I've been coming here a few years now for pedicures, and always had excellent service, however, this past year I started getting manicures here as well, and since I had bitten my nails forever, I didn't understand the quality of their service until now. Last week I went to a different place to get my nails done, and oh my was I disappointed. Nails started peeling within days, polish all over, just a bad experience all around. I got a set of acrylic nails and they came out beautiful! The original polish I picked was too sheer so she helped me find another neutral/nude color that worked. I also had my eyebrows waxed and that was definitely the best part. Thanh is much better than the Brow Bar I go to and the service is much cheaper here. I'll probably come back just for my eyebrows! If I could give 0 stars, I would. I came in after calling and asking them if they did SNS nails. Over the phone, the lady said that they did and that they had over 100 colors to choose from. Which, hilarious, because I get there and they had a pink and white for French nails. THAT IS ALL. I was really needing a new set of nails due to a new job coming up, so I decided to do pink since it was a neutral color.THE WORST, I was basically correcting her through out the whole process. She obviously had no idea what she was doing to me. She started filing when it was too soon and had to start two nails ALL OVER, FOUR TIMES. I had glue all over the sides of my nails and when I told her she needed to do something about that, she said IT WOULD COME OFF WHEN I SHOWER.... lol, and she ended the process by sticking my hands under a UV light. When I asked her why I had never had that happen with SNS nails, she shrugged it off and made me feel like I did not know what I was talking about. By this time I had been there for 3 HOURS, so I scurried off and hoped for the best.The next day my nails had cracks and 3 days later, my nails began chipping. I was so upset so I went to have them fixed. I take care of my nails! I put gloves on when I clean, be sure to be careful what I put on my hands and never do anything too tolling (I am a personal banker..), but when I showed her my hands, it's like she had a sarcastic tone! She said that had never happened on any other client and asked me what I did.... I have gotten SNS nails corrected before, and they have to take the entire nail off, she only replaced the cracks. By the time she was done, it was 2 hours later, and the nails were obvious different colors where she corrected. I was so upset I just left without saying a word.Never have I ever had such a horrible experience. A day later, the "corrections" she made had cracks in them already. She said I could go back if it happened again, but I am not wasting my time or has ever again at this nail salon. Read Less

I decided to give this shop a chance because my normal wonderful nail artist was out of town and I was leaving to have major surgery in California the next day and wanted to feel good. I spent $80 on gel manicure and pedicure with hot  stones and wax specifically because I would be having surgery and wanted my hands and feet to look nice For me during recovery. After 3 days the first nail chipped, the next a few days later. Then the entire gel polish lifted off the big toe for no reason. I have been literally lying in a hospital bed and this happens! I can not imagine how horrible they would look if I was up and running around like normal! What a waste of $80! Never again Read Less

