The salon is beautiful! Other than that I do not recommend this place at all! For $45.00 before the tip, I would expect the results to be a lot better. Absolutely zero attention to detail. During my nail dip, I needed to have them redo several nails. I just got home, and they are very bumpy and VERY thick. It was a giant waste of money. I've become very into having fun nail art lately. When I found out about Fumi's salon I knew I had to try it because she can do so much!  I got acrylic nails the day before so I can't review the soak off gel, only the art that she does, which is fabulous. I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do and we worked through them and found ones that were cute and matched. Yes - this is as good as it gets.  I've searched for someone in Portland who can do REAL nail art - not just flowers... well - Fumi is it!!!  Check out her creative nails all done by hand. She is talented and fun. Reasonably priced for original artwork on your nails. Specialized products imported from Japan.  I sent a picture beforehand so we had ideas as I wanted something custom but it isn't necessary to have something one custom. Fumi has an entire portfolio of unique and distinctive nail artwork.  Whether it's for every day or a special occasion I promise you can't go wrong here. I get my nails done at a salon maybe 0-1 time a year, because:1.) I can do it myself (even though it doesn't turn out as pretty or stay on as long).2.) I'm too indecisive when it comes to the assortment of colors and designs that are available.3.) I'd rather not spend $20-30 on a manicure.4.) My nails are sensitive so it can be somewhat painful when a manicurist is aggressively filing them down.5.) Going to a nail salon just makes me uncomfortable with all the small talk or no conversations at all.But... I decided to give Fumi and the Japanese soak-off gel a try, knowing that I would end up paying more than double what I'd rather not spend. I've got to say... this is probably the best manicure experience I've ever had. I was the last appointment of the day and being indecisive, it took me quite a while to pick a color/design, but never once did Fumi make me feel rushed. She was so sweet and really made sure that my nails turned out perfect and the way I wanted them. I came in for a simple polish change and walked out with clumpy and unclean nails. No big deal- I can clean up around my nails at home. However it was so thick that even after almost an hour of being careful and letting them dry they still weren't and made a putty mess all over my nails. When they offered to fix them I obliged but I'm not sure the second time really is any better. My daughters pinky popped right off and when I let them know we were in a rush so it had to be quick they left her sitting in the chair while they gossiped and weren't paying attention. I booked an appointment after viewing Fumi's work on Instagram, I specifically wanted to try the Japanese soak off gel. I am very pleased with the results. That type of gel is great for nail art. Fumi is incredible and lovely! She's like a surgeon in her precision. I found her online and wanted to hire her to do my wedding nails. She, being very popular, was booked solid (my wedding was 4 days out). But I called anyway and left a voice message anyway in case someone canceled and the gods must have been smiling because that's exactly what happened and she was able to fit me in!She listened to what I wanted and made some suggestions and by the time my nails were done I and my friend were in complete awe. I have never seen nail art like this before. And this was 3 weeks ago and they still look amazing! Just grown out. Fumi is the best! I've always wanted fun and cool designs for my nails, but I couldn't find anyone that could do it, or had the talent to do so. When I went to Japan, I was able to finally get the manicure I've always wanted but was sad to think that it was the only chance I will ever get my nails done in that style. Luckily, I found Fumi's business through Google and was ecstatic that I can continue having the style of manicure. Fumi is extremely attentive to detail and conscious of what the client wants. I found myself feeling right at home with her being so kind and talkative! I always feel awkward getting my nails done if conversation seems forced or worse, it's silent. But Fumi is very easygoing and wanted to make sure my nails were exactly how I wanted them! I got the Japanese gel nails with designs on two nails, and a hand massage. Price was a little more expensive than I have paid in the past at other salons, but don't let that deter you. It's spring break & while everyone is away on vacation, I decided to pamper myself. My first place on my pamper list was with Fumi. I've been following her for awhile now on Facebook & Instagram & really really wanted to have the design of my husband's new food cart on my nails. Most places you go in & say, "I want this!" & point to some picture on Pinterest. You get a smile & a nod & then some kind of flower. I had spoken to Fumi beforehand about my wishes, & guess what she did? She researched our logo, our colors, other pizza nails, ideas, & options even before I got there. She catered to my needs! My friend reccomended that I visit Fumi many, many times. I always loved my friend's nails so I figured I would give it a shot since I had a specail occasion coming up.I decided to go ultra high end (because go big or go home) and got the Japanese gel/color and design on all my fingers (Took about 3hours, Fumi really pays attention to every detail! Please plan for parking!)Fumi gives wonderful customer service, is knowlegeable and is great with connecting with her clients.  Also has a fantastic playlist! I'm all about groovy tunes, fun conversation and cute nails.  In other words, she is a fantastic nail consoltant and really cares about what color and design you want while giving a unique touch to her clients.Please don't be intmidated by her price menu. You honestly get the quality art and duriblity for your money. Also I've been treated poorly by other nail technicans in the past so its so nice just to be treated like a human. Fumi did a great job on my nails. She's very good at listening to her clients and she has many different options for your nails, I really recommend getting the soak of gel it lasts a lot longer. It is also a better option if you want to be more creative with your nails and have some fun. If you're new to getting the Japanese soak off gel nails, Fumi is the best, she is very meticulous with her work so you really feel like she's giving you all of her attention and she's very pleasant to talk with. I was so excited to have my first Japanese nail art manicure experience. This is very different than a typical nail salon.
