I have been going to Onyx for the last three years and won't go anywhere else in Portland! I stop in about once every month and always get great service. Whether I walk in or make an appointment, they are always prompt and I very rarely wait. They've got a great selection of colors for regular mani/pedi and especially gel colors...they're always getting new on trend colors. BB, Tina, and Vihn are the best of the best. I've had the pleasure of having BB  and Vihn work with me but today Tina finished up my gel manicure and I am so happy with the results! She did such a great job and was very friendly.I appreciate how the staff here takes their time and delivers amazing results. They are also very familiar with their regular customers and I am always greeted by name when I come in. I've never paid more for a regular full set before, and it is literally the worst nail job I've ever had. The shellac dried on my skin and had to be peeled off, they were rushing and to top it off, it hasn't even been a week and one of the nails has fallen off. I am so grateful to BB!  Tonight my daughter and I went to Onxy for the first time after having a bad experience at the salon we have been customers of for YEARS.  BB took one look at the awful fill job I had and insisted that my acrylics needed to come off and we needed to start over.  She was SO RIGHT!  Now I have a beautiful new set of acrylics, and BB was so attentive and careful.  She made sure that they look natural, which I really appreciate.  Thank you, BB!  My daughter and I will definitely be back! Always rushed, trying to get done with you as fast as possible to get to the next person. They give wine to some women, and others don't even get a cup of water, much less are even asked if they'd like a glass of wine! Manis and Pedis are just ok. BB is the owner, and she has her husband doing nails too - I doubt he's licensed!!!  She rushes you through, constantly complains about other clients, and yesterday offered another client a glass of wine and didn't even offer me a glass of water....this is not the first time she's done this.I have been a loyal client, always tip over 20%, and have given her thousands of dollars worth of clothes over the years instead of giving them to Goodwill and getting a tax write off, but after multiple times of sitting there watching her give other clients glasses of wine without ever offering me the same, I am going back to Elegant Nails off of 23rd. I have been coming to Onyx Salon for years and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Being in the beauty industry myself, I'm extremely particular. Tina does an impeccable job every time.  She is a perfectionist and pays great attention to detail.  The salon is clean, and relaxing with nice decor.  It is much nicer than the typical nail salon with endless rows of chairs.  Look no further for all your nail and waxing needs! I've been here about 5 times and my manicure experience always goes like this: 1. Quick greeting and seating2. Offered tea or water3. A warm neck wrap 4. Gloves to protect against UV rays from the dryer 5. A little hand massage at the endBB usually does my shellac manicures and I am always very happy. She is fun, talkative, and talented. I loved my manicure, I had the most perfect acrylic manicure. The polish looked great 3 weeks later. The ladies were so nice and put money in the parking meter for me since I am from another city and didn't understand the parking meter. I've used Onyx for years. Went elsewhere when shellac hit the scene because Onyx didn't have it and my nails suffered for it. Onyx does shellac now so I've gone back and am happy. They have a lovely tranquil atmosphere. Kevin not only takes pride in his work but enjoys it. That says it all. I take my daughter and Mom for Mother's Day treats as a tradition. I have seen one person here who is very talented. However, the last few times have been awful. They cut into the cuticle of my toe, it still hurts! They shaped my nails, which are real and strong, like acrylics. Needless to say, most of them started breaking in a couple of days. The polish was poorly applied,it chipped in two days. The massage chairs are great. But the prices here are high. Too high for the lack of expertise. I was willing to pay the price for a great manicurist. I've lived all around the country and Onyx Salon in Portland is one of the best quality manicure/pedicure salons for the money I've found. For Portland it's a tad pricier than the average Nail shop on the corner, but the quality of the treatment & atmosphere is worth it!