My daughter and I visited this salon for the first time Saturday, Oct. 8. I called earlier in the week and made what I thought was an appointment for that time. There were four people there in the middle of their manicures and pedicures and only 3 people working. We had to wait. While we were waiting at least 6 more people came in and were waiting, too.A 4th worker finally showed up while we were leaving. They could have easily kept 6 people busy.I don't like salons that lead you to believe you have made an appointment when they don't work by an appointment book.I will return to my favorite salon on NE Broadway. Amazing attention to detail!This is the best nail place I've ever been to. Every other time I've had my nails done elsewhere I leave regretting it because I'm always unhappy with something... the shape, the length, the color... something. But not here! I have never had a nail technician spend so much time on applying the acrylic, shaping the nail, buffing, etc... at every step she was checking the corner and sides of the nail and double checking shape from all angles. I showed her a picture of a look I was hoping to achieve and she told me what needed to be done to achieve it... and she was spot on! My nails look exactly how I was hoping for them to. I've been to Terwilliger Nails twice now - once about 1.5 years ago and the weekend before last. The first time I got a gel manicure and within 1.5 weeks, the polish started peeling up from the sides. The salon is really close to my home and the 4.5 Yelp rating is impressive so I decided to give it a second chance. I got a gel french manicure and my first ever gel pedicure. Tina worked very quickly. A bit too quickly. I immediately noticed that the white polish didn't extend all the way to the sides of most of my nails but didn't say anything. The next day the white tips of my nails had already started to wear off and the polish had come off of the top of one of my big toe nails. I called the salon explaining what was occurring, indicating that I'd like my one toenail fixed and half of my money refunded. They said to come in. It took me 3 days to get there given my work and family schedule. When I got there I reiterated my wish of having my one toe nail fixed and half of my money refunded. Tina insisted on fixing all of my nails. I said I didn't have the time but stayed anyway. She did her best, added another layer of white polish, another top coat, etc. trying to make it right. However, in the end, 3 of 10 of the white tips were so thick that there is a significant bump moving from my nail bed to the white tip; some noticeably have two lines where the new white polish wasn't painted exactly over the old polish; and there are air bubbles in 3 of my nails. After that, we went to fix my one toe and when I removed my boots, I discovered that the polish was starting to come off of 5 of my toenails. GEL polish! So, she added another layer of polish to my toes. Nine days later, the polish on two of my finger nails is peeling from the side. Since my nails are growing, you can see where the white polish wasn't extended all of the way to the edges, which looks tacky. There are ridges all the way around the clear polish. They just look terrible. My toe nails, however, seem to be holding up.Getting my nails done is something that is a luxury to me, the one thing that I do to pamper myself. It's extremely disappointing to spend my money ($65 + a $10 tip) and valuable time getting my nails done only to have them turn out poorly. It's great that the salon wanted to try and make it right but the fingernail "fix" didn't turn out well at all and the whole ordeal cost me another hour of my life. While Tina is nice (thus the two stars), I absolutely wouldn't recommend going here if you want your nails done well. There's also the fact that the place is deathly unless the TV is on, in which case you get to listen to commercials while you're trying to relax. Tina was the only one there when I arrived and when the other technician came in, they didn't say a word to each other - nor to Tina's husband, the owner, when he came in. My new go-to SW Pedi spot. I called for appointment day after Memorial Day. They had an opening. I was promptly greeted and seated. They offered ice cold water or hot tea. No pressure on pedi choice. The chairs clean and comfy. I thought the place was relaxing and spotless. I had the deluxe pedi which included massage,scrub, paraffin, oil treatment and hot rocks. Toes painted to perfection. By far my favorite place. Tina is fantastic and the other gentleman who seems to run the place is wonderful too. The chairs are well taken care of and super comfortable. They offer complimentary drinks, though we don't drink, so we didn't take them up on it, but still it is offered. Price is reasonable and if you enjoy tv (again we don't but to each their own) there is one there to watch while you relax. There's even a little mermaid chair for a young lady or boy. I moved into the neighborhood 3yrs ago and have been looking for a great nail place. Sadly it took me till 3 months ago to find Terwilliger Nails! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. I have now been 3 times and they treat me like an old friend. My first experience was a pedicure with Kristin. I am all about the massage and relaxation. She did a great job. The next two times were for nails. I called right before I went to make sure I could get her and not have to wait. She listened to what I wanted my nails to look like and took her time to make them perfect.I can't say enough how great my experiences have been and highly recommend!!! Read Less

I had a nice experience at Terwilliger Nails.  I would recommend and return.I called ahead, usually I will do the 'walk-in', but last time I tried that in this neighborhood, I couldn't get in and had to search elsewhere.They had an opening at 2:45.  They had plenty of polish to select from, good brands: OPI and such.  I didn't see any pricing listed on the wall - curious.  They only had two techs and I saw them turn down a few potential customers that were walk ins.  I was there for a pedicure only and they handed me a menu of services to chose from.  I went for the $45 Deluxe option which included a massage with rocks and the extra time with your feet in the baggies.  The owner later showed up and chatted with another regular client.  It seemed the staff were familiar with a few of their customers.  Gave it a nice homey feel.  The water temp. was good and hot.  They didn't have too much atmosphere.  Could use a little art.  I heard the gals offer: "Water, Tea, Beer, Wine?" to a customer. So cute.  I had some hot tea.  The quality of work and price were good and fair They made the time enjoyable.  I relaxed after my pedicure and they didn't rush me out the door.  A TV monitor, but it was off. Plenty of magazines to read.  The only thing I might recommend would be to offer more techs - so they can accept more clients walking in.  They have designated parking spots and the lot is a bit tight sharing it with other tenants. I had been loyal to my previous nail salon for a year or so. I had been happy with my nails until the past few visits.  It was time for a change. I called ahead and set my appointment. Tina was prompt and professional. I can honestly say that I have never been happier with my nails. She shaped them beautifully and they looked great for more than three weeks.
