I have been twice actually three times and Monday will be my fourth. My initial visit was for a pedicure and gel manicure well the gel polish was popping off like lee press on nails so then I went back so they could redo my gel polish which it lasted for 3 weeks after it was redone. So I was impressed with it lasting for so long so I went back to the same nail tech that had did them before (that lasted 3 weeks) so the next day after my third visit they start to peel. I didn’t quite understand what she did differently until I started to realize she did not put any nail dehydration on and she kept saying if you have any problem with your nails give us a call. Well my thing is why would it be a problem when you did my nails 3 weeks a go and they were flawless. So once again I am going back on Monday to get them “fixed” again!! I have $40 left on a $180 gift card my husband purchased for me and I had considered being a regular but I think I am not. I should have just went and got my massage and have been done with this place. I feel that I should not have to keep on coming back the job should have been done right in the first place the right way!! I gave them 2 stars because they are willing to fix their mistakes. So I went a couple of weeks ago for color and a cut. I wanted face framing and bleach hair with light brown hi-lights. I originally wanted a full bleach color then hi-lights but she talked me into just doing bleach and brown lights (my original color was very brassy but she said it would look great). I took 3 different pictures 2 of the color I wanted and 1 of the cut I wanted. After paying 180.00, I came home that day and flat ironed my hair (because the stylist curled it) a...nd the cut and color were awful. The color looked so washed out, the brown was very dark, and the original brassy color with the bleach and brown looks horrid . The cut was uneven and was nowhere near being framed. I called the same day and made my complaint, and they got me back in a couple of days later with the same stylist. When I got there they only had we scheduled for a recut (which is still not right) I told the stylist the issue with the color and she advised me to make another appointment because she didn’t have time. So I made an appointment which was today to redo the color (with the same stylist) I explained to her in great detail and showed her the pictures again and told her that I thinks it’s better to do a full color then hi-lights she again advised me not to and said by adding some more bleach that it would be better but she advised against a recut because she was afraid that my hair would look stringy. So she added the color which looks better but still not worth 180.00 and my cut is still the same. Let me start by saying that I’ve never had a bad experience at BB by anybody or any service...but I have to review my most recent visit. I had an appointment for a regular haircut and had woken up that day with a terrible migraine. When I arrived I told my stylist, Jenn, about my headache. If you’ve never experienced a scalp massage, 1) you must 2) Jenn is the best in the biz. Anyways, when it came time, we went over to the sinks and Jenn brought over a hot towel infused with essential oils, laid it over my face and pressed it into my forehead and sinuses. She proceeded to give me the most attentive, meticulous, facial/neck/shoulder/scalp massage I’ve ever had. I’d bet she spent more time on the massage than on my actual cut. I took my 6 year old there honestly because it is 5 seconds from our house and it isn't a fiesta. I called and spoke with the receptionist and she recommended Ally. Ally was wonderful with my daughter and her hair is adorable. I decided to give her a try. I love Bumble & Bumble so that is also a plus. I had to wait a bit but, she was finishing up with her last client and to me, that says she wants to accommodate and make sure her client is happy with their services. Ally is such a breath of fresh air. She's very happy, upbeat and she did exactly what I wanted. I went in for a cut and a bayalage/ombré highlight. A friend and I were there on Saturday morning for pedicures and manicures. I had Allison. She was not friendly at all, she didn't even greet us when she called me to the chair. She looked mad the entire time. I understand that my friend and I were having a conversation during our pedicures. When we split off for our manicures she did not speak to me until the last couple minutes when she decided to mention the weather and then tell me about drying my nails. My husband got me ...a gift card for Mother's Day for a friend and I to enjoy a couple hours of relaxation. Also, my polish began chipping off the very next day. When we got to the front counter I was shocked that I had to pay an additional $18 for our services. When my husband purchased the gift card he specifically asked how much it would be for the manicures and pedicures and the woman he spoke to told him $110. When I booked the appointment I mentioned this and the woman I spoke to assured me that's what she set us up for. This was not an enjoyable experience and it was hard for me to have to come home and tell my husband that it was terrible after he spent all that money to do something nice for me. I mentioned our experience at the front desk when we checked out and the woman took down my information and told me someone would contact me and 4 days later I still have not heard anything. Kayla was so nice! I enjoyed talking to her, but once I got home and saw my airbrush makeup I cried... I have less than a month until my wedding, and currently have no makeup artist for my day. I'm sure she's not a bad makeup artist, she just had a hard time with her airbrush equipment, and I came out looking greasy and blotchy. I took my chances by coming in as a "walk in" for an eyebrow wax. I was welcomed by 2 smiling young ladies which was great! One of them took me right back and said Liz would be