoke up when they started cutting my toe nails - they really only needed to be filed, but they cut them painfully short.I'm not sure if she was ignoring me or was too busy trying to get the water set up for the customer in the chair beside me, but continued as if I hadn't said anything. I had to abruptly put an end to my pedicure when they cut my toe!Normally this is concerning, even in the cleanest salon (it's always seemed clean here), but I'm pregnant and need to be extra cautious.The woman working on my pedicure immediately got cash to refund me, but never even bothered apologize. 4/26 I went to get a manicure and pedicure with my friend.  The cost was 84.00, and the service was slightly rushed.  As soon as it was closing time everything came to a abrupt end.  We paid before so all there was left to do was tip.  When I handed the girl $20.00 for my friend and I she looked at the other girl and said, "That's for everyone?"  I felt so uncomfortable I gave her another $5 to ease the situation.  She came back 30 seconds later to let me know my nails were dry (clear coat) interrupting my conversation with my friend and basically telling me to leave.  I am so disappointing with this experience it really ruined the whole experience.  I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN! I hate that I can't find a consistently good place to get my nails done in the 'burbs!I decided to try out Princess, having already tried Charming Nails, which is a few doors down. Charming was pretty good, but still not the stellar experience I was looking for. Well, just from my rating, you probably have some idea of where this is going...Good stuff:-Open Sunday-They took me right away as a walk-in-The lady who did my nails was extremely nice and spoke perfect English (not that I particularly care, but it does make it easier to communicate what I like my nails to look like)-$30 for gel maniNot-so-good stuff:-They don't put that stuff on your nails before doing the cuticle clean-up...and I think there were some other steps of the manicure missing, too.-They have a good selection of colors, but some are CND Shellac (like the one I chose), and I'm pretty sure they're not licensed to do Shellac specifically; hence...-The lady let me know at the end that the mani should last 2 weeks. If it doesn't, I should come back so they can fix it. On the surface, this is very good customer service. However, I've had enough well-done gel manis to know that if they're done correctly, they will not chip or get damaged AT ALL for 2 weeks, so this caveat should not even be necessary. Things that make you go...hmmmmm.-No massage while your nails dry (I know, I know, I'm spoiled by Young's in the city where you get a damn good manicure and an equally great massage!)-Not long after, I realized that she really didn't do a very thorough job on my nails. There were uneven edges and it just didn't look as nice as it has when I've gone to other places.So overall, not a terrible experience, However, when I was there, something occurred that made me seriously debate not coming back. There was a customer who was really dissatisfied with her nails because they were done sloppily, and the technician was apparently rude and just walked away when she expressed her displeasure with her nails. One of the other ladies tried to smooth it over, and they eventually got someone else to redo her nails, but it was just a very awkward situation. My technician explained that the owners are away, so sometimes certain employees think they can just do a crappy job and get away with it. She said it in such a way like "oh well, that's life." Though my technician was nice and did an OK job, I'd be weary of returning in case I got one of the other ones who didn't care at all. All things considered, I probably won't be back. Read Less

Value is EXCELLENT as this average-priced salon. Prices are comprable to other salons in the area. The setting is very peaceful, as the nail technicians do not speak at all when they are working on you. Spa pedicure is complete with hot stone massage, warm towels, foot rub and nail painting. They use OPI products mostly, and I have not tried it, but they do have an "organic" manicure/pedicure option.Once you are finished, go sit and let your nails dry and you will have a 5-minute massage on your back and upper arms that is free - tipping is recommended - and wonderful. At first I found the prices a bit high (I had a french mani/pedi for $62).  Upon leaving, I felt so pampered and relaxed that the price was no longer an issue.My manicure and pedicure were done simultaneously, which forced me to forgo reading for class while in the pedi chair and definitely helped me relax.  I felt so pampered!  The added of bonus of  arm/hand and leg/foot massages was great, but the hot stone leg massage was the icing on the cake.  Or so I thought!  While drying, I was given a neck and shoulder massage that was the perfect end.  This salon is really clean, spacious, and the ambiance is understated and soothing.  It was a welcome change from most Center City area McNail Salons.  I'll definitely return! It is entirely possible that I am over-rating this salon, given that the polish application was slightly imperfect and I would have liked more thorough exfoliation.  (I think the devices that work best for me may have been banned, because I never see them anymore.)  Still, the amount of massage you get here for a $28 pedicure is outstanding. I saw John, and the foot and calf massage he provided were fantastic.  Nearly as good (and much more unusual) was the upper back and neck massage provided by another employee during drying.I should also add that the ambiance is nice.  It's not one of those places with the local news playing on a big screen TV.  There was just a little soft music, and, as another reviewer said, the salon is spacious. Very solid experience here. Quick and efficient mani/pedi on a work lunch break always helps the day go by pleasantly. They were able to do the pedicure and nail file/paint on my fingernails at the same time. It's also a very spacious and open salon which is nice because you don't get the stinky toxic smell (you remember that time you COULD HAVE fainted). It's fresh in here. This place is great! It is clean, friendly and such a relaxing experience. I went in for a pedicure ($25). It included foot and calf massage with and without hot stones. I didn't think to wear flip flops (silly me), but it didn't matter, because they keep brand new flip flops in a drawer for customers like me. For $39 I got a mani-pedi that included a hot stone massage on my legs and a very relaxing massage on my arms and hands. This place is very clean and they really do have all the latest polishes for Essie and Opi. The technicians were friendly. I do like the idea of their frequent customer card, you can get 1 free manicure after 20 visits. Also while I was drying my nails I received a complimentary back massage. This place is the best.
