I went in to have my solar nails that they did previously filled in. Some of their previous work was coming loose from the nail. Instead of removing the entire solar nail, they cut around it, taking the loose part off. Then did a thin coat of solar material over the spot. I had an appointment to get to and didn't notice what bad job they did till later when I looked at them. Went in when they opened again and explained that I wanted to get my nails fixed. The woman said they were "booked". The older man who did the nails the horrible job was sweeping outside. I felt he could have made the effort to fix them as he had did my nails in the past correctly. The woman barked "You come back tomorrow". Told her I would not be back. Overpriced, sloppy work, and no concern for good customer service. Going back to Zen Nails in North Portland. Read Less

I am currently visiting Oregon for the summer and let me tell you, Fancy Nails is the BEST in town. I was looking for a place to get shellac acrylics for a good price and I checked this place called scandolous hair and they charge 45 dollars JUST FOR ACRYLICS!! They don't even do shellac! So when I came into fancy nails I found out that their are special student prices for a full set and it was very money saving! The total was 40 but Jenny gave me 3 dollars off lol so I payed 37 besides tips. I got shellac acrylics plus a marble design on all nails it costed ten extra dollars but it was worth it! They will do many designs! At first they didn't show it but when I asked her she brought up a special design thing and I saw what I wanted! This place is beyond amazing and many people come to this place. It is so busy and it's great! It is the best business in town! Read Less

This place is pretty ghetto. Granted, it's a small town and options are very limited. The leg massage with the pedi is ok but if you want a top notch mani and you're looking for something detailed, you'll probably need to drive into Longview/Portland or at least Scappoose. The salon is a little run down with little to no curb appeal. Making an appointment doesn't really do you any good. Every time I do I still wait around for 15-30 mins. Usually they put me in the pedi chair to relax which is nice. The prices are pretty average for a good mani/pedi, high for the sloppy job you'll get here unfortunately.Bring cash or they'll make you go to Skinny's and pull out cash, you'll pay a $3 fee for that...I'd say, visit at your own risk. I don't remember who did my nails but it was absolutely terrible. The first time I went there I showed an exact picture of what I wanted he & he did a terrible job. One nail was suppose to be all sparkly & you could see my actual nail, and I wanted Rhine stones on all my nails and he only put them on 2. The second time I went there it was okay, but the lady who did my nails kept getting my skin with the drill. The last time I went, I can't believe I even paid for it, it looks like a 10 year old did it. The guy did not even Buff out my nails so I had to do it at home because my nails were so scratchy. Some of my nails aren't even straight, the dip down or they go up. The painting job is Awful, sides of my nails aren't even painted, there's dents, parts that aren't even fully coated. I forgot my "nail kit" at home so I had to pay for it again, no problem. But when I went to go pay the guy another girl just took the "kit" from the drying table. Like if I pay for it than I want it. Also another little side note. Someone guy came in to get a gift card for his wife, he said mani pedi, which one their price board is 45$ and the guy made him pay 60$. Overall if you go there, don't take the guys. They obviously didn't actually go to school for nails. It's sad Read Less

This nail salon is the worst I have ever been too. I went once in high school (about 11 years ago) and I hated it. I thought for sure it would have changed by now. So I gave it a second chance yesterday and it's still awful! The place looks like it's falling apart and its dirty. The employee told me it was $15 for a pedi and they only have one. However I just read on their website they have a hot stone pedi for an outrageous $60 ( I pay $35 in Portland). The chairs are a little outdated and don't work to well. After my toe nails were painted they asked me to walk across the dirty floor with my bare feet (he was carrying my sandals). He had me sit in a very uncomfortable chair and put this tiny drying machine over my feet. After my feet were dry they came and put hot wax on them and had me sit there longer. By the time they pulled the wax off (which I had to remind them I was still sitting there) it had been about 30 minutes. One employee yelled outside for the guy who was working on my feet to come in and remove the bags with wax in them off of my feet. The guy put out his cigarette and came straight to my feet without washing his hands. When I went to pay, the guy told me it was $25. Not $15 like he told me previously. $15 is for 18 and under. Needless to say I will NEVER go back. Read Less