with me soon. About 2 minutes later Liz came back, introduced herself, and we started chatting as I lay down. She walked me thru exactly what she had planned to do, and asked me if I was ok with that. I took my daughter for a "spa day" mani, pedi and facial. We started with our pedis, which is where our day went wrong. During the pedicure, my nail artist tore the side of my foot off with the file. As I was sitting there literally dripping blood from the side of my foot, my daughter was frantically whispering, "You're bleeding! You're hurt!" I didn't want to scare her or upset her further, so we carried on with our day. I didn't want to ruin my daughter's experience by causing a fuss. I don't think I'll ever get another pedicure after this experience. I'm so sad because I've been coming to the Beauty Bar for years. I had my eyebrows waxed for the 1st time in 2 years and they look AMAZING. Initially, I was worried to death that my eyebrows would be waxed too short, too thin, or that they would burn my skin with wax or take off half of my eyebrow - you know what Im talking about. So with MUCH research and trepidation I chose to try the Beauty Bar. I scheduled an appointment with "anyone who will accept a 6:30pm appointment, on such short notice" and I was scheduled to see Manal Cheaib. When I arrived, I was immediately taken to the back Spa Room. YES. The Spa Room. It was a cozy waiting room, the lights were dimmed and calming ocean waves were playing in the background while I waited. There were also cookies available (chocolate chip-I didnt try any sorry). I sat alone, which was pretty relaxing. When Manal arrived she was very kind, I liked her right away. She escorted me to another room, a private room for the waxing. She was very Professional, she used sterilized tools, wiped my eyebrows before and after waxing them, she even educated me on other hair removal techniques like threading. I was so surprised that I was not scared at all while she was actually waxing my eyebrows. Her 10 years + experience and her outstanding professionalism made me feel so safe and at ease. We chatted a little while she waxed and we were finished within minutes. Since then, I have been getting compliments (non-stop) on my eyebrows. Which is why I decided to write a review. Two stars is a stretch for the service I received. The stars are mostly for the ambiance. I am in Toledo visiting family and decided to treat myself to a pedicure since it had been over a month since my last one. My husband's best friend's wife is the manager here so I decided to give it a try. I usually go to places that charge $25 so I thought this would be quite a treat considering the price. It wasn't. It was awful. I asked for my ingrown toenails to be cut out and they weren't, I got no massage whatsoever and I could have painted my toes better. Totally not with $38. I am super unhappy. 1 Star because the place is cute. 1 Star because the prices are a bit more moderate than other more upscale salons in the Toledo metro area. I can't go beyond that, because despite the beauty and packages this place really isn't well polished or to my thinking up to par with upscale practices. 1) They charge you for cocktails. I had a spa day here and was charged for my glass of wine. I jus spent 300-400 dollars and I can't get a glass of wine? I have never been to a salon where if drinks are avail ale there is a charge, this was quite a new unpleasant experience. 2) The receptionist does not offer you a drink when you enter. No big deal she doesn't do this, just upscale Salons like Shamas in Perrysburg do this. When I went for an appointment at Shamas I had a drink in my hand so fast, like ninja fast! I literally was shocked pleasantly upon arriving. Again I don't NEED someone to throw a drink in my hand, BUT perks like this relax you and enhance your experience. HENCE an "upscale salon". 3) The main reason I chose this spa was because of the Sedona "clay" mud wrap. When I arrived it was neither a wrap or clay. #SideEye Told the manager and she "thanked me for my information". Okay! I called to ask 1) what are the detoxifying elements of this clay as YOUR site states? No one knows (not even until this day) the benefits they boast of on THEIR SITE. Go to the Reve Salon in Perrysburg, they know. The service was a scrub that just gets put on your belly and front of legs/arms. Could've done this at home, having all of my skin cared for is what I assumed a "wrap" is. This should be made clear on their website. Ahava Spa downtown clarifies this. I honestly should have just stopped the service because I didn't enjoy it OR it wasn't what I was lead to believe via their website. 4) Deep tissue massage was not great or that deep of tissue. It was decent but not great by any means. The young lady used her elbows a lot, which I like hands for deep tissue to be more precise. It at least feels that way from my experience  and has loosened up more tissue. 5) The people are nice, but that's pretty much any decent spa. 6) Receptionists are not trained on services. They have no clue how to answer any questions about the menu. NOT the fault of the receptionist, just a missed mark of management not training the receptionist or hiring someone qualified to answer basic questions. A lot of upscale salons thoroughly train front desk help and even require they have undergone beauty school. 7) I'm rating this place for what it is: an "upscale salon". It just doesn't make the mark. They are not knowledgeable on their services they offer. 8) Long story short this place would've made another 400-600 bucks off of me in the last couple of months, but their lack of pampering guest and going the extra mile in my eyes doesn't = the extra charge for services. You have places that give you a complimentary cocktail, knowledgeable and the like that just set the bar too high to think this kind of service is "upscale". 9) Today I just booked a Nova Lash appointment at another place because again front desk at Beauty Bar can't tell me what maintaining lashes means. A spa in Holland that charges 150 for initial and 45 for fill vs Beauty Bar's 200 for initial and 75 for fill... And they can answer my questions about products/services! (AnVa Spa and Salon) Would give this place and 2.5, but no such star rating exists. Read Less

