It's rare that I give a business one star, but I feel compelled to warn everyone...When you walk into a nail place and your gut tells you it's probably not a good decision, LISTEN! I did not, and I completely regret having gone to Northstar Nails. The shop is filthy. Dust everywhere, the bathroom is nasty, and the gentleman who did my nails was not exactly well-groomed. I asked for a shellac polish. He started by roughly filing my nails straight across, but not actually straight...just a hack job. I asked him to even them out, and he told me he files them cleanly AFTER painting is done. What??? Every time I've had shellac, they make sure to paint the edges to keep it from chipping! He didn't cover the nails well with the base coat, so by then time we got with two color coats and top coat, you could already see where the polish was peeling up. There were spots missing any polish at all, so I asked him to fix three nails. All he did was add more coats of color, so I ended up with lumpy thick nails that were just horrible.I had gotten the polish done for a family trip and event, and when I got there, my mother sweetly asked me if I was still ever getting manicures... That's her way of saying, "Girl, your nails are a hot mess; do something about that." When I told her I had, she was horrified I had spent money on it!The blessing is that they at least peeled off on day 3 (the evening of my family event. Didn't even make it to the party.) So I spent $22 on a polish job I could have done better myself that would have lasted longer. I'm sure the owner/operator is a very nice man, but he should NOT be doing nails, nor should he be running a salon. Get a Swiffer cloth and clean that place, learn how to do shellac, or shut it down. But girls, do NOT go into this shop. You've been warned! Read Less