So, I've been here a number of times over the course of 15 years (I've got friends and family out that way), and while I do tend to prefer my pedicures closer to home, this place is a totally acceptable alternate. 5 Things FYI:1. This place has been around forever and it is located in a small town. They have regular customers, but business isn't exactly expansive. The chairs are "vintage" (and by this I mean they haven't been updated since probably the early 90's, maybe even 80's) and the equipment nor decor hasn't changed much. It's adequate.2. It's the only decent place to get your nails, waxing, etc done in the entire town. This means they are busy during peak hours (such as before and after work/school and on weekends). Hit it mid-day, mid-week, and it is golden.3. Be prepared to hold your ground and ask questions. They can be pushy, and/or vague. Be clear about what you want and what you don't want. Don't be afraid to speak up. The same family has been running this place for as long as I can remember, and they have a lot of experience, but that doesn't mean you can't dictate what happens to your body.4. Skip the free booze unless you feel like revisiting high school nostalgia.5. Bring your own tools. While I haven't had a problem with them 're-using tools" on me, I just find that I get more consistent results with my own tools. Read Less

OK, let me start off by saying the the one other review on here is quite witty and an enjoyable read, at first skim I thought they served tacos!     I am not going to waste time with filler and wit so here are just the pertinent details:* location is great, right on the main drag, Hwy 30* hours are normal for a basic nail salon M-F 10-7, Sun to 5* you don't need a reservation, they usually have enough techs so you are not waiting too long, but Fridays & Saturdays tend to get busy. I love going during the weekday mid afternoons, so relaxing and they are not rushed.* building is old and salon is a bit run down, but hey, I tried the newish salon over by Starbucks and another newish salon in Scapoose and they both had inadequate nail techs and short massages with just 'surface' pedis. They have painted and updated in the past year, so it's now up to date.* pedicure stations are always spotless, but a few of the chairs may need massagers updated. Just ask to change seats if yours isn't working correctly.* they offer you something to drink, maybe not the highest quality alcohol but hey, it's free! I asked for a diet coke and although they didn't have any, the owner ran to the mini mart nearby and bought me one! On my first visit! * my pedicures have always been TOP NOTCH! I am not giving you my techs name because I am selfish,  but wowza, best pedi/massage in 20 years of going to various salons.Request your favorite tech, some of the  male techs take some getting used to so if one doesn't do your pedi to your l I king, try someone else...then stick with them. * I took a chance and got my eyebrows, stache and chin waxed. Tina listens to how I wanted them and they turn out perfect, every time! Others tend to go so fast you feel like there is no way it is done well, but still turned out OK, just wish she would slow down just a bit. Add some niceties to the experience. In a nutshell, I have had a pleasurable experience each and every visit. My pedis last 4-5 weeks with no chipping. Everyone's is over-the-top friendly and prices are good. I will return often.PS although the comment about what they were saying in Vietnamese was witty, they all speak English and I taped them once after I read the other review, just out of curiosity. I played it for my Vietnamese friend and she said they were just gossiping about their friends and family and some dinner stuff. Ha, guess the jokes on us judgmental people! Read Less