Based on my past couple experiences, this place is a 5 out of 5. However, my first two experiences were a bit lack luster. The place is beautiful and in a very nice building. The interior is well decorated, comfortable, and so clean. The women at the front desk can be hit or miss. Sometimes I feel they are extremely judgy but other times I have gotten very pleasant individuals. I go there for eyebrow waxing and my first two experiences weren't the best. The first girl I had was very talkative and friendly. Did a decent job on my brows and loved chatting with her, but I felt like I wasn't a valued customer, kind of in and out and thats it. I sat in one of the chairs in the salon area and it was rather exposing. The second time I went for my eyebrows was a different girl, so they turned out different but still not bad. She didn't wax the tops which was odd to me but no biggie. Again, in and out kind of out in the open.Ok. I wanted to give this place another chance. AND IT WAS SO WORTH IT.This new tech that works on my eyebrows is so thorough and friendly. Manal is a wonderful woman who really makes you feel comfortable and at home in the spa room. It was my first time going back to the spa area and it's very relaxing, comfortable, tranquil, and peaceful. I wish I could leave an amazing review for this place, I really wanted to love it. The menu options are cute and extensive with fun names for manicures and pedicures like peppermint patty, creme brulee and limoncello. I opted to go with the peppermint patty manicure and the service just didn't live up to the experience. The manicure was supposed to come with a hot chocolate or mocha, but I wasn't offered anything to drink. Every other customer around me had a drink or was offered an option, which made me feel a little left out of having the same experience. Several other things felt a little off to me compared to the menu description. The service was supposed to come with a chocolate paraffin dip, which I assumed would be for my hands. It ended up being some weird lotion that they dipped my fingertips in and then rubbed in afterwards. (I didn't know paraffin doubled as a lotion?) Either way, it was definitely different then the paraffin treatment I was expecting. My arms were also rubbed with really old/rough towels to get the excess lotion off. Besides the fact that it didn't feel good, I was left with pieces of black lint on my arms, since they were sticky from the paraffin lotion. My nail technician was nice, but I left with polish missing from the sides of a few of my nails, and by the end of the day, they were already chipping. I think this could have been avoided by taking more time to finish. I've been to salons that take the extra time and it really makes a difference in how long the polish lasts. Read Less

I've gotten a massage here twice now and they both have been absolutely amazing! They are incredibly friendly and accommodating while you are there, it was a few months between my visits and they even remembered me. Everyone in this establishment smiles and says hello when you walk by, it's also very clean and I really have nothing bad to say. I recommend Kevin if you go to get a massage he was great the last time I went! Tip for everyone is they are scheduled based on everything from their manicures, to hair appointments and usually book up quickly call a few days ahead and you should be okay. I could have gotten a pedicure of the same or better quality from a cheap nail salon. She practically ripped off my cuticles and scrubbed into a cut I had on my ankle that I had warned her about - paid for the massage and she barely touched my shins or calves. Cheaper salons have a wider range of polish options as well. The only step ups were cheap hot chocolate that tasted like water and the paraffin dip. I came in yesterday for a Brazilian wax so I can be seen in public for the 4th of July. My service was performed by Kellie who did a great job. Quick, good conversation, mostly painless, not super awkward which is nice when there is someone yanking out the hairs from your nether regions. She gets 5 stars. The customer service I experienced was confusing and gets 2 stars. I called the day before because I was in a pinch and they quoted the service to me as $60. Having lived in Chicago for the last two years, $60 for this service is a steal. I arrive and am quickly checked in and told to go to the back room, I've never been to the salon so I stammered and the girl said rather rudely "Do you need me to show you where to go?" and I said that would be appreciated since I've never been to this salon before. Then the service was performed and I'm finished in 30 minutes which makes me very happy.  