Omg where to start! Long story short I have very very thick hair and everyone was playing the i don’t want her game! So some lady had to do my hair and she was so mad about it: Okay my request was I want almost all my hair off maybe to my shoulders because it was hitting my butt and I wanted to go brunette. So I tell her cut my hair first then color it and she said no! Well keep in mind I have so much hair and she said every container is like $40 well if you cut my hair I wil...l only need 2X well this idiot did not want to and she color my hair and used 6-7x containers then she went to wash my hair and was mad that the brush wouldn’t go down my hair “well no duh! You didn’t apply conditioner or shampoo you just got it wet!” How do you even have a license to do hair! I was so mad she keep trying and try to brush my hair I was seriously crying on my hair because she had a stainless steel brush omg it hurt so bad i knew I was bleeding a little because i can feel the scalp burning. I am not kidding you when I say there where other girls sitting next to me just looking at me cry! And worst of all the manager didn’t do anything! Then when we had to go paid she wanted a tip omg I paid without tip but I was so mad. New to the area and was in desperate need of a new do! I love Aveda products so Bella Vita was a no brainer for me. The fact that I could get an appointment the next day was a bonus! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was greeted with a smile and offered a cup of delicious herbal tea:) Within 5 min of walking in the door I met my stylist Timothy and he walked me back to his chair. We had great communication about the style I was looking to achieve. I felt like he listened to what I was asking for and as a result I got a great haircut! He was also very informative about some of the products that would work well for my needs. The staff was very friendly but honestly I could have gone to a Asian owned nail place and gotten the same quality mani and pedi for half the price. Plus the shellac was 10$ extra on an already expensive pedicure. I told my boyfriend if he wants to get me certificates for this stuff again to go to Modern Nails. Read Less

