I was so infuriated I couldn’t make a post the day this happened . These owners are the rudest people I’ve encountered in years . I unfortunately had to deal with them momentarily but I wish I would have just walked away . I was excited to take my 8 year old daughter there because of the cute pedicure chairs they have . She’s been begging to have “ mommy / daughter “ time ( we have 3 kids and she’s the only girl ) . We went 2 hours before closing time but they were already ...closing up . Lights were still on and the owners were standing right there . So I knocked on the door and politely asked why they were closed early and if they’d be willing to make an exception for my daughter . They were short with me and simply said no . We have winter hours and you are looking at summer hours and closed the door on me . So I knocked again and asked what the winter hours were . This time the woman came up to the door and WOW was she a nasty person . Yelled at me and made a motion as if she would physically push me out the door if I asked one more question . I was NEVER rude to these people . Not one time did I get snippy or obnoxious. I simply wanted to know their winter hours because it clearly wasn’t posted anywhere . In fact the man seemed a bit confused himself ?? I got back in the van where my little girl witnessed the whole thing . She was holding back tears and said “it’s ok momma “ we’ll go another day . I thought my head was going to pop off I was so upset . I ended up at US Nails near the acme plaza in stow and although it was my first experience with them they were the nicest group of woman . So attentive and kind . They helped put a smile back on my daughters face . Long story short , I now know this isn’t an isolated incident . There are only ever 2 people working, they don’t take appointments, and only one nail technician is capable of doing fills and acrylics so you wait twice as long!! I got a gel mani and it chipped the second day. I also waited 2.5 hours!! Never going back, don’t go here!! Rude and unprofessional. Do not waste your time. My mom waited for an hour with both of us down for pedicures, when I arrived I asked if there was any way I could change to a gel mani (which takes a little bit more time) and the reply was No. But that is not even the reason why I am upset. I said I will wait for my mom to get her pedi. Meanwhile this lady waiting wanted a pedi and mani but was told only time for one my mom gave up her pedi and asked if the lady could take her spot (now they were out two pedicures from mom and I) they said "NO, no time" mind you... they close at 7pm and the time was 5:30. Closing time at Golden Nails in Stow. I'm the last customer there. Putting my flip flops on my almost dry toes and TRYING to be careful, I still managed to mess up two nails. Ugh! But the proprietor, as customer-centric as ever, just laughed and good-naturedly repaired my polish, even though I know they were trying to get out of there. This is a great place for nails! Mainly bc it's suppose to be first come first serve but they'll take any regular that walks in before you. Absolutely disgusting service! I came in and waited an entire hour and a half and it was only 3 people before me at first. Then when he started doing my toes to save time he switched between me and a customer who sat after me and tried to used the same gloves to massage our legs. They're simply racist as well. If you're black take your money elsewhere because they will take every white personal before you unapologetically. Worst experience I've had at a nail salon. Went in for a polish change and the man doing my nails didn't remove all of my old polish and complained that I should be getting a manicure "to clean my nails up." He also wanted to charge me for asking him to trim 2 of my nails. He continued to paint my nails even though he said himself that the old polish was still there. Love this place! My sister and I have been stopping here for a few years now to get our nails done. I find it funny that the other reviews complain about the wait time- this isn't a fast food place people, it's a salon so yeah go figure there's a wait. I've never had a problem here and the family who owns it are great people. They take good care of their customers. Just use cash instead of a credit card to avoid the extra charge (seriously, use your head if you don't want to pay the fee). Highly recommend to anyone in the area. Read Less

My first time here and I did not get a good impression. No one greeted me so I just wrote my name on a sign in sheet. One lady told me it would be a 30min wait. I told her I was going to walk next store. I came back and they passed me up because no one communicated. There were only three people working in a huge salon. I would not go back here. Golden Nails is probably the nicest nail salon in the Kent / Stow area. I tried to call ahead of time to make an appointment for my friend and I, but the store is walk-ins only. I got to the salon a few minutes before my friend did and tried to sign us both in, but they wouldn't let me put her name on the wait list even though she would be there soon. This is the reason I'm giving the salon four stars instead of five.Overall the salon was very clean, and I saw each of the nail technicians scrubbing their station with bleach after each customer, which was reassuring. They also have a very large selection of nail polish colors - this was probably the most colors I've ever seen in one place.My nail technician was very friendly, and I chatted with her while she painted my nails. I got a raspberry shellack color, and am very satisfied with the way it turned out. The entire manicure probably took about 15 minutes, so it was really quick. The total was $35, which wasn't super cheap, but I've also paid more for a manicure before.I don't get manicures often, but next time I do i'll go back to Golden Nails. Read Less

I received a full set with french tips.... it looks horrible !! My thumb nail starting lifting the next day . My french tips look like something my 8 year old could do( straight across , uneven , smudged ) ! The acrylic is varying degrees of thickness per nails . I also had a coupon for stow golden nails and she said I couldn't use it at check out because I got gel Polish instead of regular on my full set. This doesn't make sense to me and to be honest I think she just didn't want to let me use the coupon. I still would've have been paying full price for the full set and the gel polish separately. The coupon was a $5 discount on the full set. They put out these great coupons to get people in the doors and then when it's time to pay will find a reason why you can't use the coupon. They also wait to tell you that they charge you for using a credit card until service is done. I don't believe that the woman that did my nails was a licensed nail technician . Absolute worst pedicure I've ever had!! The lady didnt massage my legs at all and i was in and out of the chair within 10 minutes. A good solid pedicure is at least 20 to 25 minutes long. My daughter and I both got pedicures last Friday and It's WEDNESDAY.. Not even a WEEK later and both of our nail polish is almost all the way chipped off. I calles and theu basically told me that there is nothing they can do for me. $70 later and all I got was the most horrible pedicure of my life and busted up chipped nails. Ridiculous! Read Less