I then go to the front desk and pull out my $60 cash plus $10 tip. The lady asks me how the service was and I said wonderful and then she quotes me $85. I blinked my eyes at her and explained that over the phone I was quoted $60. She explains that because "everything was removed, the service is $15 more." I had to laugh because removing everything takes much less fines than leaving a landing strip or other design. But, I digress. I sucked it up and paid for the rest of the service on my card because I needed to hit the road for my 4th of July plans. The salon is beautiful and well-decorated but the nail service was poor. After I checked in, I was barely acknowledged during my long wait for a nail tech, and the atmosphere was completely unwelcoming. In addition, the quality of the mani-pedi was pretty mediocre, and the basic package comes with little pampering. Certainly one can expect this level of service from many nail salons, and perhaps one might even expect more sub-par service when getting a basic package. But I paid over $50 for a mani-pedi that did not even include a mild slathering of lotion. With this price tag, you can easily find a little more relaxation, pampering, and warmth elsewhere. Decided to treat myself and booked the Peppermint Patty manicure. I was not impressed. As described on their website part of the manicure is "dark chocolate salt exfoliation." First of all the scrub smelled nothing like dark chocolate and second they had me go into the bathroom and do the exfoliation myself. If I wanted a DIY manicure I would have stayed home. Also, the polish chipped after about two days and I am careful with my nails and did nothing that should have made them chip that soon. On a good note Angee did an awesome job on my eyebrows. This review starts out negative, but ends in a win for customer service. I arrived for my first Beauty Bar mani-pedi on New Year's Eve, and the place was slammed. The front desk staff weren't quite as gracious as I had expected, but were polite enough. They did offer me a drink while I waited. My nail tech was also quite polite, but didn't point out basic things like where to put my rings or that I'd need to choose a polish color from the racks on the wall. Simple things, yes, but having never been there before, these were details I would have liked to know.I was redeeming a gift card, so I didn't feel like I had thrown away money when my French manicure was sloppy and my pedicure left me with stray polish around my toes. I actually had to request that my nail tech file the burrs off my nails after clipping and filing, and she had to repaint two or three of them. I realized that I was seeing her best, so I didn't make a scene and just left with sloppy nails.I was so disappointed that I posted photos of the shoddy work to Yelp (without an accompanying review that would drag down their rating).The owner, Sara, called me a few months later when a client pointed out the unfavorable photos, and she apologized profusely and offered me a credit to my account to come back and try the Beauty Bar again.So I did.The second experience was similar in service, but much, much better in quality. I left with a great-looking French manicure (apart from a couple of closely-clipped cuticles -- apologies to my nail tech: I know I said I wouldn't mention that part!) and fantastic-looking and feeling feet.The bottom line? I'll probably go back, and I'll let everyone know that Sara does her best to make things right. It was.. okay.  The pedicure totally wasn't worth it.  I only had the half hour pedicure but I've had better done in the mall for $20.  It's not even really neat. There's polish on my skin around my toes too. I did get the half hour instead of the hour but if the half hour wasn't impressive why would I want a whole hour?  The woman doing it wasn't really into her job either. Seemed like she wanted to hurry up and clock out to go home.  Also I had my hair cut. I used a level 1 stylist.  I went in and really gave her crap instructions on what I wanted with my hair.  But we just kept working it and it came out just fine.  :)  It was definitely a $30 hair cut. have had 2 facials from Kellie @ beauty bar - both times I had an excellent experience. Waiting area for the spa area is decorated in relaxing colors and accessories, quiet - away from the hustle & bustle of the main reception area - they water available for customers. The spa room is quiet, perfect temperature (plus heated table), low lighting, low background music that adds to the ambience. I have rather sensitive skin and the products didn't cause any undo redness. Service is great - they offer guidance and suggestions on products, but are not overly pushy. I especialy like the fact that they sample their skin care products so I can try them out before buying. Am looking forward to trying the shirodhara or hot stone massage.Jen has cut/styled my hair - she listened to my suggestions, asked questions to be sure we were on the same page. To say I'm pleased with the results is an understatement, have lost count of the compliments I received. Do not waste your money on the hype. It is dirty inside the building, the staff acts like its more of a party for themselves than focusing on the customer and I spent an outrageous amount of money on hair color (I asked for the highest rated stylest) only for her to give me a spoty faded unprofessional style that looked cheaper than a box color. I was an easy sell and gave her a second and third chance and she obviously did not care like the rest of the staff and dirty floor, dirty bathroom and dirty service area. My experience with the Beauty Bar has been FANTASTIC.......and I've been going there since 2002!!! I used to go to other high end salons in the area and some were very nice but since switching to the Beauty Bar I have never turned back!!! The service is always excellent and I am always very pleased with the technicians who do my hair, my manicures, and my pedicures. I can't comment on the spa services because I don't go to the spa but I know people who absolutely LOVE them. I get many compliments on my hair and it looks great, if I do say so myself!!! lolAlso, the salon is so pretty....I feel like I am really treating myself special whenever I go. Manacurist literally cut up two of my fingers. Had to apply nail glue just to get bleeding to stop. They didn't offer to give me another nail tech and told me afterwards she was a new-er person. Nails look terrible now. The polish began chipping off later that day. Fingers are looking infected now. Burns to apply water or anything. Cuticle area inflamed to point where I may have to see a doctor. They are sending me a certificate for another manicure from a more experienced tech. Unfortunately if my nails worsen I may be sending them my doctor bill..... Read Less