This is only a reflection on the customer service I just received. The last two weeks I have been struggling with severe back pain/ muscle tension. Since today is my birthday; I took the day off from work. I went to my chiropractor to get adjusted and to help my adjustment stay I booked a massage via phone call around 5pm (9/29/16). When I arrived to check in; the young women I spoke to on the phone had mistakenly booked me for a pedicure. I had been looking forward to this all day; just severely disappointed. The women behind the front desk admitted that it was her that I spoke to on the phone yesterday, and tried to offer me an appointment for tomorrow, but I already have other plans. I woke up on my 30th birthday realizing that I hadn't had my hair trimmed in the year and a half since my son was born, I was still struggling to deal with the postpartum hair thinning and re-growth, and decided that I NEEDED to do something to take care of myself. I called some salons and walked in to several in the downtown area. Bella Vita luckily had an opening only an hour later! I walked a few doors down to get coffee while I waited.I came back and my stylist, Molly, was right on time. She was friendly and very professional. The thing I appreciated most was her taking plenty of time for the consult, and helping me talk through what cut and color I wanted and what would work well for my hair type. I loved that Molly explained what she was doing and why while she worked. She also gave me great tips on how to help my fine hair appear more voluminous. I ended up with great hair which feels healthy, has rich color and movement.The price was higher than I am used to paying (but remember how I hadn't gone in a year and a half...I am used to paying $0), but it really wasn't  much above the norm. They were all rude and not as into customer service as they were themselves. I wanted my hair blonde which I know is not always a one visit process. It wasn't anything I wanted and I paid an exorbitant amount for nothing special. It took forever which isn't a problem other than the lady not talking and seeming to literally just be doing what she needed to. I wouldn't go back I gave a second star because my hair was presentable. To make it even "better" at one point, in the little bit of convo we had I asked if she'd gone to the Acela institute and she had not. I visited this salon 3 times in the past three months and can't say enough how disappointed I was.  On the first occasion, I visited purely to buy product and when I went to pay the hokey machine they use to run credit cards hadn't been charged the night before so they took me into their dirty, messy back office to complete the transaction (unprofessional, but because I am a die-hard Aveda fan, I came back!).  My second visit was for a wax.  The wax service itself was okay (lady was friendly), however when I got home I realized she had missed a bunch.  The REAL issue was when they charged me, they charged me TWICE.  They indicated they had issued a refund for one, but after a week the refund never showed in my account.  After SEVERAL emails back and forth (NEVER did they call), whereby they insisted they weren't credited for both (my bank disagreed)...they agreed to run the refund again.  So after 2 weeks I finally received it for BOTH transactions??  So then I OWED them money!  When I went in to settle up, NEVER was an apology given.  Finally, my third visit was to have my hair colored.  I've been going to ZPLACE Salon in Kennewick for the past 15 years so when I made this appointment, I asked for a senior stylist as I'm used to that level of service.  I was dismayed after doing the small talk as I sat down to find the stylist doing my hair recently retired from the military (5 years ago...had been an accountant...btw she's also the one who did the first 2 transactions!)...and has only been doing hair for 3 years (max)...AND she's the general manager???  I brought my formula that my previous stylist had been using and the lady asked me several questions as if she didn't know what she was doing (how long do I leave it?  Do I tone it? etc.).  It took her THREE hours to do a two color weave and it ended up having orange streaks!!!!  She "bunched" the foil rather than folding it flat, which seemed very elementary to me?  But the WORST thing was that she charged me $240 for it!!!  I couldn't believe it and questioned the gal when she rung me up.  She said Glory (name of said stylist/Manager) was gone to lunch but she would have her call me.  She called me THREE days later and left a message indicating that was correct and that in fact she should have actually charged me $20 more!!!  This is NOT a high end salon...very dull and tacky.  Again, my prior experiences have been with ZPLACE in Kennewick (which is a VERY classy AVEDA salon with REAL senior stylists) and I routinely pay $130 for the same service!  For that price, I'll just drive back to Kennewick.  I would NEVER recommend this business and it's too bad this is the only Aveda Salon in the Salem area, but quite telling that in such a metro area it's so small.  Someone needs to open an Aveda salon in the Salem area that represents what Aveda really stands for. Don't be fooled by the Aveda brand - the experience was poor for a high-end salon and I was disappointed. I selected this salon in Salem without comparing reviews, having been to several Aveda salons in the Pacific Northwest and trusting the Aveda brand. I needed a holiday blowout and appreciated being able to make the appointment relatively last-minute. However, while I was on the phone with the scheduler, another person was on the phone and scheduled something during the time she had already offered to me. So, I agreed to let them call me back "right away" but did not receive the call back for at least 30 minutes. When I arrived on time, the stylist did not even arrive to the salon until 15 minutes after the time of my scheduled appointment. The receptionist was very kind and kept telling me that my stylist was just around the corner/on her way, but it kept not being the case. While I was waiting, instead of the peaceful spa-like atmosphere that I have experienced at many other high-end salons, I was subject to the obnoxious ramblings of one stylist, who then proceeded to come into the waiting area and loudly discuss her evening partying plans. Just inappropriate for the setting and not respectful of the fact that customers are there to relax and treat ourselves. Fortunately I was not receiving my service yet, but I imagine all patrons could hear her and were annoyed too. The blow-out was fine but nothing special and probably not worth the $25. The stylist was not very personable and did not make any attempts to engage me in conversation. They had told me it would take 30 minutes, and I depended on that estimate because I was on my lunch break from work. Instead, I did not leave the salon until a full 70 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, both because of the stylist's late arrival to work and also the service took longer than expected. It was very disappointing and I received no apologies or offers to make things right, even though I was late returning to work. I imagine that if this type of service is out of character for the salon, they would have made sure to take let me know. I would not return. Read Less

Stylist botched my hair color and wouldn't fix it without charging me more. I had shown them a photo of what I wanted, and the result looked nothing like it. Furthermore, one of the owners tried to overcharge me for the service that I received/was quoted for, which was already pricey. When I asked them to simply fix my hair to be what I had originally requested they became very defensive and rude. I've never encountered a more unprofessional salon.Read Less