Okay. So I have went to this place twice. I've had the same technician each time. She is a lovey lady and I believe her husband is the owner. As a person she is awesome, and as a nail technician she was great. The first time I went I spent approximately $55 to have a full set, with gel polish and the stiletto tip. Fair enough if you ask me, I didn't have to do them myself and it was a pamper me day. Two weeks later I return to have my nails filled. The sign on the window say $18 I'm thinking awesome a lot less than before right. Nope. For $41 I had my nails filled, the nail polish color changed and the stilettos were rounded off. Then as I was paying I was told, "It would be a lot less if I didn't pay with a credit card" So what you will with this information, but I don't think I will be returning to this salon. Read Less

Stay clear! If I could give no stars, I would. Staff was rude and rushed through my service. Fastest pedicure I have ever gotten - cut my toe nail too short, barely any soaking time, and no scrub was used. I was then put under a dryer that was blowing freezing air. When paying, I was informed of the credit card "fee" - I tried to pay part cash and part credit card to avoid the fee but was informed I could not do this. So a $30 pedicure is really closer to $37. I decided to come here because they have cheap nail fills. Ben did my nails. I'm pretty pleased at the way they turned out and i will return. He did make me bleed a little with the drill, but I know he didn't do it on purpose or anything. After a two hour wait for a mani pedi for my daughter and I salon tech indicated he didn't realized I wanted a mani too even though was on sign in sheet. Given the shitty result of my daughters.... I LOVE this nail salon and very technician there. I've never had a bad experience, never a bad pedicure, and always, reliably, WONDERFUL gel manicures. However, the wait times are unacceptable. I just can't wait two hours every time. And there have been times I've waited over two hours and still hadn't been called back. They do not take appointments and they always seemed understaffed. I think that's the real issue. They have tons of space, good ventilation, wonderful technicians, just not enough workers for the amount of business they have. And it doesn't seem to matter what day or what time I go, they're always busy. I'll pay more to avoid these wait times. One lady, I assume it was the owner, was too concerned about me trying the color on. Stating that I can't try all the colors on. Well I never asked for that! I have been to Golden Nails a number of times and can say that every experience has been a great one. I have never had a bad experience at this salon and have even recommended it to friends and family who love it as much as I do. I got my nails done by Kim and she is so sweet and personable. She does such an awesome job! Leah has also done mine and she is just as great! This place has a reasonable price and does good work. I have never had a bad experience. The wait time is sort of lengthy so I typically sign in and go get Starbucks or wander around Target in the plaza behind the salon. They also charge a $3.50 fee for credit cards so I always try to have cash on me before I go. Read Less

Had my very first experience at Golden Nails today. I'm actually writing this review as I wait for my nails to dry. Every time I decide to try nail salon for the first time, I opt for a pedicure before I get a full set. One of the main reasons I do this is because the whole pedicure experience really sets the deal for me. I'm not sure who did my pedicure, but he was muscular and had a mustache. Hands down the best pedicure of my entire life. Lol He really knew what he was doing, and it felt like I was in pedicure heaven. I really need to have my husband take some tips from the guy. This place is a freakin joke. I had a mani/pedi done with my sister and a friend the other day. Our pedicures were nothing special. They were a little rushed, but the paint turned out ok. My manicure however i could have done myself. I paid extra to get the gel so that it would last longer. I didn't realize until i was waiting for the other two to finish that he had missed paint on half of one of my nails and I paid $45 for this crap? Unreal. They also failed to post of menti...on that there is a $5 fee just to pay with a card of any kind. Are you serious? I'm referring to only the manicure for $45 too. The pedi was another $35. I also find out that my sister and friend both hate their full sets. I guess my sister asked for a striped design on hers and the OWNER said it was too hard. My sister ended up totally redoing her nails when she got home with the design she wanted. My friend also had to add a top coat at home to her messed up nails. What did we pay for?? Today I received horrible customer service and I am so disappointed being that the quality of their service is flawless.! I was used basically used as a test dummy for a nail polish that was said to change colors (blue to purple). This happened last Friday. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and returned Monday. The nail tech that did my nails was not there so I had to return the following day. They then told me that the original "mood changing polish" required gel service (w...hich I should've received in the first place) and that it's an "extra service" so I would be responsible for paying $30 for an error on their behalf. I declined and was told to return today to speak with Golden Nails Salon & Spa owner Kim today to resolve the problem. Kim immediately got defensive and demanded that I pay $30 for the service I asked for from the beginning. Claiming that it was not their fault and that the people to blame are the people that made the actual polish they used on me.! Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. I was not treated like a fair, valued customer and for that I will not return and look forward for letting everyone I know that goes there to never return as well. I will never go back. How dare they charge an additional $3.50 because I use a credit card. This is a cost of doing business so you need to suck it up. The wait times are terrible many times up to 2 hours. A few are good but most of the "techs" are terrible. I have had several times that I have been cut and the tech will start smiling. The last time the girl had to work for 5 minutes to get it to stop bleeding. Never once did she say sorry or even reduce the cost of the mani.... I understand the little nips but this was not little. I also much agree with others who talk about them not speaking English all the time. I find it rude to the customers. I really don't care if they are talking about me but it is disrespectful to their clients. RED FLAGS start fling with me when a business would rather do business in cash. To me it tells me that everything may not be on the up and up. I am not saying this is true here but it opens up that maybe they will not pay sales taxes due, report their true income and on and on.