If a town could be named after the people of Walmart, St. Helens Oregon would take the cake. Here, it is perfectly acceptable to dine in flamingo pajama pants, aqua net your bangs like it's the 90's and pickling your liver or doing meth is the only source of entertainment. The residents don't let you forget about their undying love for Mitt Romney and despite our efforts to separate our trash from recycling, the garbage man throws it all in one bin. My expectations weren't set high when I walked into Fancy Nails. In fact, my expectations have rapidly diminished after being trapped here for nearly 5 months.Upon arrival, I had that filmy feeling of dirty that you get when you wander into an alleyway taqueria in Mexico where the meat sits out for days and you keep swatting flys away. You know the tacos are going to be bomb but it's just a matter of hours before your guts will rumble in distress as you pay 5 pesos to drop that "bomb" in the nearest public toilet.I was distracted from this when the tiny lady looked up and asked if I wanted a glass of wine.  I opted for red and when the paper cup arrived, it contained a Zinfandel of the Boones Farms variety. I know it was free, but Boones? Are we going to start smoking those long skinny cigarettes that smell like vanilla now, also?So the pedicure commenced and then the other worker started on my mani.  I know that the feet belonged to me,  but is it kind of creepy that they used the same tools they used to scrub the dead skin off of them without cleaning them to file down my finger nails? The towel that was placed on my lap had crusty finger nail shavings on them. One of them was a yellowish piece that I imagined was clipped off a  lady in a mumu with the diah-beetus. This towel resembled the ratty one I use to clean up dog pee when one of the guys has an accident. At last, my pedi was done and my big toe was accidently smeared to ruins when we transferred to the mani station.  She was very apologetic and crawled beneath the station to fix my toe while the other one finished my hands.  So here I awkwardly was, with one girl at my feet stooped down under a desk, the other at my hands and my paper cup filled with Boones. Earlier, I had read on the wall that they did shoulder rubs for a fee.  As my shellac was finishing up, the girl couldn't seem to get it to stick.  She panicked after multiple failed attempts and told her friend and they all started talking in Vietnamese.  I joked and told them I knew what they were saying and then the owner came over to tell me how pretty the color I had chosen was.  Red. How unique. I really don't know Vietnamese but I translated the  conversation to this. "Dude, she is getting pissed! Do something fast!""I know! she is tattooed and brown and she will probably cut us! Distract her! Now!!"So, in an effort to deviate from the present emergency, the one that wasn't good at shellacing began to rub my shoulders while a new one took over and ultimately got the shellac to go.   In summary, there is absolutely nothing fancy about Fancy Nails, but the end result was one of the nicest and long lasting mani/Pedi's I've ever had. Next you might make a request for a special person, with your appt. and they give you someone else. To add the place is a pig sty, if you wnat to relax, the noisy, messy atmosphere will not do you well. I on more than one occasion had to leave with one service done, then to come back 30 min. later, then told another 10 minutes, knowing full well that she just started a new customer, and again it will be another 30 min. at least. I was recommended Fancy Nails by a friend and decided to give it a try for my birthday. I went in to get a full set of solar nails and a pedicure. Unfortunately, I was left with a painful cut on my thumb from the nail file they used on me, days later it still hurts, and the quality on the nails was less than satisfying. I can see lines in the acrylic from not being buffed enough, bubbles in the acrylic, and the line between the white acrylic and the pink acrylic is not even a clean line. A side from the employee's being very friendly, I was very disappointed and will not be returning. Read Less

First of all if you make an appointment even two days in advance, forget it, you will arrive and they will say just 5-10 minutes, then 45 minutes later you will be started on. Next you might make a request for a special person, with your appt. and they give you someone else. To add the place is a pig sty, if you wnat to relax, the noisy, messy atmosphere will not do you well. I on more than one occasion had to leave with one service done, then to come back 30 min. later, then told another 10 minutes, knowing full well that she just started a new customer, and again it will be another 30 min. at least. Quality wise not too good, still trying to find something local. Read Less

I walked into Fancy Nails to get a waxing and they were able to do so. I told the receptionist I only want my upper and lower lip hairs removed. She said it will be $5. Before I had the waxing done, I made it very clear I ONLY wanted around my lips done. After the waxing, she said I owed $10.50. The fee sign says $5, but she insisted anything befow my bottom lip was considered my chin???? I will never go to this place again nor any Asian waxing place. I believe we are all one world and is not because I don't like Asians. It's because everytime each place has some story to overcharge me. Why is this? Read Less

Read Less