I love the pampering you get at Bella Vita....the hot tea, micro facial and scalp and shoulder massage each time I get my hair done.  Timothy James is the best!  He listens to what you want, but isn't afraid to make suggestions, based on his experience.  I have never left the salon anything but beyond pleased! I have had a few bad salon experiences in a row, and my hair looked it, when I walked into Bella Vita Salon late this afternoon.  The gentleman at the desk started everything off just right, checked me in and brought me some of their wonderful herbal tea.  Instantly the bad (sad) memories of other salons left and all I could smell was the healing balm of Aveda, and everything only got better from there.Morganne listened to me so carefully, I never felt rushed or that I was rambling on, while I told her everything my poor head had been through, including the scareshow cut that I was left with.  I turned my head over to her, and she worked magic.She worked so carefully, but soon the cut was done, and she convinced me to do a blow out.  Am I ever glad...here it is near midnight, and I'm still twirling in front of every mirror in the house!  She not only corrected the cut, but my whole outlook.  She really understood exactly how my curly (wavy when long) yet flyaway hair needed to be cut.  I can't wait to go back and feel so well taken care of again. this place is a great cheaper aveda salon. the staff are fun and talkative, and its in a great downtown location, i personally felt comfortable here and had a great stylist. he did well with my hair (which is like a lions mane) he even brushed it after i told him it was pretty much one big dread knot.. he was fun and made me feel very comfortable, i highly recommend them. plus- aveda is amazing. I have curly hair and have had many bad haircuts in the past. I'm happy to say that Gene does a fantastic job with the cut so that it looks good curly as well as straight. He listens to what I want for the color and I have been happy with the result.The free mini-facial and hand massage are a wonderful bonus! Read Less

I could not recommend this location. I took my daughter in for a perm. It did not take and the manager refused to refund my money. I will give two stars to the owner who eventually made it right but both the manager and hairdresser refused to take care of the problem by refunding my money. Poor customer service. Read Less

I went there for the first time and immediately noticed how nice it looked. It was a very short wait and the young man cutting my hair was very funny and polite. However, I had a picture of exactly what I wanted my hair to look like when I left, what type of cut I wanted, ect. but after it looked nothing like the photo I presented. which, if I had gotten it cheap may have been okay but paying $120 dollar and getting nothing close to what I asked for was very disappointing. I get my eyebrows waxed here all the time but wanted to get a pedicure and so I came here first. Michelle, who has also done my eyebrows, did my pedicure. I came here to get my hair dyed & trimmed. I had really damaged and dry hair. At the time my hair was long and went down my back and the top layer was bleached blond. I made an appointment with Steven who actually specializes in color and he saved my hair! My hair was a nice deep brown color and very soft; something I haven't had for a while! He was so nice and funny! Steven was energetic and also gave me a glass of champagne. I felt relaxed and great during and after my appointment. Definitely would come back if I was in Oregon again! I'll be honest...I've never gotten a haircut here. However, the first/only time I've gotten my eyebrows waxed, it was at Bella Vita.I'd heard good things about this salon, so I definitely wanted to check it out. I made an appointment, and showed up, and while the phone was ringing off the hook, the receptionist still was able to be very attentive, notifying the stylist of my presence and even offering me water or tea.I was really nervous when it was my time to go, simply because I didn't want all of my eyebrows ripped out. The stylist was very nice, and quickly put me at ease. The chairs were really, really comfortable, and she took her time to be thorough and gentle. This salon is located in Liberty Plaza, across the street from JC Penney's downtown. It's an Aveda salon, which I think generally means it's slightly better than the usual. At least they use great products. I've had 3 cuts there, two by Viola (you will be corrected if you pronounce it Vee-ola. it's VIE-ola), and one by the salon owner, Elaine. Viola gives me a good cut, but Elaine gave me a great cut. She only works one week a month, as she now lives in the Tahoe area, but call ahead--she's fantastic. Complimentary with every cut is a scalp massage and mini-facial. They're nice touches. I like coming here since I work downtown. I can make a lunch appointment or for right after work. They're very friendly and give good cuts! Read Less
