This is absolutely my favorite local nail salon! With wonderful service, friendly team, great shellac and polish selection along with offering acrylic and real gel nails. I get my real gel nails and pedicures done by Kevin and I couldn’t be happier every time I walk in and leave with glam new nails! Best local nail salon around! I come to see Kevin for my gel coat nails and my pedicures and he is incredible. Kevin and his team are very friendly, accommodating, efficient and they do an incredible job! I get in and out of there happy as can be every time. The environment is calm, enjoyable and some good laughter when you get to know them! With a wonderful selection of shellac and polish colors as well and option of real gel over acrylic nails, it's the best spot within short radius! One of the worst manicures I have ever received, the nail care here is perfunctory at best. My technician did not soak my nails before he trimmed my cuticles, and consequently caused me to bleed. I didn't notice my shellac had bubbles until I was already home, and 3 days later it was already starting to lift. Made an appointment for three people, they only ended up doing two of us and told my daughter to come back after making her wait almost two hours! They kept taking tons of pedicures and wouldn't do hers. The guy told my friend that they didn't have the pink acrylic powder but they did cause mine were pink. We weren't given time to find a color. Was pretty much forced to get white tips. The nails are uneven and super short on the thumbs. My pinky nail tip was so low that I asked if she could move it higher. So instead of soaking it off real quick, she ripped it off and made me bleed. The acrylic is so think in spots that as soon as I do dishes, I'm sure they will come off. She didn't putting the alcohol or bonding on my nails to help prevent lifting. I asked for square oval and got very ugly squares that are super sharp. I had to file them myself and they are still catching on everything. I'm beyond mad. This is the worst place. I thought Tina's was bad cause the product there was bad. It made my hands feel like they were on fire! But this place takes the cake on bad! Never ever ever, will I go back. I will go back to Ninas or mademoisel in the next few days! Read Less

I've always gone to this salon to get liquid UV gel. Not a lot of people are familiar with this type of gel and I have had people absolutely butcher my nails because they had no clue how to use it. I used to come here for Becky who was INCREDIBLE but she left. I tried coming back to them after multiple failed attempts at gel at other salons. Kevin did my nails and he did such a great job!!! He kept asking me if I liked them after every step and was very gentle with my sensitive nails. Must recommend!!! Read Less

First time experiencing Zen and enjoyed the experience tremendously. Friendly, clean, efficient and a classic pedi is the standard $25 with hot stones, no wax (unfortunate). They are quite proud that they have two white gals that work there to avoid language barriers that exist at other salons. Would highly recommend. Read Less

I brought my 3 year old (and myself) in for a manicure, and they (literally everyone in there) went above and beyond my expectations... I absolutely love this nail salon! I just moved back to the area and was in search of a new nail tech. Tried a few places out and they didn't work out for multiple reasons.. however, I stumbled upon Zen and was greeted by Anthony. He treated me like a friend right off the bat and introduced me to Becky. She offered to fix my nails before date night. Thank god! She did an amazing job and my gel lasted for over 3 weeks (wish is good for me since I wash my hands 30-40 times a day) I went back today and got a mani/pedi and wanted to do a Christmas theme. This is a great nail salon. I've had two shellac manicures here and they were both meticulous and perfect. They were pretty and I had no problems with chipping. They have nice pedicure chairs and I can't wait to try one here. I believe they also give facials and do eyebrows. Employees are friendly and treat everyone like family. Read Less

I was in a bad mood when I came in here, but I was greeted with such a wide smile by one of the nail technicians that I had to ease up. The owner immediately followed with an equally warm greeting and offered me tea or another beverage. For whatever reason, they made me feel like I was important.When I chose to get a gel for my manicure after she started my pedicure, they all gathered and conversed to make sure that the nail color I chose would match the pedicure color - it was rather adorable how concerned they were about it. You can tell that they really care about their customer service here. The pedicure felt great and both the manicure and pedicure were relaxing. First to clarify, that there are two Zen nails in Portland and my review only reflects the newly opened one on Murray_Scholls. As per OR State Board, this is a new establishment, under new management since May 2016.  I hope they are better than the salon before May.  My Shellac manicure service was phenomenal!!  Becky is my nail tech and the guy, manager, (forgot name) has treated all customers like a friend. Long lasting Shellac fills.  I have been here 2 times and it was every 3 weeks. Clean and neat facility and they are open Sundays.  Manager says he is hiring Nail Techs currently as they are just opening. I will return again for other services, hoping to check out other Techs. My Shellac here is really affordable as opposed to others nearby. Becky is a true artist and seems honest proving to me that it's not the money but happiness in customers that matters. My shellac/pink solar as in photos posted lasts 3-4 weeks, not to forget the eyebrow wax shaping with the arch.   *** Management does not allow technicians to engage in foreign language conversations and that is a big plus, so the whole salon has a positive calm vibe*** Read Less
